Building Rapport with your readers!

Building rapport is not an easy thing to do but it is one thing I've realised lately that is quite important. In my job, we are trained that the first thing to do when you meet someone is to build rapport with them. We use the rule of 9, which means that you find out 9 things about them and give them 3 things back about you. This could be anything from where you live, if you have kids or a partner, what kind of job you have and what interests you. So how does this help me? Well it is very important if you write a blog to build rapport with your readers. In this online world that would be through comments, forums and instant messaging. It is important to encourage your readers to leave comments and also to join the network. Do you enjoy having comments left on your blog? Does it give you ideas about which to write? Or if you are a reader, do you revisit sites that gave you something in return?

Million Blog List & Blog Review

Hi Everyone! I discovered an interesting little project! Apparently there are said to be around 70 million blogs published on the internet today. This is a project to list them all and see how long it takes to get to 1 Million ! It's easy to add your site. If you've got a blog I recommend you get on the list (http://millionbloglist.com/), the worst that can happen is you get some traffic! The Million Blog List (http://millionbloglist.com/) is a cool experiment to see how fast word of mouth travels on the internet. They are up to about 1400 blogs at the moment. Twitter and MyBlogLog Statistics

Hi All, Well, as promised I have signed up for Twitter ! I've added 'My Twitter Updates' to the sidebar. It's a quick way of writing an entry and letting people know you are still alive without writing a whole article! I haven't set it up to text me when friends update theirs (even though that's an option). I don't want my phone to be constantly beeping! Hi Everyone, I just have a small favour to ask! I was informed yesterday that I have been nominated for an Entrecard 'Beauty Contest '. Now I'm not taking this very seriously, more it's a bit of a laugh! But it would still be cool to win the 5000 credit prize! Hi Everyone! Wow, it's been a busy week this week. I did manage however to update a few things on the site. Since I don't use Wordpress (I use Joomla) there are a few widgets that come with Wordpress that I really like. I have been wanting to get a Categories section for a while now. I finally did it this week! Joomla has 1000's of extensions to build any kind of site. I often visit the Extensions Directory and look for new and cool things to add to my site. I finally found an extension that allows me to make the categories section. You can see it at the bottom of my page. I called it 'Topics I like to Write About'. I don't know if I should move it to the sidebar though? I'll have to consider that! It took me a little while to set up because all of my entries were only in one category. So I had to go through and categorize them all, but now it is working fine and I love it! I want to bring the Work @ Home Club back, but I'm probably going to rename it to somet...

I'm back from holiday!

Hi Everyone! Well I'm back now from an amazing holiday! We traveled to Singapore, Cape Town (South Africa) and Phuket (Thailand). We had an excellent time and the weather the whole time was beautiful and sunny everywhere we went. I am posting a few pictures today of the trip from my first lot of photos. I haven't loaded them all onto the computer, but I'll make a gallery and put them all up soon. This a photo of Glenn & I when we first arrived in Cape Town. The house we were staying at was near the beach and this is our view of Cape Town and Table Mountain. It was about a 20 minute drive into the city from there which was excellent. Hi Everyone! Just a quick note to let you all know that tomorrow I am going on holiday for 3 weeks. Yes, 3 weeks of fun, sun and relaxing! I'm off to Cape Town, South Africa for 2 weeks and also stopping in Singapore and Phuket, Thailand. Should be a good trip! I will post some pictures when I get back to show my readers. New Money Magnet! A very interesting concept I had to try!

Hi All! We all want a bit of extra cash from our blogs don't we? Well, I just found out about the Money Magnet (http://becslife.biz/goto.php?link=magnet ) through a newsletter I receive. I thought it sounded pretty cool and I just had to get one for myself and try it out! These days there are so many new ideas coming out all the time. I definitely don't try all of them, but this sounded fun! It's an interesting concept. You can see the widget I've just added to the sidebar. It shows the total amount I've earned so far, the total amount made through the network and the last person who sold one. You can sign up for widgets of different monetary amounts and they are all different colours. I went with the cheapest of $10 for now, I don't want to press my luck! New Theme!

Hi All, Well you may have noticed some changes around here! I've got a new theme! This one is a bit more flexible than my old one. I've been spending the last couple of days organising it. I'll continue to make changes over the next little while as well until it's perfect! This week and next week I'll be temping in an office trying to collect a bit of extra cash for the holiday I'm taking in 1.5 weeks! Should be exciting and I'll make sure to take photos and put them up here when I return. You may have noticed I've had to temporarily disable the members section of this site. Apparently when people were trying to register it would not allow it. I am not sure what is wrong, but I'm looking to fix it. Stay tuned for that! Also, my goal for the week is to separate all my entries so far into categories so that it is easier to find the information!
