2007-03-04 11:57:01 There’s good news on the horizon for employees - leading indicators show that there will be plenty of opportunities in 2007 to improve your total compensation package through a better salary, bigger bonus and better work/life conditions. Sala ry Trends to look for in 2007 include: Bonuses will be a major part of many employees’ pay package. Look for employers to use bonuses and other variable pay to reward their employees. The economic slowdown of the early 2000’s still lingers in most employers’ memory and they will make efforts to keep their fixed costs down ? including employee salaries. As a concession, many will offer bonuses to stronger performers in lieu of larger pay raises. Employees who know they are seen at top performers can leverage this opportunity to negotiate performance-based bonuses and spot bonuses to balance out a smaller-than-expected pay raise. Flexibility and Work/Life Balance continue to gain prominence. Technology and employee demand f... More About: What , Hat , Head
Google Admits to User Data Disclosure
2007-01-25 11:29:02 Google has confirmed that it unwittingly disclosed sensitive login and password information pertaining to more than a dozen users. The information was disclosed three weeks ago as part of Google’s freely accessible anti-phishing blacklist. Google said in a written statement that the problem has since been fixed, and that procedures have been put in place to strip login information from future submissions. The information was collected when users submitted suspected phishing sites through the Google Toolbar browser extension. Several of the URLs that were submitted also contained login and password information. Security firm Finjan said that it first notified Google of the problem on 3 January, and confirmed that the list has since been cleaned of any sensitive user information. A Google spokesman told vnunet.com that all users who had information disclosed had been notified “weeks ago”. The disclosure of usernames and passwords on the internet can be espe... 2007-01-14 17:20:06 Recently, I came across a fantabolic article on fixing duplicate content & URL issues on Apace. I was not able to stop myself from blogging it. Recently, we’ve had a lot of discussion about domain and URL canonicalization, mainly centered around avoiding duplicate-content problems in Google. There has also been some discussion of fixing type-in URLs, typos in inbound links, and badly-coded inbound links. To be clear, a “canonical” domain is the single domain you want your site to be known by, and a canonical URL is the single URL you want your page to be known by. Any others are non-canonical. The word canonical is a religion-related term, and means “according to canon law, scripture or doctrine.” But in general use, it just means “usual, standard, conventional, customary, or according to the rules.” So as a Webmaster, you choose what single domain you want to use for your site, and what single URL should be used to request... Customer Reviews ? A vital Component in E-Business
2006-12-29 05:10:01 Customer Review s has slowly become a powerful tool for E-Marketers. This is something which should be embraced rather than feared. Always expect to see both positive and negative reviews; even your consumers want it the same way. They are very much in hunt for any kind of reviews. Hiding or deleting negative reviews can result in consumers questioning the integrity of the reviews and feedback they see. An Honest and a Savvy business always welcome honest reviews (positive or negative). Providing response to the any of the feedbacks esp. to negative feedbacks gives out a positive idea to your consumers about your dedication in improving your product or services and that builds consumer confidence and loyalty. I think all E-Commerce websites should have the section where their Consumers can share their thoughts and feedback about the product and services they are offering. This can be blessings in disguise for them. This way they can really work closely with their Consumers to bring m... More About: Business , Views , Comp
