Tanner Walle, a singer/songwriter from Lawrence, KS, has released his latest album, The Future of Tape through Mixtape Meditation and PVS.My Review:The feeling of wanting to hear more music, the need for the beat, and the jazzy fingerpicking of guitars was generously supplied by Tanner Walle's second track, "Hearing Things Again". I assume The Future of Tape has a lot of surprising tracks in it. The Sick Puppies ' second album, "Dressed Up As Life " came out via Virgin Records. Reviewer: James Chase (Boston, USA)I was impressed by the EP that has been out by them for awhile and interested to see what they would do with a full length release. This is good stuff. There is a slight difference between "All the Same" on the EP and the full length, but other than that it seems like the recordings are the same. There's really nothing bad I can say about this disc, it's good all the way through. It's not ever going to be a "classic" and it isn't revolutionary but it's the best all around release I've heard so far this year. I always preview my discs before buying but if you were going to take a risk on a new band, I think this will appeal to a lot of rock fans. Calla was formed in New York City in 1997 by Aurelio Valle (guitar, vocals), Sean Donovan (bass, keyboards, programming), and Wayne B. Magruder (percussion, programming), adding Peter Gannon in 2003 and Sean Donovan departing in 2004. However, the band's origins can be traced to Texas in 1993, where Valle, Magruder and Gannon began performing together in the Denton band, The Factory Press. The Factory Press relocated to New York in 1995, recording The Smoky Ends of a Burnt out Day with producers Kid Congo Powers and Matt Verta-Ray. The group split in 1997 and the album was not released until early 1998, by which time Valle and Magruder were pursuing new musical ventures.
