This compilation covers his Samba 68 work, right up to his early 80s material. He was responsible for popularising bossa in the US, and struck gold with the "Samba 68" LP, from which the anthemic "Crickets Sing For Anamaria" (Jazz Juice 2) was taken. In the 60s bossa nova was isolated by the intellectualism of cariocas like Edu Lobo appealing to the middle class. Valle brought bossa to the masses, with protest songs talking about democracy "Democustico" and poverty in the language of the North.His wife Anamaria features on "Ele E Ela" and "Proton Electron Neutron". "OriginsOriginating in the United States, techno was primarily developed by "The Belleville Three", a cadre of men who were attending college, at the time, near Detroit , Michigan. The budding musicians, former high school friends and mix tape traders Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson,[7] found inspiration in Midnight Funk Association, an eclectic, 5-hour, late-night radio program hosted on various Detroit radio stations including WCHB, WGPR, and WJLB-FM from 1977 through the mid-1980s by DJ Charles "The Electrifying Mojo" Johnson. Sorry I'm really busy with a million things this week and probably most of next week, so I don't have any regular posts like I normally have on thursday/friday. But I did just recently finished a new mix. It's Dubstep, which is what I've been listening to alot lately. For those who don't know, Dubstep is sorta the latest genre craze in the UK and beyond - that sounds cheezy but it's for good reason. It combines the sounds of Dancehall, Reggae, Dub, Industrial, Metal, Breakbeat and elements of Jungle and it's such a relatively new format that it hasn't been completely exploited by the major labels yet. So its a very 'fresh' sound; there are more and more new and young Dubstep producers popping up daily it seems - and each one brings their own special mutation to the table. It's reminiscent to me of the energy of the original Jungle scene back in 1994 when everyone was experimenting with different sounds and tempos and production styles.
