Fox Hunts Down YouTube?s User
2007-01-25 19:03:02 Twentieth Century Fox has subpoenaed YouTube , demanding that the site provides the details of users who uploaded four episodes of ?24? and twelve episodes of ?The Simpsons?. - it reads: On or about January 8, 2007, Fox became aware that a subscriber (?the Subscriber?) of YouTube Inc.s? Internet-based service uploaded pirated copies of the works onto YouTube, making it available for illegal viewing over the Internet to anyone who wishes to watch it. Fox has not authorized this distribution or display of the works. The subpoena request YouTube, Inc. to disclose information sufficient to identify the Subscriber so that Fox can stop this infringing activity. It is weird that Fox is going after the user rather than just issuing a DMCA and getting the clips pulled. Google is known to protect their users so it will suprising that they would turn in that information to Fox. More About: Youtube , User , Down , Hunt

MySpace E-mail Verfication
2007-01-24 19:03:02 Well it’s about time! I think they finally got tired of all the spammers signing up. MySpace now is going to verify the e-mail address you sign up with. You will receive an e-mail with a verification code for you to click on to verify your account. No more signing up with fake e-mail addresses. This will not only ensure that more of the site’s users can be tracked down if necessary, but it also means that those creating spammy accounts should have a harder time. MySpace says it held off adding this feature for fear that the mails would end up in spam folders and many users will not know how to retrieve that e-mail and have a hard time signing up for MySpace. Tom?s MySpace Hacked!
2007-01-24 19:03:02 Well it was just a matter of time until someone would hack Tom?s account. MySpace seems to suffer spam and phishing attacks on a fairly regular basis, partly because it?s a hub of inexperienced users, and for other reasons too - the freedom to edit your profile?s html and insert malicious code.On January 14th, Tom?s profile was hacked, sending spam to his 148 million friends. A bulletin came from Tom?s profile and invited users to click a link. This link took everyone to a phishing site that asked them to log in again. If you logged in, your email and password was then stored into the hacker?s database where it was later used to send our more spam mails and bulletins from your own account. This is becoming a fairly regular event on MySpace. We don?t yet know how the attack was orchestrated, but if Tom?s account can be hacked then yours can easly too. Make sure you keep an eye on your account everyday. Check your profile for weird links, check your bulletin history and sent messages ... More About: Myspace , Hack , Hacked , Pace
MySpace Files Law Suit Against ?Spam King?
2007-01-24 19:03:02 MySpace .com has filed a lawsuit against the ?Spam King ? for blasting the portal with spam through the use of compromised user accounts. MySpace also seeks a permanent injunction to bar Scott Richter and his affiliates from using the popular social networking site. Richter runs Optinrealbig.com, an e-mail marketing company based in Westminister, CO. MySpace accused Richter of running afoul of the federal CAN-SPAM act and California?s antispam law. MySpace users can send bulletins to all of their friends. This distribution power has made MySpace a frequent target for spammers, who can reach up to thousands of users if they have the login and password for each person?s account. The lawsuit accuses Richter and his associates of sending millions of bulletins from different user accounts without their knowledge between July and December 2006. The bulletins advertised ringtones and polo shirts. More About: Myspace , Again
