Feast Of Love Soundtrack
2007-10-10 23:19:00
From venerable three time Academy Award winning director Robert Benton (Kramer Vs. Kramer, Places In The Heart) comes a kaleidoscopic ode to life and love in all it's funny, sad, sexy, crazy, heartbreaking and life sustaining facets in this film starring Morgan Freeman and Greg Kinnear: Feast Of Love . Based on the acclaimed novel by Charles Baxter, Feast Of Love is a Lakeshore Entertainment Production in association with Greene Street Films and Revelations Entertainment. The music from Feast Of Love was released September 4th via Lakeshore Records, whose previous released include critically acclaimed taste-maker soundtracks Wicker Park, The Last Kiss and the Grammy Nominated Little Miss Sunshine. Enhancing the film's look at love which is simultaneously hilarious and bitteersweet, problematic and life altering is it's soundtrack, which features a masterful selection of music by today's top artists. Corinne Bailey Rae gets soulful with The New Masterminds on "Your Love Is Mine"...

Chelsea Hotel
2007-10-08 23:47:00
The Chelsea Hotel has long been known as a "flop house" for authors, actors and singers. Some of the most prestigious people ever have stayed there, from Dylan Thomas to Bob Dylan to The Andy Warhol Superstars. It even served as a refuge for some of the Titanic survivors for a while. The hotel is often referenced in pop culture, such as films, book and of course, music. Some of the most famous songs by Bob Dylan were written during his time at the Chelsea (Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands to name just one), and the list goes on and on. Here are just a few songs that reference the Chelsea Hotel in some form.Leonard Cohen- Chelsea Hotel No. 2Elvis Costello- (I Don't Want To Go To) ChelseaCounting Crows- ChelseaLeonard Cohen.com ***** Elvis Costello.com ***** Counting Crows.comLeonard Cohen CD's ***** Elvis Costello CD's ***** Counting Crows CD's

Eddie Cochran
2007-10-03 23:51:00
Today would have been Eddie Cochran's 69th birthday. Although he died at the tender age of 21, he left a lasting impact on rock music for generations to come. His most famous song, "Summertime Blues", has been covered by many artists, and continues to be a popular song to this day. Here are a few session outtakes as well as the song "Summertime Blues" live on the 'Boy Meets Girls' TV Show from 1960.Milk Cow BluesMy Love To RememberJelly BeanLittle AngelDon't Bye Bye Baby MeSummertime BluesEDIT- Was searching through YouTube and found this interesting 7 minute documentary on Eddie, pretty informative video.Eddie Cochran .com ***** Eddie Cochran CD's ***** Eddie Cochran on Myspace
This and that
2007-10-03 00:02:00
Last night I was at the Ryan Adam's show in Iowa City, and it was a blast. Night and day difference between last night and the show in Minneapolis. I enjoyed both, in different ways, but last night Ryan was in top form. He was engaging, he was crazy, and he was passionate about the music. He informed the crowd he is in the middle of quitting smoking, which might explain why he was so hyper, and I am glad he has taken that step. One thing that is frustrating about going to a Ryan Adam's concert are the idiot fans that insist on ignoring any semblance of common sense. It really isn't that hard to go to a concert, sit and enjoy it for a couple hours and not shout out things constantly. Then again, common sense is a dying thing these days, but it's just frustrating trying to enjoy a concert when the person in back of you insists on yelling out "Whiskeytown!!!" and "Stars Go Blue!!" and singing along with the harmonies in quiet parts of the song (Peaceful Valley). But, thankfully thi...

Ryan Adams- State Theater 9/27/07
2007-09-29 02:13:00
Wow, I didn't realize when I bought a ticket to last nights show I'd be at one of the most controversial Ryan Adam's shows of the year. Anyone interested in reading all the criticism of last nights show, click here. I feel the need to give an alternate point of view of the show as well, as I enjoyed it thoroughly. Now, I must preface this by saying this was my first Ryan show, and I have been a fan for a few years and have seen many a fan post on various message boards about the disappointing performances of Ryan. I went in to the show really having no expectations because of that reason, so maybe I was ready to be pleased with any type of show he put on. But, I really enjoyed what I did see. A little short? Maybe, but nothing so extreme that I'm whining about the money I spent. I knew going in that I could get an hour long show, or I could get a 3 hour show, either way I was prepared. I was especially amused by the fans booing after the show when they realized there was to be ...

Hallelujah
2007-09-27 11:51:00
Arguably, Leonard Cohen's most well known song is "Halle lujah ". It is one of the most covered songs, as well as one of the most used songs in television and movies. Although Cohen's version may be the original, for my money the most powerful version is Jeff Buckley's. Rufus Wainwright also does a very good rendition of it, and his version was slated to be used in the movie Shrek, but ultimately John Cale's version was used in the film, although Wainwright's was used on the official soundtrack.Leonard Cohen- HallelujahJeff Buckley- HallelujahRufus Wainwright- HallelujahLeonard Cohen.com ***** Jeff Buckley.com ***** Rufus Wainwright.com+++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++Leonard Cohen CD's ***** Jeff Buckley CD's ***** Rufus Wainwright CD's
Feist- 1 2 3 4
2007-09-25 12:30:00
I've been seeing that new iPod commercial every time I turn on the TV, and the song is so catchy, yet I was unable to find out who sang it....until recently. Turns out it's a singer named Feist , and it's a song called "1 2 3 4". I've only listened a short while to her, but so far she seems like a very talented singer, and I am looking forward to learning more about her in the future.iPod CommercialFeist- "1 2 3 4"Feist- "1 2 3 4" MP3 linkFeist.com *********************** Feist CD's
Beck- Nick Drake Covers
2007-09-23 09:41:00
I've been a Nick Drake fan for quite a while now, and over the years I've heard some really pitiful attempts to cover his songs. In all reality, I should know better than to expect anything close to Drake because he had such a unique approach and style to his music, but I've always kept an ear open for any covers that could do him justice. Well, Beck covered a few songs from Drake's last album Pink Moon that gave me chills up and down my spine the first time I heard them. Beck doesn't try to copy Drake's versions, but instead gives them a feel all his own while still keeping the mood of the songs. They are after all, somber songs, but yet somehow beautiful at the same time. Beck's tribute confirms the feelings that Drake's legacy will never be forgotten, no matter how short his career was.ParasitePink MoonWhich WillNick Drake .com ***************** Nick Drake CD'sBeck.com *********************** Beck CD's+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++

Joanna Newsom & the Ys Street Band EP
2007-09-14 09:55:00
Yes, the Springsteen-nodding title of Joan na Newsom & the Ys Street Band is witty, but it's fitting, too: Newsom's Ys touring band backs her on this EP, and these three songs have a much more live feel than Van Dyke Parks, Jim O'Rourke, and crew gave that magnificent album in the studio. With a song from Ys, a song from The Milk-Eyed Mender, and a previously unreleased track, Joanna Newsom & the Ys Street Band plays like the past, present, and future of Newsom's music, all given an earthier, less precious feel that still displays how artful her music is. The EP kicks off with "Colleen," a prickly, feral-sounding new song that, with this arrangement anyway, feels brighter and more immediate than Ys' songs, albeit nearly as densely packed with words, melodies, and ideas. "Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie" channels the sunny, avant-Appalachian feel of The Milk-Eyed Mender effortlessly; and in the EP's context, its relatively simple sweetness acts as a palate cleanser between the he...

Nick Drake- Interplay One
2007-09-11 11:05:00
Interplay One is perhaps the rarest of all Nick Drake recordings. This is due to its limited circulation as an educational kit for schools, it not being a purely pop or music album, and the fact that it was basically unknown to Nick Drake fans prior to the publication of Humphries' biography in 1997. The two songs Full Fathom Five and With My Swag all on My Shoulder are important additions to the relative small collection of just 31 songs Drake is known to have recorded and issued during his lifetime. Though not Nick Drake songs as such, they feature his playing and are of sufficient quality to interest his many fans.-Full Fathom Five-With Swag All On My Shoulder-I Wish I Was A Single Girl AgainNick Drake.com++++Nick Drake CD's+++More Interplay One info

Just a quick note, the file host I used to host MP3's has shut down, so those links will no longer work. If you want something in specific, just ask and I will re post them. MP3 links in new posts will work after this. This does not apply to the Woodstock links, those are still working. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Strangers In Wonderland
2007-09-10 19:44:00
Strangers In Wonderland sounds like nothing I've ever heard before. A haunting lead singer and great, to the point lyrics. If you are a fan of bands like Sixpence None The Richer, or singer Leona Naess, this would be a band I'd recommend. Here are a couple songs that were sent to me to sample, and I really enjoyed them and I hope you do too.-Addicted-Behind The MaskStrangers In Wonderland.com ++++++++++++ Strangers In Wonderland on Myspace

Luciano Pavarotti
2007-09-06 10:02:00
ROME (AFP) - Operatic legend Luci ano Pavarotti , whose showmanship and crossover celebrity turned him into a global superstar, died Thursday at his home in northern Italy at the age of 71. Hailed by many as the greatest tenor of his generation, Pavarotti passed away during the night at his villa near the city of Modena after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. The mayor of Modena, Giorgio Pighi, said Pavarotti, who underwent surgery for cancer in July, 2006, had died shortly before 5:00am (0300 GMT). Police established a security cordon in front of the villa to keep in line those who had already gathered to pay their respects. Pavarotti -- known in his prime for the clarity of his voice and ability to hit high Cs with ease -- broke into the opera world when he won a competition in 1961. He went on to perform across Europe before crossing the Atlantic in February 1965 for a production of Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor" in Miami, co-starring famed Australian soprano Joan...
