With this year?s 20th Philippine Ad Congress themed ?The New Order? happening in Subic, we take a look at a place originally (and still is) inhabited by the Aetas, considered to be the first inhabitants of the Philippines. After a hotly contested pitch for the ad campaign of the 20th Philippine Advertising Congress, Ace Saatchi & Saatchi was proclaimed the winner. The Ace Saatchi & Saatchi team was represented by executive creative director Raoul Floresca, creative director Manu Sandejas, account manager Gigi Garcia, and copywriter Edwin Ortega. They will now handle the AdCon?s tri-media campaign in TVC, radio, and print ads. 'Loyalty' nowadays is just a word silly romantics hold onto.Finally it is confirmed in the latest Adobo Magazine Issue #11. Part of the article can be read here and at the Adobo Magazine website. As what Tsismax have mentioned in a previous blog entry dated last September 17 (look for BENCH label) there were rumors circulating regarding the Agency of the Year resigning the local lifestyle/clothing giant but was not confirmed. Now that is out for all the industry to see, Tsismax' personal take on this is if you want your friends to 'remain your friends', don't get into business with them or at least be prepared to be dumped even after a long "engagement" period. I've heard of similar situations so many times I've surmised na talagang "trabaho lang, walang personalan". I've always believed in working hard for a brand no matter if you don't sleep for 3 days straight, and getting recognition for such sacrifices is merely a bonus. I was in Thailand when this news broke. Was seating one lazy morning staring at the early morning traffic of Bangkok near Patpong, when I saw this Thai paper in English about our countryman Angelito Sisnorio. I recalled reading the boxing officials of Thailand really felt sorry about the "tragedy" and was somehow glad at least they were saying something and not keeping mum about it. When I went back to my hotel room, it was also part of the TV news. So I thought to myself it was a big story. Reading this piece today at The Manila Times internet edition made me think if we were just too forgiving to our Thai neighbors. I feel somewhat angered though this news came out early April of this year. There was clearly injustice and I just want to punch somebody (not a fellow countryman) in the face. According to Bubuwit, a lot of creative effort was put into the print layout of a company (name withheld upon request) and had it appear once in a newspaper to qualify as an entry. Having not even a semblance of an ad campaign, the one-time ad could have been easily disqualified. No, it was not Bubuwit who coined the phrase, "ad scam or scam ad."
