Metallica: Kill 'Em All 1983
2007-09-19 20:42:00
Kill 'Em All is American thrash metal band Metallic a 's debut album, released on July 25, 1983 on Megaforce Records.Released in 1983, the record's release set the band on the path to world domination, as drummer Lars Ulrich would put it in the following year.According to some music critics the album is acclaimed for combining high-tempo (discounting the Cliff Burton bass solo (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth) and a tribute to the band's early influences: Diamond Head, Iron Maiden, Motörhead and Venom, all English bands who combined the heaviness and technicality of Black Sabbath with the speed and aggression of punk rock.DownloadBlogalaxia Tags: MetallicaKill+Em+AllThrash+MetalSpeed+Met al

Black Sabbath: Black Sabbath, Vol. 4 1972
2007-09-18 04:35:00
Black Sabbath Vol 4 is the fourth studio album by British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released in 1972.The album was originally to be titled Snowblind, the name of a track on the album which was a reference to cocaine use. The record company felt this to be controversial, for the American market in particular, so the title was altered. The song Snowblind had to be re-recorded because in the original Ozzy yelled the word cocaine after each verse. He can still be heard whispering cocaine in the final version, and he often shouted, Cocaine! during live performances of the song, as he does in their Reunion live album and the bootleg album Live at Last. In the liner notes of the album Black Sabbath thanks to the great COKE-Cola Company, a slightly-hidden drug reference. Also, the picture of Tony Iommi in the original gatefold sleeve showed his Gibson SG sporting a sticker that said Enjoy CoCaine, a takeoff on the Enjoy CocaCola advertising of this period. The track Changes was one of ...

Black Sabbath: Sabotage 1975
2007-09-15 16:23:00
Sabotage is a 1975 album by heavy metal band Black Sabbath .Sabotage, originally released on Warner Bros. Records in the US and NEMS in the UK, was Black Sabbath 's sixth studio outing. Singer Ozzy Osbourne has often complained in interviews over the years that this album marked the beginning of what he described as guitarist Tony Iommi's studio production obsession. It took vastly longer than the previous albums each took to record or produce, making for the most costly Sabbath album to that point (the first album only took a few hundred pounds and a couple of days). Like the previous album, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, fan response was mixed. In regard to sound, the album continues a trend that began with the previous album. With Sabotage, Iommi brought in more use of keyboards and orchestral-sounding songwriting and oddities (for Sabbath) like choral arrangements (Supertzar). The song Symptom of the Universe is often considered by some to be the first ever thrash metal riff. Sabbath fan...

Black Sabbath: Heaven And Hell 1980
2007-09-15 05:54:00
Heaven and Hell is an album by Black Sabbath, released in May 1980. This was the first album after singer Ozzy Osbourne left the band and was the first album featuring Ronnie James Dio , formerly of Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, who brought his own unique style of song writing and vocalisation to the band. With the changing of singers, a change in songwriting approaches, and the sound crafting skills of famous heavy metal producer Martin Birch, the band altered their trademark drudge rock to a faster, slicker and more melodic sound. The addition of Dio to the Sabbath lineup was not the only change made at this point however. Geoff Nicholls of Quartz was scheduled to join the band, because Geezer Butler had been threatening to quit the band and had not been around through most of the writing sessions. Initially, Geoff Nicholls was brought in to play bass and co-write, but when Geezer decided to stay with the group, Nicholls switched to keyboards. Nicholls would only briefly attain ful...

Def Leppard: Vault: Def Leppard Greatest Hits (1980-1995) 1995
2007-09-14 01:59:00
Vault: Def Leppard Greatest Hits (1980-1995) is the first compilation album for the British hard rock band Def Leppard, released in 1995. It includes 15 of their most successful singles around the world, commemorated on the 15th anniversary of the release of their debut. One new track was recorded for this collection, When Love And Hate Collide, previously a leftover from the Adrenalize recording sessions. The ballad became the band's most successful single ever in the UK, hitting #2 in the fall of 1995.The selection criteria for Vault was simple: The song had to have been a hit single. Even though most song choices were obvious (Pour Some Sugar On Me, Photograph), fans were surprised, in some cases disappointed, by the exclusion of popular album tracks (This would be rectified on later compilations).Vault was a major success all around the world even in the United States, where the band was at the nadir of their popularity as a result of the explosion of grunge in the '90s and t...

Just Push Play is the thirteenth studio album by American hard rock band Aerosmith , released in 2001. Helping Aerosmith in the studio were coproducers and song collaborators Marti Frederiksen and Mark Hudson.Just Push Play features the same slick pop production that Aerosmith had been using in recent albums, though this time there was more of a vintage-era edge to most of the tracks. The album's first single, Jaded, became a major Top 10 hit in the U.S. and around the world. As a result, Just Push Play was certified platinum within a month of its release. Subsequent singles Fly Away From Here, Sunshine, and "Just Push Play", though garnering some airplay, failed to impact the Hot 100 much, although the latter two charted on the U.S. Mainstream Rock chart and the former charted on the Adult Top 40.The eight-month long Just Push Play Tour, which ran from June 2001 to January 2002 was launched to support the album. The album's cover features a gynoid resembling Marilyn Monroe and was d...

The Verve (originally Verve) are an English alternative rock band formed in 1989 at Winstanley Sixth Form College, Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, Greater Manchester, England, by vocalist Richard Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bassist Simon Jones, and drummer Peter Salisbury. The band has announced an album due at the end of the northern-hemisphere summer and a tour scheduled for November 2007.Beginning with a psychedelic sound indebted to space rock and shoegazer music, by the mid-1990s the band had released several EPs and two acclaimed records. They also endured name and lineup changes, breakups, health problems, drug abuse and various lawsuits. The band's commercial breakthrough was the album Urban Hymns and its single Bitter Sweet Symphony, which became a massive worldwide hit. Soon after this commercial peak, the band broke up ci...

Mayhem: De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas 1994
2007-09-09 20:45:00
De Myst eriis Dom Sathanas is the first full-length studio album by Norwegian black metal band Mayhem . De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is stated as meaning Lord Satan's Secret Rites (literally, Of the Mysteries of Lord Satan). It is marked out in the band's history by being not only the last studio recording of Mayhem featuring material co-written by Per Yngve 'Dead' Ohlin, but also the only full-length studio album to feature band leader, Øystein 'Euronymous' Aarseth. After Varg Vikernes (the session bass player on this recording) was convicted for the murder of Euronymous, Euronymous' parents demanded that the album not feature the bass parts by Vikernes. Hellhammer promised to remove the bass tracks from the recording. However, he did not record new bass parts, rather, he simply lowered Vikernes' contributions in the final mix. According to Hellhammer, he decided that it was somehow fitting that murderer and victim should be together on this album.Vocals on this album were perfor...

Hatebreeder is the second album from the Finnish metal band Children of Bodom. In it, the band explores a far more classically influenced sound with a black metal vibe and atmosphere, through the usage of tremelo-picked guitar lines, black beats, and Alexi Laiho's vocals. It also has the feel of 80's power metal, predominantly seen in the fast guitar riffs and high notes. The 1999 release contains concert favorites such as "Silent Night, Bodom Night" and "Downfall". The keyboards show more presence on this album, with longer and more elaborate solos than in their previous work. This was the first album with guitars tuned to (D,G,C,F,A,D) after Something Wild.DownloadBlogalaxia Tags: Children+Of+BodomHatebreederMelodic+Death +MetalExtreme+Power+MetalBlack+Metal

Judas Priest: Stained Class 1978
2007-09-08 06:28:00
Stained Class is the fourth album by the British heavy metal group Judas Priest , released in 1978.Considered by most fans to be one of the high points of Judas Priest's catalogue, Stained Class showcased a more streamlined songwriting style while not compromising on the band's trademark heavy metal riffs. It also introduced their classic logo, replacing the Gothic Script logo of earlier releases. This was considered by many to be the last of the four classic Judas Priest albums. An unfortunate legacy of Stained Class is the 1990 civil action brought against the band by the family of a teenager who tried to kill himself after listening to Better By You, Better Than Me (along with a companion, who succeeded in his suicide attempt). The suit alleged that the band recorded messages on the song that, when played backwards, said "do it, do it.? The suit was eventually dismissed. Ironically, Better... is not even a Judas Priest original, but a cover of a 1969 track by Spooky Tooth (writte...

Luciano Pavarotti
2007-09-07 06:36:00
Luciano Pavarotti (October 12, 1935 ? September 6, 2007) was an Italian tenor and one of the most popular contemporary vocal performers in the world of opera and across multiple musical genres. Known for his televised concerts, and as one of the Three Tenors, Pavarotti was also noted for his award-winning charity work for raising money on behalf of refugees and the Red Cross.Luciano Pavarotti was born on the outskirts of Modena in north-central Italy, the son of Fernando Pavarotti, a baker and singer, and Adele Venturi, a cigar factory worker.[1] Although he spoke fondly of his childhood, the family had little money; its four members were crowded into a two-room apartment. According to Pavarotti, his father had a fine tenor voice but rejected the possibility of a singing career because of nervousness. World War II forced the family out of the city in 1943. For the following year they rented a single room from a farmer in the neighboring countryside, where young Pavarotti developed a...
