Black Sabbath formed in Aston, Birmingham, England in 1966 under the name Polka Tulk Blues Company (soon shortened to "Polka Tulk" in 1968), and later were called Earth, playing blues rock and hard rock.Black Sabbath are: (left to right) (note: classic lineup)Ozzy Osbourne - VocalsTony Iommi - GuitarGeezer Butler - BassBill Ward - DrumsGuitarist Tony Iommi was greatly influenced both by Hank Marvin's heavy guitar performances in the band Cliff Richard and the Shadows, and by jazz guitar, particularly that of Django Reinhardt. Skid Row - 18 and Life
2007-06-04 20:22:00
Skid Row is an American heavy metal band which became the hair metal prototypes of the late 1980s metal scene and were reasonably successful until they were eclipsed by the Seattle grunge bands in 1991.Skid Row has released five full-length albums, an EP, a compilation album and a live recording. Their first two albums, Skid Row (1989) and Slave to the Grind (1991), are considered the band's best known works to date. Their last full-length album, Revolutions Per Minute, came out on October 24, 2006.They are often associated with hair metal, partly due to their appearance and their sound on their debut album, Skid Row which spawned the hits "18 and Life " and "Youth Gone Wild" for the band. They would eventually go on to make music more akin to Thrash metal with Hard rock leanings. Some are of the opinion that during their later years with Sebastian Bach as vocalist, the band resembled Lääz Rockit in sound and image. The band bought the name Skid Row from Gary Moore's first...

Fear Factory - Ressurection
2007-05-31 21:31:00
While digging around looking at some live Fear Factor y vids for today, I did stumble across this studio video for Ressurection, which is a great track from the album Obsolete. Fear Factory is a Los Angeles, California based metal band. They formed in 1990 and have since released seven full-length albums and a number of singles and remixes, over the course of which they have evolved from a succession of, as well as steadily pioneered a hybrid of, the styles of death metal, industrial metal, groove metal and alternative metal; the resultant techniques in sound and vocal styles proving to be enormously influential on the extreme metal scene from the mid-90s and onwards. Their most recent album, Transgression, described as a more experimental and atypical effort, has also contained elements of pop music and progressive metal. Christian Olde Wolbers - guitar Byron Stroud - bassRaymond Herrera - drums Burton C. Marduk - Baptisim by Fire
2007-05-30 18:29:00
Marduk's predominant lyrical topics are Satanism, anti-Christianity, Biblical wars, Nazism and World War II. The latter two are a later addition to their lyrical / conceptual themes, stemming from their 1999 release Panzer Division Marduk; quickly growing among their fans' favorites. Marduk have released more and more songs relating to those dark but fascinating chapters of human history such as "The Hangman of Prague" (monicker of Prague "Reichsprotektor" Reinhard Heydrich), "Night of the Long Knives", "Deathmarch" and others. It has to be noted, however, that by singing about Nazi Germany, Marduk do not subscribe to the tenets of 'national socialist black metal' scene (NSBM), their approach not being justificatory or praising.Marduk's predominant lyrical topics are Satanism, anti-Christianity, Biblical wars, Nazism and World War II. S.O.D - Seasoning the Obese
2007-05-26 20:31:00
So I was sitting here trying to decide what today's video would be. Thumbing through my collection of DVDs, looking in my media server and scoping around on YouTube when it hit me that today's video had to be from a classic 80's band. While digging through all the usual suspects, I stumbled over an old S.O.D. video and it was on. So today I bring you:Stormtroopers of Death, more commonly known as S.O.D., formed in New York in 1985. They are commonly credited as being among the first bands to fuse hardcore punk with thrash metal into a new sound dubbed crossover thrash. They have also been the target of controversy due to their politically-incorrect lyrics, in particular a track named "Speak English or Die".S.O.D. were made up of memebers of Anthrax (Scott Ian and Charlie Benante), Nuclear Assault (Danny Lilker) and Psychos (Billy Milano) after the idea for a drawing Scott Ian used to do if a character named "Sargent D". An interesting note of the band is that they release an albu...

Satyricon is a Norwegian black metal band. The band credits their first album, Dark Medieval Times, with starting a black metal sub-genre dubbed "medieval metal." On the next album The Shadowthrone this medieval spirit was preserved.Satyricon are:Satyr - Vocals, Guitar, Keyboard, BassFrost - DrumsSatyricon released their first album Dark Medieval Times in 1993 and has released five more since then; The Shadowthrone, Nemesis Divina, Rebel Extravaganza, Volcano and their latest Now, Diabolical was released in 2006. Motörhead - Orgasmatron

Today we have a look at one of the most influential bands in the history of metal, Motörhead . Motörhead are (left to right):Phil Campbell - GuitarMikkey Dee - DrumsLemmy - Bass and VocalsMotörhead was formed in 1975 by Lemmy after he was thrown out of another band "Hawkwind" for "doing the wrong drugs" as he put it. Lemmy's stated aim was for the outfit to be, "the dirtiest rock n' roll band in the world" and that, "if Motörhead moved in next to you, your lawn would die".Even though Motörhead's first album was released in 1977, the band didn't really hit big until the October 1980 release of the most well known album "Ace of Spades" which included the hit single of the same name. That single reached #15 on the UK Charts and the whole album made it to #4 in the same year. The band's skyrocket to stardom got them not one but two appearances on "Top of the Pops" in October 1980. While metal fans around the world know that Motörhead is ...

Welcome to my new channel! I hope you enjoy the videos and facts I post about each artist each day. Today's video is from Emperor and is one of my personal favorites, "I Am The Black Wizard s". Wikipedia tells us:Emperor is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1991. Over the years, the band's changed to what can be called "extreme symphonic metal" in their later days. They dissolved in 2001, and reformed in late 2005. The group was founded by Samoth on drums and Ihsahn on guitar and vocals.(The full Wikipedia article can be found here)Here's some other facts about Emperor:* Contrary to popular belief, Hellhammer was never a member of Emperor. He did serve as drummer for part of the 1992 tour.* Ihsahn has been/is in several other Norwegian projects such as Peccatum, Thou Shalt Suffer and Zyklon-B. * Ihsahn only uses Ibanez guitars and Line6 gear.
