How to become a Human Calender??
2007-09-17 17:28:00
Mentally finding out the day of the week for any date is a skill you can easily learn. You don?t need to be an autistic genius ? all it takes is basic memorization effort and some trivial math. When I first learned this technique many years ago, I did it just for fun. With time, I learned to enjoy the convenience of not needing a calendar anymore. It?s far more useful than I first thought, and with just a little practice, you?ll be able to find out the days of the week much faster than when reaching for a calendar. The MethodTo find out the days of the week for any date, use the formula:[day of week] = (yearcode + monthcode + day) mod 7 If you?re not math-inclined, this may look quite scary at first, but don?t worry: using the formula is straightforward. Let?s walk through each one of of its parts.Month and Year CodesThe month codes are one of the formula?s most troublesome parts, since they don?t follow a clear logic. We?ll have to memorize them, but don?t worry with that just yet,...

Simple ways to add ?personal power? to your emails
2007-09-04 16:03:00
In the world of online business, email is the medium with the greatestpotential for one-on-one communication. The trouble is, this potential is rarely exploited. All too often emails to our customers and prospects are written in ahurry, without much thought being given to making a personal connectionwith the reader and building a lasting relationship. Why companies pay so little attention to email is a mystery to me.Time and again the emails I receive from companies have clearly beenwritten without any effort being made to connect with me as an individual. This lost opportunity is most evident when I provide my email address to acompany for the very first time. Maybe I sign up for a newsletter, maybe Iregister for some kind of service, maybe I buy a product.Almost without exception, the automated emails I receive to confirm theaction I have just taken are uniformly drab and impersonal. This is craziness. When a customer first gives you his or her email address, you have a smallwindow of o...

2007-07-23 18:09:00
My frequency of posts are lagging since because I'm busy with my MBA exams. Out of 6 Papers, I completed 3 and preparing for my next exam on Wednesday. Its on Information Management System (IMS). You'll have to giv eopportunities to your juniors too. But, doing yourself will make you feel happy about the work you did and you would make it done successfully. Ambush Marketing!!
2007-06-27 18:05:00
What do you think of Ambush Marketing ? Lets ask Wikipedia."Ambush marketing occurs when a brand pays to become the official sponsor of an event and another brand tries to connect itself to the same event, without paying the sponsorship fee and without breaking any laws.Another company, often a competitor, intrudes upon public attention surrounding the event, thereby deflecting attention towards itself and away from the sponsor?. This is form of "Guerilla Marketing". Why people have started advertising their business in this way?Basically it started from sports cups like FIFA, Olympics etc., For big companies, its very easy to sponsor an event for brand awareness etc etc., But small companies cannot participate in it thru' sponsorship. So, they followed Ambush Marketing for their business advertisement with less spend.Just got an example of Ambush Advertising when I search the net...In that advertising, you can see only one sponsor. It doesn't mean that only one non-sponsor will try...

Do you think Open Source Software means Free Software?
2007-06-13 15:52:00
What is the different between Open Source and Free Software ?Open source is a development methodology; free software is a social movement. The fundamental difference between the two movements is in their values, their ways of looking at the world. For the Open Source movement, non-free software is a suboptimal solution. For the Free Software movement, non-free software is a social problem and free software is the solution. What is mean by Open Source Software? Open Source software is a free one where the source code is freely available. Programmers can read, modify, improve, adapt, fix bugs.... everything. There are many advantages of Open Source software. But what are all the disadvantages? The software will be qualified with the contribution of many people. Its not possible to audit the entire code to prevent voilation of previous vertions. This makes opportunities for the contributors to release trespassing codes. It does not include any intellectual property representations, warrant...

Google Street View
2007-06-12 14:06:00
In Googl e Maps we have a new feature called "Street View ". Though it is not available to all the cities in US (Only avaiable for Silicon Valley, Las Vegas, Miami, Denver and New York according to Colin Colehour from the US), it is the hottest news and Google Maps hits lots of traffic because of this new Feature. When you check Google Map, this additional feature will be available. If you click it, you can see cameras in those selected regions. Click it and drag the human symbol. It will show you that specific street's 360 degree overview. Though it is a very good feature and its so cool, it will affect the privacy. The Google help blurb on the Street View feature, displayed at Search Engine Land, explains how the navigation works:?Blue outlines show roads where street view is available.? ?[A person icon on a green arrow] shows where you are on the map. The green arrow points in the direction you?re looking. You can drag the icon to navigate to a different location. You can also jus...

Which is Important - Technology?? or Problem Solving??
2007-06-08 16:01:00
I was reading a Marketing thread this morning from SoftwareCEO and a PDF I got from my PM. Both were more or less in the same and I got a *click*. Do organizations need to care about Technologies? What I feel is, You could use any technologies which will help you grow better. "Do not care about technology for technology?s sake. Instead focus on the problems that buyers are willing to spend money to solve". This makes sense. If an organization is in a problem, they won't is a position to choose technologies. Their only target will be to solve the problem. For example, both MS SQL and MySQL are broadly used by the organizations. Both have excellent features. But Eventhough MySQL is open source, by comparing with MS SQL its having only basic security mechanisms. SQL is C2 Complient, native encryption support, asymmetric and symmetric keys. MySQL does not have that provisions. Don't think that I'm supporting MS SQL. Just wanna tell you the facts. But we can consider of using an upgrad...
