For Immediate Release Flugpo Brings Community To Online ClassifiedsNew York, NY, February 12, 2008 - Flugpo.com is set to revolutionize how we online classified listings by integrating community building features to their popular website Flugpo.com.Earlier this week, the free classifieds website relaunched their website and introduced a new feature which allows members to identify their profiles as a personal or business account. This useful feature helps those who come to the site, spend less time weeding through profiles not specific to their searching needs. In doing so, Flugpo unconsciously and unobtrusively asks visitors "who would you like to find?"Flugpo is often referred to as "Myspace meets Craigslist" by their staff and members. A New Way For Bloggers To Make Money
2008-01-16 00:58:00
I do freelance work, I blog and I dabble in affiliate marketing. I have not tried a new affiliate program in quite awhile. Most of them are big hype without the payoff.Something new has caught my attention. It is called Pay-Per-Play. They are five to eight second audio ads that you can put on your blog. The difference with this program is that you get paid every time the audio plays. You don't have to rely on someone clicking on your ad to earn revenue. This new source of advertising is growing fast! I don't buy into hype much, but I think this shows serious potential. Even the Wall Street Journal has an article about it "New Services Help Bloggers Bring in Ad Revenue":"Starting Feb. 1, San Diego-based V2P Communications is offering five-to-eight-second audio ads, called NetAudioAds, that will automatically play when a visitor lands on a blog or Web site. Publishers sign up for the free service and V2P then lines up advertisers, who bid on rates they will pay to have their ads play...

Where Is Your Marriage On Your Priority List?
2007-12-18 14:51:00
I realize that for the second day in a row I am getting off of the subject of freelance work. Life is not always about work and freelancers have personal lives too. Sometimes the two can get in the way of each other.I wrote this post today at Shakadoo.com in the LoveShak, BabyYesterday in the WorkShak, I wrote Does Working From Home Cause Your Marriage Distress?. After writing it, I really started thinking about some important issues. Apparently my husband was thinking about it too and wanted to have a talk last evening. Our talk went very well and we both were able to express different issues that were bothering us. We cleared the air and both promised to try and make some changes that were needed on both sides. I believe that the issues we discussed are probably some of the most common problems in marriages. To sum it all up, he feels like I never have time for him and I feel like I never have time for myself. I think a lot of this comes down to "mom syndrome". Moms are pulled at c...

Does Working From Home Cause Your Marriage Distress?
2007-12-17 16:38:00
I wrote this post today at Shakadoo.com in the WorkshakI usually don't get too personal but today I am going that route. Sometimes it helps to find out if anyone else is going through the same thing. After the birth of my last son, I stopped working altogether. It was a huge financial adjustment for my family. After about a year, I started getting a lot of pressure from my husband to go back to work. I hated the thought of not being home with my children so I found a way to make money by working from home. The truth is, my husband never believed that I would be able to make money working from home. He said he would believe it when he saw it. Well, he was proved wrong and now he is happy that I can contribute financially to the family income and still be home with the kids.Did I say he was happy? He is happy when I am not on the computer! He seems to think that I can magically make money from home without ever actually having to spend time on the computer. He does not understand read...

Ad Writing Tips For Beginners
2007-12-12 15:59:00
I wrote the post "How To Write Successful Ads" on the Flugpo Blog today. I thought this might be useful to some readers here:The way in which you write your ad can determine its success or failure. Taking a little extra time to word your ad properly is usually time well spent. Even if you are placing a free classified ad, these tips can help you make that sale.It is tempting to write a very brief ad with just the basics. How much is there to say about the old baseball bat that you are selling? The answer is, a lot more than you think. If you are placing an ad that is going to be on the Internet, the main thing you should consider is "keywords". Keywords consists of words or phrases and are the essence of search queries. Adding the proper keywords to your ad will make your ad show up in more search results. Keywords and an appealing description of your product or service will make your ad more attractive. Let's think about that baseball bat again. Did you win a championship with it? W...

Freelancers Expected To Work For Peanuts?
2007-11-28 23:05:00
I saw this ad on Craigslist today posted by a frustrated freelance writer. This person is aggravated at all of the freelance writing opportunities that offer insulting payment compensation. I have to tell you, this cracked me up when I read it! Let me share......Less than a penny per word? Are you kidding me?To the clowns advertising the "job" looking for 500 word articles at $4.00 per article:Perhaps you could get some grade school kids to do this work for you, though I imagine that their allowances or lunch money for the week far exceed the amount of money you are looking to pay. Let me guess...you are a company that offers web content to various companies...and you probably charge your clients between $20 and $50 per article? Perhaps you should outsource this work to a work center in another country, although even they would probably want $5.00 per article.Writers: Do I really have to say it? Social Media Marketing
2007-11-27 22:13:00
If you do freelance work, then I am sure you recognize the importance of social media marketing. You can also just call it social bookmarking. I have noticed a trend with my bookmarking experiences and would like to share it with you.Just like everyone else, I am eager to hit the Digg button or Stumble my story. Not so fast! Have you ever taken into consideration the time of day or the day of the week before submitting your content? You might want to hold off on using that bookmark until the time is right.I have found that WHEN I bookmark content can play a big part on the popularity of the piece. Before I get too far into this, keep in mind that we are all in different time zones. Base what you do on your specific time zone or the time zone you are targeting. The times that I think seem to be the best are weekday mornings anywhere from 9:00 a.m. to about 11:00 a.m. Afternoon weekdays are also good from about 3:30 to 4:30. These times work well because you are catching people at work...

I write for a wonderful site called Shakadoo. I wrote a post in Shak In Style which is one of the sections they have all about your home. My post was tagged for a game of blog tag! This was my first time being tagged. I found it to be a very enjoyable experience. Take a look at part of my response blog post in the tag game:"When I was a child, I believed that Dracula lived in a picture that hung in my basement. The picture was not scary, it was of a house at the end of a road. I don't know why I believed that Dracula lived in the picture, but no one could convince me otherwise! My family used to go camping to a place called Buggs Island. We went there year after year and loved it. There is a little graveyard there inside the campground. The first time I saw the grave of Little May Land, I was convinced that I was her reincarnated. Do you do freelance songwriting? If you do, then you will be interested in this. There is an excellent company called Demo My Song . They will take your lyrics and put them to music for you. I am not endorsing this company blindly. I have used their services and am thrilled with the results.I am not a songwriter. My son is the reason I contacted Demo My Song. Last Christmas, I wanted to think of a special present for my new baby. His name is Daniel and I couldn't help but think of Elton John's song "Daniel" after he was born. The Night Before Thanksgiving Random Thoughts
2007-11-22 01:35:00
What a crazy day this has been! Being a freelancer, I thought that I could take it easy today and prepare for Thanksgiving . Isn't that one of the perks?Actually, I never complain about being busy when it comes to work. It is very strange though because I have found it rather quiet the past week or so. Then today, of all days, people are coming out of the woodwork from every crack. I thought the whole world was either traveling or out buying a turkey. Goes to show what I know!My next topic is to give kudos to my driver #48 Jimmie Johnson! Congratulations on an outstanding year! I realize I am using a lot of exclamation points but I am excited! The past five races had me standing on my feet and yelling at the television. It was a very exciting finish to the season and I can't wait until February to start it all over again. I am confident that Jimmie can make a record and win three championships in a row! Anyone else a Jimmie Johnson fan?I think I have done enough rambling for the da...
