Personally I don't see a lot of nice possibilities around Freelance Search Engine Optimization for 2008 . For the Rat it will be a hard job to digg niches in the corn-bins of Web2.0. Especially those ones with a high Page Ranks and top social bookmarking scores. From technical point we will do more AJAX and RSS (ads and images) optimization, besides everlasting optimization of CSS/XHTML for always green browsers. At last we will meet optimization for Mobiles, or at least for mobile sites. From SEO guru's point of view in everyday Search Engine Optimization practice SEO Freelancer will meet next: 1. Booth of SEMANTIC SEARCH ENGINES. That means more attention to Knols by Google, Hakia, Powerset, Twine, Freebase, AdaptiveBlue, Snap, and others. 2. Mobile videoconferencing boost. What about Social Bookmarking Statistics (SBS) of your site? How popular is your site and can you tell how many times pages of your domain were bookmarked by visitors with a help of Social Bookmarking Services, such as del.icio.us, digg, reddit, simpy, furl or stumbleupon and others? For my recent SEO project site with 20.000+ pages I wanted to get Social Bookmarking Statistics. I started with a simple queries, kind of http://digg.com/search?section=all&s=www. mysite.com just to see how many times site was digged. That approach showed, that the data, which popular social boookmarking services collect, has dynamical unconsistent character and can't be used as a foundation of solid practical SBS. Soon I googled resources which trying to be all-in-one SBS collectors: backtags popuri.us socialmeter Unfortunately no one delivers correct results.

Hitwise US reported of top search engines in August, 2007. Not suprisingly Google has 64% of the search market. But what suprised me - is low percent for MSN, but well... Launched in November 2006 mobile social network EZ Gree (Japan) passed one million users in July 2007. That says sooner or later SEO Freelancers will work hard to be a SEO professionals of social mobile arena. Concerning Motorola is planning to install Linux on 60 percent of its handsets within two years, we have to be well informed on mobile SEO practice.
