Your personal brand is greater than your blog posts
2007-11-26 00:21:00
I’ve been investigating the popularity of non-post pages within blogs for the past few months. To no surprise, personal brand pages are more popular than any blog posts. You ask why? Let’s go over the reasoning behind this phenomenon. In order to establish a connection between your writing and your brand, readers hunger for a ...

Personal brand contact forms vs direct lines vs social networks
2007-11-21 17:14:00
We have all come across personal websites, whether a blog or theirname.com, that enable contact forms, without email addresses. Personal brand websites should maintain direct methods of communication, such as AIM, Skype, email or even your phone number (Robert Scoble does it). In a web 1.0 world, contact forms were acceptable, based ...

New Game: Match the personal brand to the product brand
2007-11-16 10:59:00
For all of you that have been following my blog and have played Brand Autopsy before, I have invented a brand new game for you (no pun intended). This game will have no winners or losers, but will surely create conversation. The game is called “brand matchup.” As my readers, you get to choose which product brand matches up to the personal brand listed, by leaving a comment on this post. On subsequent posts, there will be themes for the product brand, such as the theme of coffee, as you may view below, as well as a famous personal brand. When you think of Bill Gates, Chairman of Microsoft, what brand of coffee comes to mind?

How not to brand yourself when communicating with others
2007-11-15 12:37:00
In the majority of my posts, I highlight and analyze the positive aspects of personal branding and how they apply to your lives. There are people who approach branding differently, and sometimes, in effect, hurt their own brands. Not everyone is perfect and I do receive some emails and messages that resemble the negative aspect of personal branding. Instead of calling this person out by name, thus damaging his reputation or brand online, I have left it anonymous. Part of my personal brand is not singling out individuals, unless they grant permission or ask for a brand assessment. I didn’t block him, but I am no longer friends with him on Facebook. A few days later, I got yet another email from this person: “I notice two of your key brand values are resourcefulness and creativity. Neither of these seemed much in evidence when you responded me to my comment on Facebook about your taste for Aston Martin cars by simply removing me from your list of friends. I thought t...

If your blog only offers standard text posts, then those that consume media differently will be swayed to subscribe to other blogs that provide that service. ...

2007-11-02 11:31:00
