083 Maxime Dangles - Speicher 59 (ep) (2008)
2008-04-21 04:43:00
"I'm so excited, I just can't hide it...!!!" hum... (-.-') sorry, I got carried away. MaXXXime Dangles is yet another producer that I thought his time was running out, but fortunately for me, I was wrong. I could keep babling about the tracks and the artist himself, but for the ones giving a crap, just check his myspace profile and most importantly, download and create your own opinion.Leave a comment with your e-mail for the password!

082 Kore - Analog Muzik EP (2008)
2008-04-14 18:42:00
Well, this artist I have to admit that I have absolutely no idea of who the f*ck he/she is, and I'm too lazy to even go beyond discogs to discover. The thing that matters is that it's a dandy vinyl, just begging to be explored. Hug.Leave a comment with your e-mail for the password!

081 Popof - Dust Storm (ep) (2008)
2008-04-06 23:48:00
Pop pop, here's the 2nd vinyl of my mini selection, this time it's Mr. Popof or Alexander Paounov that comes into scene, in my opinion, with one of his best releases so far. Don't be shy, and just download the damn thing. Of course that if you aren't into Tech-House and minimal, don't even bother to download any of the four releases. 080 Gui Boratto - Anunciación (ep) (2008)
2008-04-04 22:53:00
This is the first of 4 vinyls I decided to share with you this month. Gui Boratto is a well known and respected Brazilian producer, composer and architect. His first release was for the soundtrack of "Cidade de Deus" a.k.a. "City of God", but since then he has produced for major record companies such as, EMI, Kompakt, Harthouse, etc. Be sure to check this vinyl, I think it's got a very clever and worked up feeling around it, like somehow, through the samples and synths and bass, the music was reminding us that we liiiiiveee in a beautiful wooorld (f*cked up by f*cked up people). Thank you, come again :>Leave a comment with your e-mail for the password!

079 Somatic Responses - Digital Darkness (2008)
2008-03-06 17:38:00
Probably many of you never heard Somatic Responses, but if you are into drum'n'bass and breakcore then I have the perfect album for you."Digital Darkness " is the latest work by the two brothers John and Paul Healy. They reside in a little industrial mining community located in the southwest region of Wales, but I'm sure that their minds are way bigger than the average citizen of that small town (I don't suppose they are all producers of alternative electronic music).Already with a background full of releases, the two brothers continue to show their originality, always creating something new and different from album to album. And yet again musicometro brings you an alternative to the shitty and suffocating music that goes around these days, helping those who need a way out of "shopping mall like" type of music.

078 Sebastien Tellier - Sexuality (2008)
2008-02-14 00:34:00
One might think that, from my previous posts, I became obsessed with french electronic music. That's not entirely true. It's not as much of an obsession as it is not recent. French electronic music always had its place in my life, either in my ears, my mp3 player, record bag, desk or simply my shelves. It has changed the way electronic music is done along the years and recently its impact is getting bigger, again.Names like Justice, Air, Mr. Oizo and Daft Punk (to name only a few) have been publicly acclaimed and received awards all over the world.Being so close to France as I am (and by the power of the internet, as we all are) it's only natural to see the influence that their music has on me and my being. That being said let's skip to business.Under Air's label, Record Makers, Sebastien Tellier will be releasing is fourth full-length work, "Sexuality ". Produced by Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo (Daft Punk, anyone?), this is the first, and possibly one of the best, surprises of t...

077 Bvdub - No Turning Back (ep) (2008)
2008-01-22 14:36:00
As my first release in 2008 , I bring you Bvdub a.k.a Brock Van Wey, a talented young american producer, that suddenly appeared in the ambient/dub techno scene (his first release was in 2007).The EP "No Turning Back " is his latest work, and quite a good one I might add. Expressive beats and incredibly comforting synths, compose what became to be, in my opinion, a fine release by an artist that I've learned to respect. By the way, don't forget to visit his site, he's got some amazing mixes, free to download :)"Remembering to Forget" is a lovely track.
076 Etienne De Crecy - Live On Neptune (2007)
2008-01-18 01:44:00
There are two kinds of people in the world: the ones that read this crap and the ones who don't. Basically, if you're reading this either you have nothing better to do or your download speed really sucks. If you're not reading this then I have nothing to say because you aren't reading it.But if you normally read our reviews and need an excuse to stop that (why?) this one is the post to choose. Etienne De Crecy essentially says it all. You can go straight to the download. In 1996, by the alias of Motorbass, allied to Philippe Zdar (now with Cassius), they created the album that would start what now is called the french touch, "Pansoul". Later that year, this time on his own, he brought to public "Super Discount", followed by "Tempovision" in 2000 (this one being one of my favorite albums of all time) and "Super Discount 2" in 2004. December 2007 was the time for him to release yet another piece of sweet musical art but this time only available in digital format. This album has 6 pi...

075 Kutiman - Kutiman (2007)
2007-12-22 05:31:00
A self-made multi-instrumentalist, Ophir Kutiel comes to us from Tel Aviv, Israel. With only 25 years of existence, this musician, composer and producer has made quite a stir amongst some of the highest rated artists like Gilles Peterson, Diplo and Jazzanova. The first 3 singles from this album ("No Reason For You","No Groove In This Town", "Music Is Ruling My World") are in their majority afro-beat, funk and soul pieces, but the rest of them reach higher and lower places, some of them taking the listener into deeper space. No wonder Elran Dekel makes questions such as "So, you all got you space suits on?" in "No Groove In This Town".Melting Pot Music normally does not disappoint with their releases, and this one ain't no exception. If you're debuting you should it in style and with MPM make no mistake, Kutiman did!So if you're still thinking about the gifts for this Christmas, think no further. Music always makes a good present and, with this release, you will be thanked and reme...

074 Keef Baker - Redeye (2007)
2007-11-17 00:15:00
Keef Baker , (real name: Keith Baker), produces music since 1989. Even though he went to school with a member of the Spice Girls, he didn't suffer any kind of influence by that fact (thank God). After he played in death metal and jazz bands (odd mix indeed), Keith rediscovered music with artists like Skinny Puppy and Autechre, seducing him to the electronic side of music. Since then, his music started suffering mutations, from IDM to Ambient, and Breakcore to Industrial.I found this album in a dusty dark corner of my PC (it had been there since February) and in one of my routine cleanings, I decided to give a second shot to a work that didn't fascinate me in early contacts. Maybe my mood to hear this kind of electronic music has changed since a few months a go, the truth is, that now that I've listened to this album with a different approach, I truly believe I found a pearl lost in the middle of the junkyard. If you want to listen to different melodies, I recommend you this work. 073 Tellier, Oizo and SebastiAn - Steak OST (2007)
2007-11-05 00:27:00
Here's the second one! French style this time.. And a far more recent release too!I'm not much of a OST (Original Soundtrack) fan, but this isn't your regular "every movie has it" kind of score. And that would be because the film itself, Steak , is way out there. Directed by Quentin Dupieux (aka Mr. Oizo) himself, it tells the story of a guy, in 2016, trying to get a face-lift, a requisite to join the Chivers, the most famous gang in town. Insane!Sebastien Tellier and SebastiAn, two of the greatest french musicians of their generation joined the world acclaimed Mr. Oizo (remember Flat Eric?) and put into the making this genius 21 mini-tracks piece of electronic art. Released by Ed Bangers, of course. Here's a glimpse of a scene in the movie and the download.. CHIVERS!!!Leave a comment with your e-mail for the password! ;)

To celebrate our new layout we'll get you not one but two posts, today.Ok, so this album has been published 6 months ago! And everyone already knows about it! So what? Now, for the ones that don't know about it and, worse, for the ones that don't know Coldfinger here it is: Supafacial, The latest work from this duo from Portugal. In 1998, Miguel Cardona had left Blasted Mechanism and joined Margarida Pinto to work on Coldfinger as a way to express his creativity. After a list of memories such as "Beauty of You" (which got an enormous success after being used as soundtrack for a known communications company commercial), "Lucky Star" and "Cover Sleeve", they take us on another journey through trip-hop and electronica. Similarities with artists like EBTG and Massive Attack are obvious and not to be taken lightly.Be sure to check our post #15 - Margarida Pinto - Apontamento, the solo album of Margarida.Without further ado here's the videoclip for the first single, with the same name, ...

Any music follower has certainly heard the name Yukimi Nagano. And the word Koop has surely crossed your eardrum (tons of times if you're an avid reader of this blog, in which case the word Koop has crossed you're cornea, not the ear (wtf?!)).Gothenburg, Sweden, gave birth to artists like José González (also from Peacefrog) and Jens Lekman, not to mention the infamous black metal scene. Yukimi Nagano (voz), Erik Bodin (bateria), Fredrick Källgren (baixo) e Håkan Wirenstrand (teclado) met there, in high school, and have been sharing their love for music ever since, which contributed to their work today, as Litt le Drago n .Maybe pushed up a little by Yukimi's success with their countrymen Koop (again?), without sticking to definitions, after the great acceptance of their first single (Twice/Test), it's time to ear this quartet's first LP.I hope you enjoy this.Leave a comment with your e-mail for the password! ;)Para qualquer aficcionado da música, por certo o nome Yukimi Nagano nã...

070 Feist - The Reminder (2007)
2007-08-17 23:01:00
Leslie, last name Feist , started her career in Calgary, Canada, and has proved to be one of the most prominent folk, indie and pop vocalists. After some collaborations with various artists like Peaches (who she shared a room with (madness!!)), Broken Social Scene and Kings Of Convenience, and the release of two original albums and a remix album, Feist releases her third LP, "The Remi nder ", again with the help of Gonzalez and also Mocky and Jamie Lidell, amongst others. She wrote or co-wrote all the songs and co-produced all the tracks on this project. That makes it even more sublime and concise. This record tells us the personal history of Leslie Feist, exploring all of her skills as a musician, without reaching any sudden conclusion. Involving and melodic sonorities within the indie and folk spectrum is what you'll get if you listen to it carefully.I hope you enjoy it.Leave a comment with your e-mail for the password! ;)Leslie, de último nome Feist, começou a sua carreira musical em...
069 Chromeo - Fancy Footwork (2007)
2007-06-20 22:41:00
If I asked you what an arab/jew partnership in music sounds like, what would you say? Allow me to tell you what this particular one does: fun and enjoyable. Three years after their debut with "She's In Control" and possibly around twenty years late in time, Chrome o bring us their second full-length work, "Fancy Foot work" that will have you looking for your sunglasses and wondering if you've got the energy to keep on dancing.Like an homage to the 80's, P-Thugg e Dave 1, from Montreal, rock our eardrums with a synth funk sound very usual in those times, treated to match the tendances of our times. And now that vintage is fashionable, there's no better way to be successful. They probably won't receive any awards for their lyrics and the music they produce is far from being brilliant, but I can guarantee you that Chromeo will be on the play list of thousands of mp3 players and dj booths all over the globe. Enjoy!P.S.: If you're interested in some more of this genre, check our 6th p...

068 Guy Gerber & Chaim - My Space/Beaches (vinyl) (2007)
2007-06-09 22:49:00
A fine fine release by Guy Gerber & Chaim, two tracks somewhat different but making complete sense being together on this vinyl. The first track "My Space " is kind of a dirty minimal allied to retroish samples, making you feel like you are wandering in space-time continuum catching little stars as you float away (I'm not on drugs). The second track "Beaches ", doesn't transport you to a beach (lol), instead it makes you want to be on a dancefloor just letting yourself go to the sound. The bass on this track is a bit more dirty, and the samples try to eat off little pieces of our brains, still it remains on the minimalistic techno scene, like the first tune. Now that I've read the "review", it seems a bit corny..but I'll leave it this way.Leave a comment with your e-mail for the password! ;)Tendo em conta que Guy Gerber irá visitar o Porto no próximo sábado @ Indústria, decidi pôr este vinyl no blog. 067 Outlines - Our Lives Are Too Short (2007)
2007-05-25 15:50:00
From their studio on the top of Clignancourt, Paris, the french trio Outlines arrive to musicómetro with their first album, "Our lives are too short". Irfane has teamed up with Jerome Hadey and the grafitti artist Jay1 to create this project. It all began in 2002, on a club in London. The night was being hosted by Jazzanova and Gilles Peterson when all of a sudden "Just A Lil' Lovin'" started playing. After some small talk the release of that track on Sonar Kollektiv was discussed. And Outlines was born. The official release only happened on 2005 (due to some sample clearing) and in 2006 the second EP, "Listen To The Drums", was releasing, predicting what bring us here today. With 2007 reaching the end of it's first half, "Our Lives Are Too Short ", the long awaited full-lenght work of this trio is coming out. With the colaborarion of RZA (Wu-Tang Clan), Beat Assailant and Abd Al-Malik, Outlines bring us a project that could possibly achieve the impact of their neighbors Daft Punk a...

Hide your children and let your granny tune up her pacemaker, because this album will blow your tiny littles minds away! I knew that Sublight Records was a decent label, but it'll definitely go up a few stairs in my consideration thanks to this master-piece. I don't know who the singers are, but their voices are absolutely amazing, as for the rest..well, you'll just have to listen to it for yourself. I can only tell one thing, the sounds emanating from my speakers, completely chilled my spine, and made me feel alive. Maybe you'll feel the same, or maybe you'll hate it, or maybe you'll think it's just another mediocre album. 065 Calvin Harris - I Created Disco (2007)
2007-05-11 21:13:00
It's been a while since I listened to a good "disco" album. The scottish producer Calvin Harris has made a successfull reinvention of this music style, and at the same time dug it up from the grave, proving that disco is not dead. This is his first debut album, and after twenty seconds of listening to the first track, you get immediately hooked to the sound, and you just wish that the second track will be as good (and it is). What I admire about this artist is that he produced the album with very simple instruments and equipments, he also gave his voice to the manifest with the excuse that no one in his town could sing how he wanted. I truly recommend Mr. Calvin Harris 's work. Oh, I almost forgot, be sure to check out his myspace. Cheers :)Leave a comment with your e-mail for the password! ;)Há já algum tempo que eu não ouvia um bom álbum de "disco". For example Carina Andersson and Ursula Rucker.Without a doubt, 4Hero bring us the best of London. Soul and Hip-Hop with a touch of Dub and Reggae, in a perfect mix, produced by himself in his studio "The Golden Temple", in Copenhagen.Mark Linn ("Ya Love Is Like Dope") and Little Tasha ("Bullet of I") are the ones Emo shares the microphone with, having various contributions from some instrumentalists such as the american bass player Darryl Johnson ("In The Back Of The Car").A sound to face with positivity and attitude. Great for the end of a complicated season like the end of the exams period in college.
