The process of Medical Coding is today become a necessity for claiming of medical reimbursements. Also called by the name of insurance coding, the medical coding process involves assigning of codes to medical diagnoses and various other related procedures. Thus the medical coders convert the entire physicians note into medical codes that is used by the insurance companies to pay the health care provider. Podiatry and Medical Billing
2008-01-28 04:33:00
According to The American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) not all preventative foot care visits to a podiatrist, including patients with diabetes, are covered by insurance providers. The word Podiatry (known earlier as Chiropody) has originated from the two Greek words "podis" and "iatria". Podis means the foot, and iatria refers to healing. Thus podiatry is a medical specialty that is concerned with the diagnosis treatment and prevention of diseases, deformities and disorders affecting the lower extremity parts of the body. The American Society of Podiatric Medical Assistants awards the Podiatric Medical Assistant Certified credential to medical assistants.Medical billing with regards to podiatry has long been a sensitive area. Outsourcing and the 2008 Presidential Elections
2008-01-25 02:59:00
Offshore outsourcing has again become a topic of growing national debate as economic recovery has elevated to the platforms of presidential candidates. But this time it is far less sensationalized than in 2004. It is true that American jobs have been lost to outsourcing because of globalization but it is also true that more US jobs are being created in the same process. The unemployment rate is under 5% and for college grads it is only 1.8%. Nonetheless, some presidential hopefuls are finding themselves pointing again towards offshoring as the demise of the American job market. The first week of January 2008 , Brown-Wilson Group's Black Book Research Division, global surveyors of the outsourcing and offshoring economic pulse, collected and analyzed the 2008 influence of outsourcing. Here is the link to the article, http://theblackbookofoutsourcing.com/docs /Outsourcing AndThe2008PrimaryElections .pd fWhat is interesting is that over two thirds of Democrats believe that the President has t...

Medical Billing and Claims Management
2008-01-24 07:28:00
Medical Billing process consists of interaction between a healthcare provider (like a consultant physician) and the insurance company who is the payer of the bill. It is the duty of the concerned doctor to maintain/update the patient record that has all patient information, state the nature of his illness, examination/ tests conducted, medication lists, diagnoses and also the suggested treatment etc.Depending on the complexity of the case, the level of service first gets determined which is then translated into a specific medical code. Only after coding do they become fit enough for use in insurance claim. Hospitals and physicians use specific types of software that is used to manage the different medical claims. Such claim management software must ideally make the process easier.Doctors using such claims management software can easily track and manage their entire claims and also get quicker reimbursements from the insurance companies. Some of the main features of such claim manage...
