Gig Review - Hadouken!
2007-10-30 17:00:00 Last night I saw Hadouken ! in TJ's, Newport. and this is my review.For starters this was the first time I have been to a gig in agesssss, so it felt good to be back in that environment. Hadouken! are a "cool" band, and as such the majority of the crowd reflected this "coolness", all wearing brightly coloured clothing and waving around glowsticks. The average age must have been about 16, there were alot of kids around, which made me feel very old, but also quite nostalgic remembering that back in the day I was one of these kids, getting overly hyped about the band I was seeing. They were still pretty irritating though....Arriving at the venue about 8, I presumed things would be underway, but they were not. In fact the first band didnt start playing until 8.45pm. It later transpired that this was because of an illness within The Ghost Frequency camp, particuarly annoying as I was looking forward to seeing them. Background: Hundred Reasons have been around for awhile now. Since 1999 to be exact. With new album "Quick The Word Sharp The Action", the band are now on album number 4. Your probably sick of reading about this band by now, it seems almost every blog across world has had something to say about them and the groundbreaking release of their new material. But for what it's worth i'm putting my two pennies in.. . As we all know Radiohead made their new album, "In Rainbows ", available for download for whatever price you were willing to pay for it. Upon the anouncement it caused a media storm and the profile of the band was raised tenfold. I don't mind telling you that I actually paid nothing for the album...My reasoning? Well, to me mp3's and downloads are a vehicle for promoting bands and artists. I decided that if I like and enjoy listening to the album, I will, like with other records, purchase the hard physical copy when it is released. But the question is, is it any good... Band Review : Me Against Them
2007-10-08 16:00:00 When in London a few weeks ago, I decided to buy an album based on no reason other than I liked the name of the band and thought the album cover looked quite cool. It also helped that it only cost £2. To my enjoyment, upon listening to the record I found out that it is actually really good, and has turned out to be a great find!.The record is the self titled debut album from a band called "Me Against Them"..Unfortunatley it appears after doing some research that the band are either no longer together, or are on some sort of hiatus. I've concluded this because 1) There official website doesn't exist anymore. 2) The record label website doesn't exist and 3) their myspace havent been updated for a couple of years. But this takes nothing away from how good I think their debut album is.Me Against Them formed in 2001 and come from London. Moving Units : Hexes For Exes
2007-09-28 17:50:00 The people at Magnum PR have kindly given me an advance copy of the new Moving Unit s album entitled "Hexex For Exes", which is released 9th October on Metropolis Records.Background: Moving Units formed in 2001, and come from Los Angeles. They have released a self-titled E.P in 2002, and followed that up with their debut full length album in 2004 called "Dangerous Dreams". They have toured with many notable bands, such as The Pixies, Blur, and most recently Nine Inch Nails. Review: Moving Units return in 2007 with their second album called "Hexes For Exes". And what an album it is. I previously hadn't heard of the band before, but instantly became a fan while listening to opening track and first single "Pink Thoughts". This first song sets the tone for the album, a strong drum beat, quirky guitars, synths, and dark revealing vocals. It is a sonic mix of Indie undertones crossed with Electronica. For me what really stands out and sets the band apart is the production on this record. ...

If you've attempted to download any tunes from here lately, you will have noticed that annoyingly i've reached my bandwidth level, so the links dont work. In the future i'll be putting two links for each mp3, but for now you'll just have to wait until the level is reset in about 10 days. This blog has so far concentrated mainly on Indie, Electronica, Hip Hop, and Acoustic tracks, but has not really touched upon the genre of Metal. 2007-09-05 20:38:00 Today I want to acknowledge one of my favourite bands of recent years, Billy Talent .Billy Talent (who were formerly known as Pezz) are a Canadian Punk Rock band who have been around since forming in 1993. The members are Benjamin Kowalewicz (Vocals), Ian D'Sa (Guitar/Vocals), Jonathan Gallant (Bass/Vocals), and Aaron Solowoniuk (Drums). Carling Reading and Leeds Festival 2007

Ever since I knew what good music was i've wanted to go, but each year it just never seems to happen. But after viewing some of the outstanding performances this year, i'm even more determined to attend.However for now you'll have to do with my review of the festival through watching highlights courtesy of BBC Radio 1. There were SO many great bands at the festival this year, which meant there were many good sets, however the following bands in my opinion gave really inspired performances, who really took things to the next level, and completely owned the stage.LOSTPROPHETS : Since releasing third album "Liberation Transmission", LP have developed a stage presence and sound that has truly taken them above their piers. More articles from this author:2007-08-20 13:00:00 Today i'm reviewing the latest single i've been sent from the lovely people at Independiente Records (Home to Travis, Embrace, and Gomez amongst others).The track is called "Go To Hell" and comes from British based singer/songwriter, David Ford .Background:David Ford is a Singer/Songwriter from Kent, in the UK. Before becoming a solo artist, he was the frontman for an Indie band called Easyworld, who released two full length albums before splitting up in 2004. Since that point he has extensively toured the UK, ranging from small intimate shows to supporting bands such as Starsailor, and even his own sold out headline tour. That was in support of his critically acclaimed debut album "I Sincerly Apoligize For All The Trouble I've Caused". After touring and releasing that album in the UK, Ford turned his attention to the US. The album received excellent reviews in magazines such as Rolling Stone and Variety, and he supported artists such as Richard Ashcroft and Ray Lamontagne. This b...
