Too Bad I Can?t ?CTRL+C? Myself
2008-06-09 18:27:00
This weekend was a good one. I was at the beach and got a little darker. I do not go to the beach too much not really a ‘lay down on the sand for 4 hours’ type of guy. I kinda of feel I am wasting time just laying on my towel. But peer pressure among females suck and I ended up going for about 4 hours and left with another group of people I met at the beach. While I was at the beach I had projects that had to get done. One of them was integrating a theme I found into Wordpress. I actually like this theme and found it hard to start coding it for Wordpress, I didn’t mind doing it but I feel like I am wasting time doing it. I went a head and found a freelancer a couple days prior to to this past Saturday to go ahead and implement the theme with Wordpress. I made sure I checked out his previous work and portfolio etc. It only took this person 2 days to go ahead and implement all the features of Wordpress into the new layout I found. BUT there was a problem, messy codin...

adCenter Competitive Advantage Workshop
2008-06-06 17:18:00
This morning one of my affiliate friends pinged me and told me about adCenter Competitive Advantage Training in New York. Since I am having a piss off hard time with Microsoft adCenter I decided to join, I mean its dirt cheap! The speaker at this training session is Mary O’Brien. I have not personally heard of her but I do not mind learning from an expert. There are three sessions: a morning, afternoon, and full. I will be registering for the full sessions since it is only 150$. Wow that is amazing! The best part is if you have a promotional code you get 100$ towards your MSN account! Now that means I only really paid for this sessions at the price of $50! Now you can’t beat that at all. New York is not just the only place they are having this. They are currently having these sessions elsewhere across the states. You can register to the following places: June 17, 2008: New York ? Doubletree Metropolitan June 19, 2008: Los Angeles ? Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles July 1, 2...

Telling Stories around the Uber Camp Fire
2008-06-04 16:22:00
Earlier yesterday, I was reading Uber Affiliate and I just found out Paul has launch his new project. Once I found out he has released his new program, I went ahead and tried to contact him for a podcast. I got him late night while he was going through applications for his Uber Camp . I actually met Paul at Affiliate Summit West 2008. I met him personally and it was great to talk to him for a little bit during dinner with Aff Spy and others. I hope I get to meet him during ASE and get into a more detailed conversation. But onto the UberCamp podcast special! Paul has been seen on the net because of his big checks and big screen TVs and even hot girlfriend! Paul has great tips on his blog about affiliate marketing and has a lot of supporters from his blog alone. He is not just an affiliate marketer he is a fellow blogger. I remember back in the day he didn’t post that much and as he gained fans, he became addicted! But Now Paul has released a new program or membership forum call...

Summer Time! Does it Mean Slow Blog Posts?
2008-06-03 18:15:00
So it is finally June and the weather here in NJ is looking nicer and nicer by the day. What does this mean? It may mean that I may not be posting a lot during the summer because of yard work, beach time, jogging outdoors, workouts, etc. So what is the majority of the blogosphere doing on days or seasons that are just super nice and do not want to do any work? I will still post, especially if I am working on a project or doing something that will be beneficial to my readers and the internet. I mean I get emails sometimes about how much I am writing and how I have a lot of content. But I do not post on the weekend, its my time to catch up on other projects and catch up on life stuff as well. Now that the summer is coming up, I may even slow down on a lot of other projects so I can get a little darker and enjoy the sun. But I do not think I will be losing my touch in posting, I may have pre written post with time stamps so it may seem I am writing everyday. Or I might actually slow do...

Money Making Weekend Recap
2008-06-02 19:00:00
This past weekend I was really busy and now I am tired. I actually just want to relax today but some work has to be done. Well this past weekend I have done a lot of things such as create a new sales page for a new digital product, bought a new affiliate system, graphic designers, logo contests, forum, and I think that is it. Below is just going to be a small recap of what I was doing this weekend. Also another great aspect was receiving an email from Market Leverage to sponsor a contest! So I will be hosting a contest soon sometime next week and Market Leverage is providing the great prizes, including an iPod! Okay so enough talk and let me break down my weekend: Digital Product Creation: BANS Premium Template Packages So after taking a survey and researching BANS forums, I decided to go ahead and make a new set of templates for the BANS community. I actually partnered up with Neil from NeilsWeb to help speed up the process. Neil is like my graphic designer and I met him via twitt...

Ian Fernando UNPLUGGED
2008-05-31 00:49:00
So I was reading Zac Johnson’s blog and saw the first published magazine for Feed Front. I was hoping to find mine in the mail later today but didn’t. So I was reading and browsing and then I saw a picture of a person I seen before. This person is pretty cool and has been seen on the blogosphere multiple times. He has a really unique blog and aspects to several types of marketing and making money online. Ahh look its Ian Fernando . Who me? I was kinda of surprise to see myself in the magazine! Matter of fact I am very excited and honored. I want to thank Shawn Collin for a great time at Affiliate Summit West and I will definitely be at Affiliate Summit East in Boston this year. The magazine is filled with great information and recaps a lot of what happened at Affiliate Summit West. Also it has a collection of information that is happening in the affiliate atmosphere. Te magazine is filled with a lot of pictures and it is very visual. If you missed ASW then having this mag...

Squeezing the Juice Out of your Audience
2008-05-30 01:51:00
The best way to get stats is survey a lot of your readers or users. I have done this many times with free polls in the past, even before I bought a domain. Now I have a domain, a self hosted script is good to have and a powerful survey tool is crucial. I am currently using Lime Survey, which use to be known as phpSurveyor. I think this is one of the most versatile scripts out there that can easily capture the necessary data needed to help with your marketing. Lime Survey is very user friendly but it takes a while to get use to. So to me it was ‘ehh’ user friendly and I found myself taking the whole day to just mess around with the system. There are images and the interface is a bit bulky but straight to the point. There are multiple ways to create and edit surveys, the only thing that bothered me was creating the survey. Creating the survey was fairly easy until I was given the option of choosing, text, check box, options, drop downs etc. The options kinda of go into a ...

How Do You Make Money Online?
2008-05-28 19:29:00
You need to upgrade your Flash Player Above are the stats of the front page poll: How Do you Make Money Online ? I was interested on how my readers make money online. Plus I like to create the interaction with me and the readers. Also this can show what is popular on the make money online genre. Some choices interact with one another and I expected close results. For example Affiliate Marketing and Blogging are very close, because when you blog and write reviews you tend to throw in an affiliate link. Also, I wanted to do a quick case study on my readers. I wanted to know where I should concentrate my blog towards too. I tend to just write whatever comes to my mind or what I currently just finished or have/will be doing in the future. My content seems on and off and I wanted to know where I should gear myself to help my readers and see where my general audience is. There has been some speculations about IanFernado.com as my domain and why I chose it. A lot of emails say my blog real...

Dissecting Aggregated Keywords from SEOMoz
2008-05-26 19:49:00
You know keywords are important. They are very important because it is the only way that online marketers can know what one is interested in or looking for. But how do you find what is popular and what is in demand? There are so many sites out there that can help you with this. Sch sites as Yahoo Buzz, eBay Pulse, Amazon Popular Tags, etc. There are even sites that provide surveys and publicly post the results on their websites. These tools are great assets to what is in demand and what the market currently wants. But filtering out through these websites can be a pain. Taking data from one source and then another can be a real pain. What if we can aggregate all these sites out there and pull the necessary data that we need? There is such a site out there and it is a very popular source of information and blog as well, SEOMoz. SEOMoz is a great site which has a lot of popular SEO tools, one being their aggregated Popular Search Tool. This specific tool pulls popular keywords from Ama...

Onwards to Promotion and Marketing
2008-05-22 17:24:00
I was watching the games last night, so I apologize for the ‘hysteria’ I may create in the video. So quickly I want to talk about pricing before we go into promotion and getting traffic to your product, since we have not discussed about pricing in any of the videos I have done. So how do you price your product? There are several factors that I think are important value to the market and time spent on creation. These two are very controversial and can be argued many ways. I see it this way: How unique is your product to the market? Are you duplicating a product How long did it take you or your freelance to create the product? How much did you pay a freelance to create your product? How many changes did you have to edit? What is your competition looking like? These are the things I look for when trying to price a product, the end price maybe lower than what you expect or even higher. Just don’t let greed take place. You want to price it so that it is reasonable for...

Implementing Your Product for a Sale
2008-05-21 18:05:00
There are a lot of ways to implement your product for finalizing; the most popular one is providing a direct download to your end users, especially if it is a digital product. There are a lot of things to think about when starting to sell your digital product or physical product. First how are you going to sell it? How are you going to present it to your audience? How will you entice readers vs buyers? The answer to all of this is simply creating a sales page with good sales copy. A sales copy is one of those long sales pages that everyone hates or loves. I have done several sales copy for all of my products with the exception of the newest product I released, I use my blog. Aspects of creating a good sales copy page thingy (my experience): State the Problem Show there is an error in your niche and explain why it is a flaw. Describe the facts about the flaw and how it affects someone from either prospering or doing better. Solve the Problem Pretty self explanatory. Solve the prob...

Brainstorming your Product and Maybe Outsource it?
2008-05-20 19:34:00
Now that you have your niche specific market, how do you go about creating your product? Ofcourse write it down and be organized. There are several ways to stay up to date yourself and start making your digital product. First write down all your ideas, just write and don’t think. Doing this will help you gather your ideas all at once and keeps your brain thinking about your product and idea. Once you have your messy ideas written down, organize them into categories and see which ones has similarities. Grouping keyword phrases or ideas easily helps the expansion of your product or services. Next just expand on those ideas asking What, Where, When, How questions to help easily expand your product. Once you have expanded start creating your product and there are several ways to create your product. You can do it yourself or paying someone to do it for you. In the past I have paid several freelancers to either makes templates, ebook covers, header images, reports, etc. This is the...

The Problem is your Niche Market
2008-05-19 18:57:00
This week will be digital product creation week. I am copying the famous video blogger, Mark from 45n5 style and will be blogging outside, it was a nice weather and why not. I will talk to you about how I went about and found the perfect product and profited off it. Today we will discuss what kind of product to create and for what market. First we need to find the market we want to find a product for. You can not just make a product and expect it to sell, we need to do a case study. The easiest way to find the perfect market for your product is to find a problem. Once you have that problem attempt to solve it with your idea. You can target any audience but will your product really sell? Will it be successful? How successful will it be? First target your major audience and find a problem in that audience and attempt to resolve that problem. Let’s take my recent product Build a Niche Store Premium Themes: Package One. Audience I want to Target: Build a Niche Community Problem :...

Market Leverage Came to My Door
2008-05-18 22:41:00
Market Leverage stopped at my door step yesterday and I am just getting to open the box and found some goodies. I kinda of expected it because everyone was getting a gift basket of some kind. I got the regular stuff with the awesome USB Pen. I actually like this ‘I’m Blogging This’ shirt, I will be wearing this shirt at conventions to let everyone know I am going to be blogging this. LOL Market Leverage has done a real good job at getting viral and they are doing it really well at it. They have done group t shirts of popular bloggers and send out specific gifts to bigger name bloggers and affiliate marketers. They have also been buying ad space on popular blogs as well. You may have seen their banners on several blogs and websites. They have recently released a new form of their website, the reason they are heavily promoting their new website and network. I personally have not yet tried Market Leverage yet (in testing today/tomorrow). BUT I have been watching Marke...

Glow in the Dark Tour: Bananas!
2008-05-18 17:01:00
So yesterday I was trying to fix all my errors I got with transferring my domain (I will talk about it later on). After a long day of working, it was time to get ready for the Glow in the Dark Tour with Lupe Fiasco, NERD, Rihanna, Kanye West! Though I did not get a chance to do some PPC yesterday, I hope to get it in later today. I want to give you some updates about the Glow in the Dark Tour. First, I couldn’t take pictures because they did not allow cameras, boo! Luckily I found some pictures on flickr of people who snuck their camera in. I took a picture and posted it on twitter via my phone. I was all the way in the back with my peoples because we kinda of got there late and missed the Lupe Fiasco act. It is all good. Because Lupe came out with Kanye and deeesstroyyed the stage! Other than expensive foods and disgusting restrooms and the light rain it was bananas! The concert itself was crazy. Crazy young people jumping around and random fights happening. My friends and I ...

Going to IZEAFest: Is it about ReBranding?
2008-05-16 19:53:00
So the other day I bought my 50$ pass for IzeaFest. It only cost 50$ which is the cheapest convention pass ever! If you do not want to go to convention because of the high price tags of $500 to $1000, then this is the best deal you can get! But it brings a big controversy for me and maybe others. I thought to myself why is this convention so cheap with a lot of very popular speakers. I then took a look at the hotel rate and it is really expensive, close to $300 a night and the convention is September 11th to the 13th. It is really 2 days with one day pre partying. But I do not think it is about the expensive hotel either, but more of a re branding for the company. Jason Calacanis came into mind pretty quickly because he stated PayPerPost changed their name to Izea, a keynote at Affiliate Summit West. I thought to myself it might be a re branding of the company which is why the convention is ridiculously cheap. Fifty dollars is really nothing if you are going to network, socialize, a...

Fast Income with Digital Products
2008-05-15 17:08:00
Sometimes when I am down with affiliate marketing and I need fast money to get back some budget back or if I think there is a market for a product, I attack it as fast as possible with a digital product. Well there was a market for such a product that I decided to go ahead and attack. I have been creating some Build a Niche Stores lately and I hate the fact I will look like everyone else. When I first started it took me several hours to play around with the code and template. So with me wanting to be different, I bet there are others out there that probably have 50 or more BANS sites which look all alike. I thought to myself if I want to be unique there has to be ONE other person that wants to stick out and be different. I decided to go ahead and create 3 templates which can be easily customizable via colors and themes, base on the niche. Build a Niche Store is a powerful script which is being downloaded all the time. I keep getting checks from Clickbank and when checking my stats i...

Auto Responders: Free vs Paid Service
2008-05-14 17:48:00
As you already know I have switched my email auto responder service to Aweber. I was having way too many issues with my prior service provider and need to upgrade. Now there is an issues with selecting an auto responder service. There are free scripts out there and then there are services which you pay monthly for. I am writing this because Chad from CDF networks tweeted the other day “why use aweber over phplist (free)? are people just pushing aweber because of the affiliate program? need some input.” Tweet! I retweeted him back a short response “the only reason why I use aweber is because of mass mailing all my optins at the same time and getting no errors from my host” Tweet! A lot of others jumped in and helped Chad make his decision. There are free ones out there which can be used but there is an issue especially if you are using a shared hosting. If you have a dedicated hosting then there is really no issues. There are deliver ability issues, optins, ...

Just Finished: Google TV Ads Webinar
2008-05-13 21:20:00
I just finished listening to the Google TV Ads Webinar . I was informed by a great friend, Wes Mahler, of this webinar and immediately joined. I was 3 minutes late but it was well worth the session. I do not see myself using Google TV ads but they brought up some great strategies which is typically generic for PPC. What is Google TV Ads? Google TV Ads is a flexible, all-digital system for buying more accountable and measurable TV advertising. Using the familiar AdWords interface, you can launch a TV advertising campaign in minutes. Source: Google TV Ads The webinar provided a lot of stats and images and used slides to illustrate what they were talking about. They say TV is one of the more popular advertisements and has higher conversions. I do not know if I am allowed to show you the slide because they have another webinar on June 4th 2008. So just to be safe I will not post any images of the slides that I have viewed via the webinar. But it was very interesting to see Google step in...
Stay Board: Keeping a Reminder Close By
2008-05-12 19:49:00
This past weekend I finally got around hanging my bulletin boards and my white board. I love my boards because it helps me stay much more organize than trying to write it down on a piece of paper, which I may lost later in the day. I am at my computer most of the day and a lot of ideas come to my head from just thinking out loud, writing a post, or reading other blogs/websites. I just simply spin my chair around and write it on my white board. If I am watching a video, I usually have my notepad out and start jotting down notes. After I am done with the video I take my notes and pin it up against the bulletin board. I will even print informative articles and pin it up as well. Flight tickets or passes to conventions I pin up on my bulletin board, it serves a constant reminder to me. I can check and take the ideas and start to generate off it. These boards help me stay organize, no matter how messy the board is I can find what I need. Let’s break it down: White Board /Dry Erase B...

I Hate Networks that Use Direct Track
2008-05-08 17:11:00
So I have another issue and this might be the last continuation from my prior post about tracking and affiliate managers. I have a total of 3 networks that use Direct Track for their tracking system within their network. I have had the worst and first time experience with one network and they have decided to go ahead and work with me and work with payouts to stay with their network, but I think I might change my mind. I am thinking about deleting all my accounts that I am a part of which uses Direct Tracking. I find this specific tool is a horrible piece of software that does tracking. I am part of a variety of networks and everyone else’s reporting system is far better than Direct Tracking it is just such a bad system. Here are some issues I have: Too many reports that are generated that provide useless information Interface is clumsy and poorly done Dashboard for Offers is cluttered and provide pointless information SUBID Tracking sucks! Direct Tracking links are noticeable...

Just Bought an LLC - My First Reactions
2008-05-07 22:28:00
First of all read about corporations!! I just registered my LLC and bought the domain name for my company. With a lot of reading and asking a lot of people on my twitter, Facebook, AIM, YM, etc - I finally bought and registered my company name. This is a big jump for me as I was not going to register an LLC until I was really banking. But after reading a lot of articles and blog posts, I decided to go a head and buy one. When I first got into buying my company name I wasn’t really that interested. I was telling myself to do all my projects under my name and affiliate marketing under my name. I didn’t want to go ahead to open a new bank acct for my business, have it registered, deal with lawyers and all that, so I just waited. I actually started researching corporations after reading Zac Johnson’s post on INC and LLC differences. This actually interested me to look into getting a company name. I was doing everything under my name and I wanted my projects to be under...
Blog Sales Copy vs. Lengthy Sales Letter
2008-05-06 17:58:00
The other day I put up a product for sale which surprisingly did pretty well with the initial launch. The product was my Build a Niche Store Premium Templates. These specific templates were meant for the over saturated eBay virtual store on the internet. I personally like to be different and when I first started using BANS, I quickly went a head and customized my own layout, trying to be different. With that said I started seeing more and more store created by BANS. How did I know? Well the layout structure was the same, then it clicked - sell templates! Since this is a new product that I have launch, I also decided to do a sales copy different from the traditional lengthy sales letter. I went ahead and did a blog post. In the past there are a lot of people that speak of the lengthy blog post and how there seems to be a scammy feeling about it. The sales letter is way too long with way too many highlighted text and over exaggerated material. A lot of people actually frown on this ty...

Upgraded! Who Benefits More?
2008-05-03 05:20:00
The lack of post by me is my mistake and I apologize, I recently just moved and now I want to continue my blogging and my experiences with ll of you. It is funny how life can relate to marketing and the things you read online. While moving and relaxing in between I have been reading a lot of blog with redesigns or sites that were recently just redesigned. With the upgrades we do and the decision we make to change, alter, upgrade; we need to think about the ones that will be affected most. For example this blog has been through many facelifts and redesigns, but I did it for the uniqueness of the blogging world and also to benefit my readers. I feel the traditional blog style is too cumbersome and pretty repetitive among the internet, I like being different. Also, there are changes that you make that will just benefit your readers instead of just yourself. I found Mark from 45n5.com has recently change his style of his blog. He has made his blog strictly for his users, removing all th...

2008-04-30 05:48:00
I have a great person for you! If you are into the affiliate marketing industry or promote CPA offers, then you know how tracking is very crucial for you and how you are gathering your source of income. Tracking overall is a very important way to track your earnings and investments. With affiliate marketing it is even more important, there are so many things to capture and dissect. For example: keywords that convert, location of the conversion, which ad group is doing better than another, where is the traffic coming from, etc. There is just so many things to dissect. A lot of ppc affiliate marketers usually track a lot of their information from other networks and compile it all into one. Other hire freelancers to create a nice little program to capture data the way they want it. What about the noobs out there that want to get into affiliate marketing especially PPC? Enter Tracking202. Tracking202 is a system that actually tracks your conversions, traffic, type of browser, keyword co...

Sale Pages and Gurus and Marketing Morals
2008-04-24 17:34:00
Recently there is a lot of talk about gurus and the way they market by means of super long sales pages. A lot of ideas have been going around about these sales pages. For example SCAM ALERT! Not a lot of people trust them. Is it because the people that know about marketing are marketers and know the benefits of a sales page? From an end user that does not know any better they may not think that. I have several digital products and I promote by means of a sales letter method. Mine are not super long but it gets the idea straight to the point for the end user. There are also arguments that the gurus are all associated with sales pages, yet I am not one of them. There are assumptions these sales pages are all about deceptive marketing, which I do not think so. The reason I bring this up is because you may have read all around is Joel’s Adsense book for 9.95. I won’t go into detail about - but someone called him out and then he publicly apologized. I have a question though -...

Be More Productive when You Max Out?
2008-04-23 19:16:00
As you know I can not start my PPC campaign until I pay off my credit cards. A lot of you has helped me chose the right cards to really run my ppc campaigns. I have been using my personal card and now it is maxed out. I already received several payments and I am in the process of paying my credit card and then Adwords. Once that is done I have some other plans I would like to do prior to getting back into PPC. But what have I been doing while I have not been marketing? Well I have been trying to gain more traffic to my blog and started putting more content on my other websites. I also started 2 new websites and I am currently adding new content to it, so I still have been busy. I also have set new goals and new projects for the future. I also have been working and re editing one of my sales letters as one of my new digital products has been modified. I am also working on a new bundle digital product and creating a sales page for that as well. One last project I have been working on ...
Trying to Unleash the Fat Man Within
2008-04-23 02:07:00
Today I received a cool t shirt and I decided to go a ehad and post about it because I wanted to show my physique - lol. So Israel owed me a t-shirt when we met at Affiliate Summit West. I met him at the Share a Sale Party and he promised me a t-shirt. I tried to tag within him the next day then the next day, but never caught up with him, so he mailed me one. THANKS! NICE! Israel blogs on FatManUnleashed about being healthy. He also has a very niche specific social bookmarking system called HealthRanker. Israel and I also had a great discussion on how you should be passionate about your niche and life overall. I talk with Israel online and we discuss ideas and exchange help topics. I read Israel’s blog on exercise mostly. Even though his blog is geared to getting healthy most of his tips are helpful and has a comical twist to it. I have mentioned Israel’s blog several times (even before ASW) within my blog especially if I digress off topic and talk about my exercise or g...
The Power of Networking Outside of Clubs
2008-04-22 19:53:00
Ad:Tech is done and I want to discuss about networking. Networking is very powerful where ever you go and even more powerful at conventions. There are a lot of like minded people surrounding you, which means it is easier to talk to those type of people and discuss openly about topics. Ad:Tech was awesome and I had a great experience. The down side is there were very little formal parties or gatherings. Affiliate networks housed their parties which were more private and more interaction while bigger networks or joined networks through the biggest loudest party on the block. While the parties are entertaining I found the private dinners and smaller gatherings more indulging of information. It is more interactive and even more talkative. I an express myself more and talk about business at the same time. I think networks start these big parties to attract smaller time people. I mean I was sucked in to parties because I am a party guy. I love to go out and have a good time all the time....
