The Domain Name Works!!!!
2008-01-22 05:52:00
Just wanted to let you all know that the domain name is up and running now, so for those of you who have not subscribed to my RSS feed, you can now type in www.thechrisjohnsonproject.com and you will come right back here. This post will be a short one, I just spent the better part of the night on statistics home work and I have to mop up what's left of my brain before the dog gets to it. Good night all.

Ok, so the News Page sucked. No, no, I can admit it. Even I looked at it and wondered what I was trying to do there. So I revamped it. Now it has a much cleaner look to it and it has a more "newsey" feel. There is more video and I will be updating it regularly. There are also these little, "embed" buttons on the feeds so if you like what you see and want to use it on your own site, just click the embed icon and go for it. In my other activities, I've linked with some pretty good sites via linkalizer.com and hope to see some traffic from there. I also highly urge anyone who wants to create a good site to start Google Analytics. I go on daily and have found that I have readers in India, the United Arab Emirates, Sweden, Australia, the Philippines, and Malaysia, just to name a few. To keep this a good experience for my readers that don't speak English, I've added the Babel Fish Icon to translate the pages. Granted it only does so many languages, but it's free (like all th...

Today I have been spending my time setting up a links page and updating my money programs page. I'm trying a free service for the links called Linkalizer.com. Links are important to raising my website's rankings on the big name search engines, and to promote more direct referral traffic. I have gotten about 61 requests for a link, some of which are not in the interest of my readers to link, some are adult but I'm steering away from incorporating any adult material, or gambling into this site for two reasons. I want to try to get this running without using those two methods for the challenge it provides, and also to keep my site clean. I have linked the remaining sites to my links page and I will post on how effective the link backs work.

So I've signed up for a few traffic generating websites and these are the ones that have given me a return on my investment of time. Linkreferral.com is a good one. I've gotten several hits from them. Basically you submit your site and it gets ranked on their page. If you view 30 sites, review 5, and make 1 post in a forum, your ranking goes up for a time. There is a paid option too. Blogcarnival.com has also gotten me a good amount of hits. You submit the site to them and folks just crawl and land on it. Both services are free, and I am playing around with some others, but haven't gotten anything from them yet. I'll post more when I get some data.

I've been getting more page views each day. I've signed up for a bunch of different link exchanges and free web publishing things. My domain name still doesn't work right, but they tell me that's because the servers take time to update. I've added a page that talks about the money programs I signed up for and gave links to all of them. I will add more when I can or when I find them, and will review my......reviews, periodically. Just click on the pile of money to the right and check them out. Also, a few comments have come in and I just want to thank you for those. Most of the link-backs should be visible, but I will answer those comments and add applicable links as soon as I can. Thank you again.

Uptdate on a Few Programs
2008-01-14 14:28:00
Well my Weblo account is upto $1.64 which is cool, but I have to pay $1.00 to "Immigrate" before I can sell my "Digital Asset" which is a fan site about Ken Watanabe. I asked them to front me a little dough to try out some of their features, but so far no answer. Doesn't put them high on the customer service scale. My Moola account is upto $1.60 from playing games and using their search bar feature. Not too shabby for only a few days. Also, my Helium is upto $.75 writing about things I know. I will need to update my totals.

Got a Domain name
2008-01-12 06:31:00
Well I broke down and bought www.chrisjohnsonproject.com but I'll be damned if I know how to use it. I keep trying different hosting options, but sometimes the page doesn't work and some times it does. I'll keep fiddling with it and see what happens. I think I will add a page with more in-depth views about the programs I try and see how that goes. Let me know your thoughts.

Yesterday I signed up for a program at Moola.com which seems pretty good. You start off with a penny that they give you and you play games against others. You wager your penny and if you win, you double it. You keep doubling until you reach some unholy amount of money or you loose it all. You don't have to bet the whole amount, and there are other ways to earn. You can search through thier site and get a chance to spin a wheel for money, or you can visit sites and buy thier stuff for money in your account. You can also refer freinds through email. The only downside I see so far is that the checks you get paid with are from Canada, and that can add some clearing time to a US bank.

Today I downloaded a free SEO program called Web CEO to a bunch of search engines, I have also included links to my Hubpages sites. I hope to find a way to include a link to my Helium articles as well, but I haven't found one yet. I'm toying around with the idea of doing posts about the programs I join and putting the links into the posts, or having a separate page for the programs that work. Let me know what you think.
Todays Efforts

I have sent this blog out into the world with a program called Ping-O-Matic. This is supposed to ping a large amount of blog sites every time you post. It's a free service, and can't hurt to try. Soon I will detail all the programs I signed up for, but I am still getting new ones. The problem is still traffic. I also added a donate button so that, if anyone donates, I can use the money to buy SEO tools or ad space, perhaps a domain name. I could also use it to try out some of the affiliate programs or money making sites out there for rating purposes. This way if they are either no good or a bunch of thieves, those who read this site won't be screwed out of money....I will.
Traffic
2008-01-05 05:52:00
So the problem remains getting people to go to the site. I don't want to run out and register a domain name and pay for SEO and all that yet, as I am trying to build some sort of money with what I have running now. I will most likely do so later, but for now I want to see what I can generate with only the free tools that are available to the average individual. I have seeded my Hubpages sites with links to this blog, but not much has come of it. I have also not received any comments on my pages or this blog. I hope that changes soon, the more people share with me and the more ideas I get, the better chance I will have of success. And the better my blog will be for others who are trying this as well.

Today I published this Blog on Hubpages
2008-01-03 14:24:00
Hubpages is a great site that helps to answer the question "How do I get traffic to my site?" You publish pages on things you know about, called Hubs, and you can add content to them that helps you to get paid. Amazon, eBay, and Google Adsense all have buttons that you can add to your pages. It is still a social network so don't expect to not participate, or your ratings will drop. If your ratings drop, no one reads.

And So It Begins
2008-01-02 04:11:00
Well, I've signed up with so many affiliate programs that it just about makes my head spin. Of course, the hard part isn't finding good quality programs to apply to, but getting people to come to your site. I will be looking into Hubpages, as this may help alleviate the traffic issue, if not completely take care of it.
