The plot is so funny: This guy, Joe Adams wins the jackpot in Vegas, a boat called The Fortuna which is located in the docks of LA. He uses this boat for his gambling operations. OI MEUS CAROS SURFERS DA BOSSANOVA!Hello internet! Its saturday and i started a new course at Lund University yesterday. Exhausting. The class contained 8 beautiful women and 3 guys. (and me ;) So this seems good for old Natanael. I just want to tip you guys of a superb blog. I have linked to it for a long time. A few days ago i mailed the guy of Microgrooves to do the same for me. This guy Luiz is a supernice fellow from Rio de Janeiro which specialice in obscure samba/cancão/early bossa which i didnt even knew existed. VARIOUS ARTISTS THE EXCITING BOSSA NOVA RHYTHMS FILM BOSSA LABEL RARE GROOVEThis is a post ive been wanting to lay out for ages but ive been stopped by my own stupid pride to keep this blog all Laurindo. But im not doing something completely wrong cause it contains 2 tracks of the king. This album is ultra-rare and only contains moviesoundtrack bossanovas. Its filled with classic smooth jazz from all kind of composers. My favourite tracks are "I like the look" by Mr Mancini from the movie Peter Gunn (Gunn number one) released 1967 by Paramount, based on the cult TV-series from late 50s to 1961. (Please note me if wrong) The album then contains my 2 favourite tracks by the king, "Naked city", which is a cultseries about the detectives in the 65th police presinct in NY. This gift came from the truely great friend Thiago of Florinapolis/Santa Catarina/South Brazil, and its the same geezer who runs the magic Bossa Brasileira Blog were one can find items one did not knew existed. The records no one else have. And a whole lot of Maysa. Well what is this? Nestor Amar al went to the USA in the same era as the king of bossa guitar and made latin music the big bug it became. Laurindo even clamed Nestor having the greatest voice in the business. The sound of this album is sofisticated samba to say the least. Like a wild animal in the shape of a cocktaildrinking gentleman. As always Laurindo perfect timing. The version of the classic "Brazil" is one of the best i have ever come across. The vol.1 & 2 is still in print and contains some tracks from this one but the real thing is better right? Well this is pure magic ppl. Im attaching the text from Loronix written by Zeca Louro: "Moos was so nice on sending this album to Loronixers. I did not realize how hard to find it is. It was recorded as a series of three volumes, the first one is already available at Loronix and you should use Loronix Find It to check, recommended. It was recorded in 1953 and you can hear sometimes a draft Bossa Nova birth there. THE HI LO´S HAPPEN TO BOSSA NOVA REPRISE 1961When the fine jazzquartet Hi Lo´s were to catch up with the bug Boss anova in the early 60s they had to have help with this task. For the first it wasnt very many translations of the original portuguese lyrics around in this time. Second they needed expert skills in teaching the best way to play the guitar. And who got this job? LAURINDO ALMEIDA! Laurindo sat down and translated all classical lyrics (as we know them today (in english) to Outra vez, Chega de saudade, Samba de uma nota só and so on.
