How to obtain .edu and .gov backlinks
2007-10-10 18:32:00
Are you looking to get your website indexed quickly? Do you need those extra backlinks to increase the overall rank and strength of your website from .edu and .gov domains? If you’re interested in getting your website indexed quickly, the first step is getting links from strong websites such as educational domains (.edu) and goverment domains (.gov). If you do, you will get the added benefit of moving higher in search engine results. The challenge of course is to obtain such links and were to get them from. There are many highly ranked web directories that are great options and many pursue this route. Premium quality directories will charge a review fee and if your website meets quality standards will be listed in the directory. Google has stated in the past that having your website listed in quality directories is beneficial to your site. Another popular trend in search engine optimization is the .edu or .gov link. Many webmasters have a misperception of the value of...

Using the tag on your HTML pages
2007-10-04 00:43:00
There are several reasons why Web pages do not display properly from within your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape etc), such as omitting a required end tag, improperly formatting a table, JavaScript errors, CSS errors, incorrect server requests, etc. Often, these errors happen because Web developers do not take the time to validate their work. In other cases they are a result of a lack of knowledge regarding the proper formatting and coding of Web pages.Even if you take care of all these errors, something else may be causing your Web pages to display incorrectly or even not at all: failure to use a <DOCTYPE> statement or, if used, failure to use the right one.A large number of Web pages don't use the <DOCTYPE> statement (Interestingly, many of them are Web development sites). Does it really make a difference? For the most part, not much. But if you want to make sure your Web site renders correctly in various browsers, then it's best to use it. You'll ...

The Defination of: Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
2007-10-03 22:03:00
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of ?naturally? driving traffic to your site and is generally seen as the more cost efficient way. By making a website more search engine friendly, a site will rank higher on the search engine result page. To optimize your site for the search engines is to try to get it listed in the top rankings when any particular keyword phrase related to your industry is typed into the query box. SEO is particularly important for e-commerce sites. Site improvements include changing or adding content, improving internal and external links, and formatting meta tags. The most important thing to remember is that content is king. Without enough content containing the right keywords, you have very little chance of ranking well. Used correctly, SEO can lead to a very profitable search marketing campaign. You can perform search engine optimization on your own site if you have the time and knowledge to do so, or you can invest in professional site optimiza...

Building Website Popularity
2007-10-03 17:03:00
Website popularity is an important off-page factor of search marketing. The big search engines like Google [http://www.google.com], Yahoo! [http://www.yahoo.com], MSN [http://www.msn.com/] and Live.com [http://www.live.com/] all use website popularity in their search engine ranking algorithms. Search engine algorithms rank websites using different factors. The reputation and popularity of websites that link to your website are both important components of successful search engine marketing. Titan SEO will strategically build your popularity to get the best results. Many SEO companies and firms offer hundreds of links at discounted prices. The problem with this strategy is that they are usually from websites that the search engines do not like, or do not give credit to. Understanding how the ranking formulas that search engines use work, and how search engines rank websites, is vital to a successful internet marketing strategy. Search engines do not like websites that ...

Why is invalid code on your website a problem?
2007-09-27 16:26:00
Invalid code is currently supported by the main browsers. However, browsers that are being built now and into the future will follow WC3's code recommendations more closely. This means that invalid code and "hacks" may render poorly, incorrectly or not at all (throwing errors or hiding content from some devices). What Can You Do?  It is not hard to make your site valid. Even a large site like 10,000 pages plus can take up to and over 6 weeks to upgrade from reasonably valid to 100% valid. So, how do can you make your site valid? Check your entire siteFix any invalid codeMake validation part of your process1. Check your entire siteThere are a few validators on the web that can be used to validate HTML/XHTML and CSS. Two useful ones are: WC3's HTML/XHTML validator WC3's CSS validator You can also use the better HTML editors to do basic validation as you develop. HTML Elements that matter
2007-09-20 18:46:00
Since the spiders see your page as HTML code instead of what is directly visible on your HTML pages, optimizers must gain a solid understanding of the structure of a typical HTML document as well. This lesson will guide you through some HTML basics and then tell you which elements are critical for optimization and why. First, we recommend that your HTML documents comply with the XHTML standard. XHTML is the strictest standard of the HTML (hypertext markup language). By following this pattern, you ensure your pages are easily readable for search engine spiders. You can learn more about XHTML at the official resource of the World Wide Web consortium: [http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/]Every HTML document that complies with the standards has two principal sections: the HEAD area and the BODY area. To illustrate this, we can open a source code of any HTML page found on the Web. A good example is [http://www.w3.org]. Open this in your browser, right-click on the page and select "view page s...

Resonate SEO SEM Consulting and Tips - Dont panic when your rankings fluctu
2007-09-15 16:17:00
When your search engine rankings fluctuate, or even if your site drops from the rankings, don't panic. Understand that these things happen in this industry, and they WILL happen to you. They happen to all of us. What you DON'T want to do is make any changes to your Web pages because of fluctuations in the rankings or because your site drops out of the rankings. Step back and wait to see what happens. Monitor your rankings. Watch the industry. Read the news. In all likelihood, your pages will reappear right back where they should be (or close to those rankings), if you haven't done anything wrong (such as using spam). Fluctuations in rankings are normal. Far too many people PANIC in the short term, when they would be wiser to just take it easy and not start making changes so quickly. Just a word to the wise!

How to Optimize a new website
2007-09-12 15:03:00
Most website owners have two or three key phrases that they would love to be the first result for in the search engines. This simply won't happen for a brand new website and likely will never happen for businesses operating in highly competitive industries. Unless you have very little competition online your best hope is to initially chase secondary key phrases, or drill down your key phrases to match your niche exactly. Take for example the phrase "marketing consultant". This is a highly competitive term that will be very hard for a new business consultant to rank competitively for in search engines. The solution is to break it down further into phrases that refine the niche. "small business marketing consultant" "united kingdom marketing consultant" "chiropractic marketing consultant" "Sydney chir...

Is your website legal or illegal?
2007-09-11 20:57:00
August 2000 saw legal history made in Australia, when the official Olympics website was sued by a blind user who had found the site inaccessible (view the outcome and details of the case here). This event should never have taken place if only the developer had shown due care and professional competence. More cases are in the pipeline around the world, and the numbers seem likely to grow rapidly as precedents are set. How does this affect you and your website Of course, web sites and intranets are not the same. However, an intranet will typically be used to disseminate information and run systems required by employees in the course of their work. Where a disabled employee is unable to access the intranet, a case could arise under employment discrimination law (including Human Rights law). Employers should take due care to ensure all information systems are accessible. WebThing can help to review your systems and company standards, while W3C Validator will help to implement and e...

Simple On-Page Optimization
2007-09-07 00:29:00
There are 2 different types of search engine optimization, on-page and off page. Here you'll learn the differences between them, and basic tips to getting your website optimized for the search engines. What Is The Difference Between On-Page And Off-Page Search Engine Optimization The difference is that on-page optimization involves changing elements of your actual webpages that most visitors to your site wont even notice. For example, having your keywords in specific places or writing the title a certain way. Basically it's tweaking all elements of a page which are a factor for ranking well in the search engines.Where as off-page optimization, is partially out of your control. You do have some control over it, but it's largely dependant on what others think about your website, unless you take an active role in off-page optimization. Off page optimization is quite a large topic, so I'll talk a...

Professional Page Ranked Web Directory Submission Services
2007-08-31 23:22:00
About Directory Submissions & What we offer It's a well-known fact that search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN value the number of links you have to your site when deciding it's ranking. It's also been established that links which are obtained naturally or which are non-reciprocal in nature [where you don't have to link back] are considered more important and valuable than links which are exchanged among sites. Save time and effort on directory submissions by using a professional directory submission service!  So with links being as important as they are and 'one-way' links coming at a premium, the question arises on how to go about obtaining these one-way links? That's where directory submissions help. Web directories serve as a catalog of websites and provide links to web users to various sites categorized under relevant topics. Many of these directories accept websites for inclusion to their directory at no cost. So submitting your site ...

2007-08-28 15:33:00
In my previous entry i was explaining reasons whay a website may become banned from the Google index, Well as an example that they don't take lightly to these kind of practises i was able to find this news article which was published earlier this year in Febuary 2007. The reasons behind this website being penalised was due to keyword spamming the article is below. the article has been extracted from the news archive at the BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk) BMW given Google 'Death Penalty' Some of the suspect pages already appear to have been removed Search giant Google has "blacklisted" German car manufacturer BMW for breaching its guidelines. Domain Names and Extensions Explained
2007-08-23 00:22:00
Below i have created a listing of domain names and to what there intension of use were proposed for, as an seo sem consultant many people find this a real struggle to create a domain name let alone decide on which Top Level Domain (TLD) to use such as .com, .net or .org. The information below i have compiled to give people who are new to domain names along with a reference to those who are more experienced on choosing there domains. I will update this post when i feel i need to or upon request from members of Resonate Equilibrium Cbarker.ws who would like me to publish certain information about a TLD which i have not covered below.Top Level Domains Every domain name ends in a top-level domain (TLD) name, which is always either one of a small list of generic names (three or more characters), or a two-character territory code based on ISO-3166 (there are few exceptions and new codes are integrated case by case). Inserting Graphics and Flash Banners
2007-08-20 23:02:00
Recently i have had a few requests on how to insert images and Flash Banners into there HTML within there website, Not difficult i have to admit. Further this we discussed how to insert the code within the website along with best practices an optimizing certain images to increase web page load time and overall website speed. A few comments happened to be mentioned which really surprised me and after creating a poll, running it for 8 weeks it turns out that 56% was actually favoring this comment. What was the comment? Well... "Is there any way to make a web page validate to xHTML 1.0 Strict after you have inserted a flash object on the webpage"   This question really surprised me as i found most people that i asked were under the impression that there is no xHTML Valid code to insert flash code upon there website, with this thought i began to wonder if there were more people believing this and by the poll that i run which was submitted as a question ...
