How to pronounce niche: neesh or nitch?

Well, niche is a French word, originally meaning “the wooden house of the dog". It began to be used in the marketing arena in the early 80’s, in France, meaning the specific portion of a certain market. One should pronounce it “neesh", because when French people pronounce it the other way it is: Nietzsche. See? It is not exactly the same registry. Is SEO no longer so magic?

If we need traffic to our website (a large majority of the websites need it), there are not so many ways to get it. We get it from search engines, organic or paid ways, mainly from Google of course, social networks, photos and videos sites, ads, articles directories and press releases sites. Even if we get this traffic, it doesn’t mean our business will grow. It will grow if we offer attracting services and/or products, a personal, communicative and human way. Getting traffic is necessary but not sufficient. SEO (search engine optimization) standards changed, we can read here and there that Google’s algorithm is so sophisticated today that even having our website(s) listed in non paying directories (i.e. getting “free one way links” pointing at them) doesn’t raise much their ranking. If you intend to get Google on your side, it is important not to put scripts or functionalities that this senior engine “dislikes". Specially if you are running Internet marketing and expecting traffic from Google. So if you implement new functions it has to be one by one. Implement one script, then control Google’s reaction.
