by Annee Mayer-Chapleau. As a new writer for 15minutedate.com, my last intention is to sound narcissistic. However, I am afraid that impression is unavoidable because today I will not only be speaking for myself, but for Jesu s as well. Instant Messages from Behind the Lines
2007-05-22 18:32:00
by Jennifer. No one ever suspects that what happens to someone they know could possibly happen to them. That’s just the way we coax ourselves. “Never going to happen to me.”, we say. A good friend dies by the hands of a stranger she never met without an electronic wall veiling his true identity. ...

Things I have learned from Uncle Craig
2007-05-20 01:48:00
by Colleen O’Brien I’ve learned that some guys lie on craigslist (and in life) to make themselves look good. (To be fair, so do some women. Since when do “curvy” and “obese” mean the same thing?) I’m not sure why people present themselves falsely when they know they’ll be found out, but ...

My Date with Amy Lou
2007-05-14 23:52:00
by Sunil Tinani My whole body tingled as I looked at Amy Lou. She was built like Pamela Anderson, seemed as intelligent as Jodie Foster and looked as if she wanted to party 24/7. That was the good news. The bad news was I was looking at her photograph on a dating site where I was ...

Running Scared
2007-04-28 20:27:00
by Denise Kincy Greg wasn’t fat. He just didn’t look anything like the guys I was normally attracted to; those thin, dark, dangerous James Dean wannabes. However, I had had my belly full of that sort of character, so when the rosy-cheeked, cuddly teddy-bear of a man started talking to me at the party, I ...

by Jacob Miller I’ve been doing the online dating thing for the better part of two years. And while ...

2007-04-24 02:12:00

Beware of the Online ?Ghost?

The Fish Face Guy
2007-04-13 06:57:00

Blind Date turns into Soul Mate
2007-04-11 08:44:00
by Rick Fowler My sister, a Health nurse for our part of the county had spoken to a teacher through a visit to the school where this young lady was teaching. After this visit my sister called me and told me I should give her a call; she seemed to be single and not involved with anyone. It took a few days to get my nerve up but one evening I dialed her number and began my conversation with: “Hi, you don’t know me from Adam but….” One hour later, and with a date to a high school play at the school where I taught arranged, we ended our conversation. The 25 Year Old Virgin
2007-04-07 23:25:00
by Rebecca Kling OK, so a 25 year old virgin might not seem as bad as a “40 Year Old Virgin .” But let me tell you, going on a date with any fully-grown man who has never, umm… had sex, can be a pretty strange experience. A couple years ago, I met Tom online and was immediately attracted to his charm, good looks and intelligence. By the end of our first date, I was won over by his sexy gaze and smile. The date had gone smoothly, and I could tell Tom was really into me. When we parted without so much as a hug or peck on the cheek, I immediately wondered if I did something wrong—Did I seem uninterested, did I talk too much about my ex, or worst of all—did I have food stuck in between my teeth after dinner?? Faceless
2007-04-04 10:25:00
by Rachel Tornheim At first, he was faceless. That’s how new to this he was. Where his face should have been, there was only a blue rectangle, void except for a message informing me that his profile was being approved by Customer Care. I silently wished him luck - I was still bitter about this Customer Care character nixing my bikini pic, which was clearly no more inappropriate than the many shirtless pictures of guys they let through. Not to mention the fact that they had taken liberties with my essay, deleting the line in which I mentioned that one of my nicknames is “The Grammar Nazi” - can’t they tell the difference between ethnic insensitivity and grammatical fanaticism? Back to our faceless friend. His existence had been brought to my attention on a Friday evening in April, while I was sitting in my apartment, diligently scrolling through the faces (or lack thereof) of the men who had viewed my profile since my last perusal. In addition to his pi...

Why Napoleon Dynamite can improve your Dating Profile
2007-03-29 07:02:00
by Meg Stivison Those pessimistic stereotypes about online dating are over now! Today, you’re more likely to find someone who’s simply been too busy with their career and their other interests to follow traditional dating patterns. And let’s be honest, do you really want to build a relationship with a pickup in the bar? ‘Net dating allows you to screen for someone really special, not just someone who happens to be single. With a little honesty and a little creativity, you’ll be meeting better matches and making better connections in no time. With thousands and thousands of potential loves out there, your personal description needs to attract your Mr. or Ms. Right. Everyone likes listening to music, watching movies and spending time with friends, but that’s exactly the kind of information you should leave out. When you read a lot of profiles, as I did as a matchmaker for a local agency, “I like listening to music,” starts to mea...

Like Wind in Our Souls
2007-03-24 10:30:00
by Thomas Riddell When I pulled my first computer out of the box in February of 1998, I had no idea how that machine, consisting of plastic, glass, wires and electronics, would change my life. It literally opened up a whole new world for me - who knew at the time that it would bring me “chicks”? (more…)

How to Prepare for Meeting Your Online Date in Real Life
2007-03-20 04:36:00
by Carly Schuna You’ve flirted, chatted, seen pictures of each other, and (hopefully) talked on the phone. You’re reasonably sure your target of affection is neither an axe murderer nor a megalomaniac. You’re standing at the crossroads all online daters anticipate, dread, covet, and fear: the point at which Internet dating becomes real dating. (more…)

The Case of Split Personality
2007-03-16 04:55:00
by Andrea A few years back, I was living in a blue-collar city where the social scene centered around the bars, and I kept meeting That Guy – fratty, with all the vapid things he screamed in my ear reeking of stale beer. Out of sheer desperation to have one conversation with the opposite sex about… well, anything aside from how much he could bench press, I signed up for an online dating service. Of course, the site was populated with a lot of the same guys. The upside was, I got to screen them over e-mail – can’t string two sentences together? Can’t name the vice president? Off the list. Finally, I came upon a guy who got the pun in my bio. Worked in finance, cracked a couple jokes, knew a good restaurant to meet up at for a drink. We clicked online, exchanging e-mail messages about vacations and college lit courses. It seemed like a safe bet. (more…)

My Life in (Dating) Hell, Part 1
2007-03-14 05:20:00
by Tony G. Rocco Do you want to know what it’s like to be a single 51 year-old in the modernday dating world? It’s a lot like sticking your eyeball in a bunson burner or jamming your left arm into a tree shredder. It ain’t pretty. Let me formulate a definition of Dating as it is practiced by most men and women today. For that, I cite pearls of wisdom offered by a therapist cum dating coach to whom I turned, in a moment of weakness, for advice and succor. (more…)
