Top Ten Unknown Songs From My Favorite Artists
2007-02-14 18:27:02 Oh man have I been busy this week. I wasn't able to a featured artist last week but look out for one this week. I definitely will be posting more this week. For this playlist I thought that I would treat you with some of my favorite music from bands that I really enjoy. Chances are that you might not of heard these before. These will be from familiar bands but nothing that was ever played on the radio. I tried to put my them in descending order according to how much I like each artist, my favorite being on top and tenth favorite as number ten. This doesn't necessarily mean that the particular songs are in that order though. I had a really tough time narrowing it down to ten artists but I think that this will really give you a sense of my musical taste. This is probably my favorite playlist to date and it contains some of my all time favorite songs. Anyways, here it is and hope you enjoy it.Top 10 Song s You Should Know - Week 13 - Feb. 12-18 20071. Windows Down, Volume Up Playlist
2007-02-07 00:19:02 It is the first monday in Febuary and a great time to imagine what the summer months will bring. With negative temperatures all over the US, you can't help but think of the warm weather to come. This playlist will feature some of the music that I love to blast in my car's speakers. I enjoy listening to a little rap when in the car but I will keep this playlist with the normal theme of alternative rock. This week I think I am going to go back to the normal format of the playlist but provide a link to the imeem playlist. I think this will accomadate everyone's needs. RSS readers can see the playlist and follow the links, and if they choose, follow the link to listen to the playlist in full. Artist of the Week: Vertical Horizon
2007-02-06 00:18:02 It is time for a new article type for Rizzo Music, Artist of the Week . I was thinking about a song of the week but since we have a playlist of ten great songs every week as well as tributes to music videos, I don't think that a song of the week is necessary. Instead we will have an Artist of the Week where every Saturday, I will write an article displaying the great music of one artist. In these articles I will try to direct you to some cool media involved with each band including music videos and acoustic versions of songs. This week I thought I would start with Vert ical Horizon, one of my favorite bands. I have been listening to these guys a lot lately, mainly their two major label releases. I recently discovered the full album of "Everything You Want", not just the four singles that they released from the album. Almost everyone has heard their ever popular "Everything You Want" single that was constantly played on the radio at the close of the millennium. This is just the tip of ... More About: Izon
The Verve Pipe - The Freshman Music Video Tribute
2007-02-03 00:16:01 This tribute is long overdue. "The Fresh man" by The Verve Pipe is one of those songs that you either love or you hate. The song propelled The Verve Pipe into stardom and helped their album, "Villains", go platinum. This was indeed their biggest hit and for good reason. I am a fan of a lot of their songs but this one is their best and has so much history for me personally. This is one of the first songs where I could sing every line word for word. It also came out at a time when I first started to follow mainstream music and began to listen to the radio quite frequently. I can still remember watching the video in my living room and hearing it countless times on the radio. Although this song is about ten years old, I never get tired of hearing it. The song as well as the video is filled with such a powerful presence and emotion. I always found the lyrics confusing and didn't find out what he wouldn't "be held responsible" for but according to Wikipedia and other sources, the lead si... More About: Video , Music , Music Video
Rizzo Music's Top Ten Songs of 2006 Playlist
2007-01-30 12:13:02 It's another Monday and with a newly revamped site, it's time to update the format of our playlists. From now on I will try to make Imeem playlists so that everyone can have easy access to listening to these great songs. Of course, not every song is on imeem so I have decided to make honorable mentions for those left of the list due to unavailablity. Once again, you can add me as a friend on Imeem here if you haven't already. My profile is still a work in progress but it should be done fairly soon. This week's playlist features some of my favorite songs released in 2006. Of course I can't fit all of them on to a 10 song playlist but this selection is more to draw your attention to 10 great albums more than the individual songs released in 2006.Top 10 Song s You Should Know - Week 11 - Jan. 29-Feb. 4 2007Honorable mentions include:"The Guy that Says Goodbye to You is Out of His Mind" - Griffin House"With A Bullet" - Sam Roberts"Running Away" - Lifehouse"The End of the World" - Gi... Switchfoot - Oh! Gravity Album Review
2007-01-29 00:12:01 Switchfoot is a post-grunge band from California that made it big in 2003 with "Meant to Live" and "Dare you to Move" off their album "The Beautiful Letdown". That album is one of favorite albums of the last few years. There is not one song on that album that I would ever think of skipping over. They then went on to release "Nothing is Sound" with a fairly big hit "Stars". I was not as impressed with this effort as their previous album but there were plenty of songs to note, such as "Lonely Nation" and "The Shadow Proves the Sunshine".Then came "Oh! Gravity.", released on December 26th 2006 with 12 new tracks (3 bonus tracks at the end) and a running time of 51:57. This is their third album in four years and they continue touring rigorously. They are really dedicated to their fans and it shows. The album kicks off with their new single "Oh! Gravity", a song full of energy with politically charged lyrics. This is nothing new for them, as a lot of their previous songs have spoken out ... More About: Review , Switch , View , Album , Foot
How to Hack/Edit New/Beta Blogger for 3 Columns and Add a Banner
2007-01-27 12:10:01 Hey everyone! I finally got around to learning how to manipulate the blogger html. I really like how it turned out. I first changed the template, did some serious manipulation that took about 2 hours to post my banner and make the site three columns (without the help of this tutorial, it shouldn't take you that long). If you would like to know how I accomplished this I would be glad to tell you. I would really like some feedback on the new layout though so be sure to write a comment, it will really help me out.If you follow these instructions, you can make your blogger website very similar to mine. First I had to make the banner which is still a work in progress but I like how it turned out. I used a program called GIMP 2.0. This free utility is a lot like Adobe's Photoshop but with less features and overall just harder to work with. It is kind of a hard download so if you have any trouble installing it, just email me. I have been using it for about 2 years though now so I have so... More About: Blogger , How To , Beta , Blog , Hack
Interesting Music Websites Reviewed - Part One
2007-01-26 00:08:02 I have decided that I need to start blogging more, I think I finally got the bug. I have gotten my traffic up over the last couple months and feel like some people are finally starting to read my blog so I think it would be best if I tried to post about five times a week instead of two. Hopefully even more people will start to read this if I make it interesting and informative. I will still continue with the somewhat popular Monday playlist, just try to add new sections like the one I am currently writing. The first website I would like to bring to your attention is called iLike. It is currently in beta, and a relatively new website. I was surfing the Inter net one day and came across it. I registered, downloaded and I am up and running. This website is a little similar to last.fm and pandora.com but is more centered towards the ever popular Itunes program. At iLike you can create a music profile, download an add-on to Itunes that will upload your playcount for your songs. This progr... More About: Music , Interesting , Website , Review
90's Music Playlist
2007-01-25 00:07:01 It's is another monday in January and its time for another group of songs formed together in an ordered list. This week we have a theme to the playlist which is 90's Music . All of these songs were released prior to the year 2000 and after 1989 to the best of my knowledge. I figured that if I began to theme these playlists, perhaps more would listen to them collectively and not just pick and choose. These are not necessarily my top ten songs from the 1990s but are from some great 90s bands and I have chosen one song from each year. They are ordered in a way that the first song starts out at 1990 and the last is 1999. These songs were more popular then most of the songs I put up here but I tried to pick a song that defined the year for me. 1998 was definitely the hardest year from me to pick as there were some many good songs released that year. Hope you enjoyed another rendition of "Top 10 Songs You Should Know" and thanks for listening.Top 10 Songs You Should Know - Week 10 - Jan.... More About: Play , Playlist , List , Advil

It is filled with some classics and ones that you probably have never heard. It's a great way to start off the new year. Live - Overcome Music Video Tribute
2006-12-23 05:43:01 Not only is this a great song but it has a powerful video to go along with it. The great piano playing combined with Ed Kowalczyk's powerful voice creates an impression that will last a lifetime. The song was written before 9/11 but soon after was dedicated to this tragic date. I believe this song has an epic quality and that is why I present to you, Live by Over come the music video without further adieu. More About: Video , Music , Music Video
Our Lady Peace - A Decade Album Review
2006-12-23 05:43:01 Our Lady Peace is a gem that I discovered around ten years ago. These guys have consistently produced hit after hit since they formed and the album, "A Decade", is a great tribute to the work that they have done. If you only have one of their albums or flat out never decided to go out and buy an OLP CD then I highly suggest purchasing this one. It includes one of my all time favorite songs from any band, "Thief". This song can be summed up in one word, fantastic. "Thief" is a slow moving, powerful song that is one for the ages. This album contains 12 songs that I have heard in the past and have thoroughly enjoyed. The album has a run time of 1:17:22 with a total of 18 songs including a previously unreleased track and a demo from their "Healthy in Paranoid Times" album. The album kicks off with one of their biggest hits, "Starseed", from their first album "Naveed". This song is one of those hit singles that you might have forgotten about because I know that I did. You probably heard... More About: Review , View , Album
Christmas Playlist!
2006-12-23 05:43:01 It's monday again and its almost Christ mas . Christmas is my favorite holiday like a lot of other people so I decided to make a Christmas Play list this week with 10 of my favorite Christmas songs. These are all classics and most of them you should of heard of in the past. It turns out that I didn't have to repeat artists this week after all. Next week I am afraid that I must but it will be sure to be a great playlist, I am looking forward to it. I will try to get it out on Christmas Day as it is a Monday but we'll see if I can find time. Hope you enjoyed this edition of "Top 10 Songs You Should Know" and be sure to come back next week.Top 10 Songs You Should Know - Week 6 - Dec. 18-24 20061. Monday Playlist #4
2006-12-15 17:41:01 It is once again time for my playlist for the week. This time I tried to stick to introducing artists I have not mentioned before, but I don't know how long this will last. I tried to mix this playlist up a little with some really famous artists, some not so famous artists, and lead it off with one of my favorite songs even though it was fairly popular when it was released. "Fast Car" kind of goes against what this playlist is all about, since it was her most famous song but since it came out eighteen years ago, you might not of heard it yet. These are some of my favorite songs of all-time so please at least check some of them out. It is so hard to choose a favorite from this list but if you are only going to listen to one of them, I would have to go with "Compliment" by Collective Soul. This song is just too good to pass up.Top 10 Songs You Should Know - Week 4 - Dec. 4-10 20061. Fast Car - Tracy Chapman2. Compliment - Collective Soul3. Lucky Man - The Verve4. My Big Mouth - Oasi... Cutting the Ribbon
2006-12-15 17:41:01 Now that I have that pointless introduction done that no one is going to read, I figured I would start up the first reoccuring article for this tremendously popular blog. This is the first edition to the Top 10 Songs You Should Know from some faily familiar artists but not so familiar songs. Hopefully pretty soon I'll be able to figure out how to link to itunes or something so you can at least hear a sample of each of these songs because they are pretty good. This type of playlist I hope to release every monday till eternity but it will probably not be the only one I will ever post. Most of the stuff that I post will be pretty random and will not have any sort of regularity so just check back often or subscribe to the blog at the bottom of the page.Just for a little background, these artists featured on this playlist are all extraordinary artists and I regularly listen to at least 5 of their songs on a regular basis with the exception of Griffin House, which I recently saw in conce... Better Than Ezra - Before the Robots
2006-12-15 17:41:01 Today is the day that I celebrate one of my favorite albums of all time. Before the Robot s is Bett er Than Ezra's latest studio album, released in May of 2005. It was one of those albums you come across looking for new music and see that one of those fairly popular 90s post-grunge bands is under the new release column. I have always been a big fan of "Good" and "Desperately Wanting" as they were pretty solid rock radio staples in the late 90s. I wasn't expecting much from the album though I decided to give it a listen. I was actually more excited about the new Oasis album set for the same release date but that turned out to be a huge disappointment as "Don't Believe the Truth" did not impress me at all. Before the Robots is a great album filled with epic and catch songs that is capped off with one of my all time favorite songs, "Breathless". This song is slow moving and very powerful. It is the last song off the CD and it is a great finisher. This is really one of those albums that... More About: Bots
You Know The Drill - Playlist #5
2006-12-15 17:41:01 It's monday again and I have prepared a new playlist. This one is definately up to par with the others. There are a lot of good songs that you probably have never heard. This will be the last of the playlists where I stick to strickly previously unmentioned artist. There are just too many good songs to pass up any longer. I will stick to keeping it to ten different artists per playlist though. My favorite song on this playlist would have to be "Rocket Ship" by Guster so be sure to check out. The Beginning of an Era
2006-12-15 17:41:01 Since I am an incredible loser with nothing else to do with my time but post random stuff on some stupid website, I figured I would do it here. Instead of boring anyone who decides to read this blog with boring details of my pathetic life, I decided that I would try my hand at telling the world a little about the music that I enjoy. Basically the only reason I picked blogger over any other form of blogging is the fact that i can publish playlists/tracks straight from rhapsody which I am currently a subscriber and thought that it would be pretty easy to do. Basically this will be just a place to tell some people about songs that I have come across that I enjoy listening to, throw in a couple new album reviews once and while and just inform the world on some good music. I'll try to throw in some comedy every once and a while to keep it interesting but most of all I hope that people will be like, "Wow, that idoit that writes the blog about 90s music really found some good songs". I h...
A Tribute to "Bringing Down the Horse"
2006-12-15 17:41:01 Today I thought that I would pay homage to one of the great albums of the 1990s, "Bringing Down the Horse" by The Wallflowers. This is one of those great albums filled with very memorable songs. This CD is most known for the #1 hit, "One Headlight" but that song, though great, is just the tip of the iceberg when you look into great detail the beauty of this masterpiece. There were two other radio hits off this album with "6th Avenue Heartache", and "Three Marlenas" both of which got significant radio air play when they were released but are seldom ever heard on the radio today. With the exception of "I Wish I Felt Nothing", the last song on this CD, the album can be defined in one word, perfect. The album kicks off with "One Headlight", which is still one of my favorite songs ten years after its release. This song has such a powerful rhythm to start off the song and never falters anywhere after. The lyrics tell a great story and the chorus is brilliant. I am not going to go through... Big City Rock or Small Town Pop?
2006-12-15 17:41:01 One of the bands that I had the pleasure of seeing live in concert this year is a relatively unknown band, Big City Rock . They were opening up for Everclear and I wasn't really expecting much from them, as with most opening acts, I really don't really get my hopes up. They played 7 songs off their new debut CD, all of which I enjoyed. The lyrics seemed a little over the top but they spoke some truth and were pretty catchy. When I got back from the concert, I looked up a little background on them and it turns out that they only have one album out which is self-titled. With about an average of 3 minutes a song, the album only amounts to about 35 minutes but it surely doesn't disappoint. My three favorites from the album include, "I Believe in You", "Kind", and "Shelter". One of the songs on the album, "Human", shows how simple yet powerful their lyrics. "I am just a man / Man in a city / City in a State / State in a country / Country in a world / Part of a System / Driving through... More About: Pop , Small , Town
It's that Time Again - Playlist #2
2006-12-15 17:41:01 It's monday again and that means that it is time for the second publication of the Top 10 Songs You Should Know. Once again this is a list of ten songs that you may not of heard of because most of them aren't singles but come from fairly popular artists. This playlist features some of my favorite artists, all of which I listen to on a regular basis. These artists are pretty mainstream but I tried to highlight some songs that are phenomenal but got little press. Simon by Lifehouse is a masterpiece and I highly recomend you give it a listen. Misfits features the subtle sounds of crickets in the beginning so be sure to check that out. A song that I just recently found is number one on the list, and it isn't reinventing the wheel but it brings some great lyrics to life.Top 10 Songs You Should Know - Week 2 - Nov. 20-26 20061. Eagle Eye Cherry - Save Tonight Music Video Tribute
2006-12-15 17:41:01 This quite possibly could be my favorite music video of all time. Not only is the song very good but the music video is just flat out classic. Any music video in which the lead singer plays multiple roles is a good one but Mr. Cher ry takes it to a whole other level. Not only does he play multiple roles but plays every role and continues to sing the entire video without breaking stride. He is the cashier, he is the robber, he is the driver, he is the man living out on the streets, he even plays the guitar! Just when you think, that it can't be him, its him. Really you just need to watch it to get the full effect. More About: Video , Music , Music Video , Night
Mat Kearney - Nothing Left to Lose Review
2006-12-15 17:41:01 Mat is an up and coming artist from Oregon who released his first major label album in early 2006. Nothing Left to Lose, which is also the name of his first single has done fairly well. He did a summer tour with John Mayer and Sheryl Crow and is currently doing a few shows with fairly big acts like the Goo Goo Dolls, Lifehouse, O.A.R., Sister Hazel, Smashmouth, Gin Blossoms, and Five for Fighing before he meets up with John Mayer again this winter. His future looks very bright as his fan base is continually growing and his rap style lyrics mesh well with his smooth melodies. I got a chance to see him live in concert about a month ago and it did not disappoint. He played all the songs from his new album plus a Johnny Cash song with Griffin House at the end. He sounded exactly the same as he does on the recordings and played both the guitar and piano. In a small venue and Griffin House opening up for him, it was a good time.I discovered this artist when I was experiencing insomnia lat... More About: Review , Earn , View

More articles from this author:2006-12-15 17:41:01 I may have been lazy this week with Thanksgiving and other events but I am trying to hold the monday theme for this playlist so here it is again. For those that don't know, this is a list of ten songs that you may not of heard of because most of them aren't singles but come from fairly popular artists. This playlist features some pretty solid songs, my favorite from this list is probably Jet Pack but its a tough choice. I tried to stick with the theme and feature 10 artists that haven't been mentioned in previous playlists. This list features quite a few so called one hit wonders with Lit, Marcy Play ground, Stroke 9 and Splender but if you get a chance to check out their songs, they are pretty good. There is a reason that these artists had hits and that is because they make good music. This playlist is pretty well rounded so enjoy.Top 10 Songs You Should Know - Week 3 - Nov. 27-Dec. 3 20061.
