a lotta my up north heads got wind that i was showcasing Murda today, the second Brooklynite in a row, and i heard a lot of mumbling about why i wasn't spotlighting Papoose instead. the answers are obvious enough, but for all you smart dumb niggas (word to Ironman) ill list a few reasons:1. Murda blew up just as much as Pap, if not more so, within a fraction of the time. he aint have to jack Big L's or Giancana's entire steez for 20 something tapes to do it either.2. can Pap really make a hot track you wanna bump consistently? the dude's got lyrics, even if they are over-rated, but the nigga is just boring as hell lately. all the talent in the world dont mean shit if you dont use it right. when Pap makes a song even half as entertaining as Bullet Bullet, i might throw him up on here.3. affilliations. who does Pap got besides Slay? despite the best efforts of many MCs throughout 06 and so far 07, the Big Apple is still dead. the south still controls the mainstream: all the radio spins, all the promotion, all the (waning) sales. there are a few rare exceptions that manage to avoid bricking entirely, but even then their sales are less than expected. that kingdom come shit shoulda sold at least 5x for all the promotion Hov put into it...and after all of 06 being dominated with Kufi Jones's bullshit hip hop is dead gimmick, the album couldn't even go plat. however, there is some hope for NY this year: Curtis is gonna do numbers despite neither of his current singles really being smash hits or even good songs, Wu-Tang (lol) dropping a group album sometime this year should at least go plat just off nostalgia and to see how much the posse has declined since their heyday. i'm sure there are others but i dont care about them at this point and i dont think anyone else does either.so you might be asking why i'm doing...
