Logo Contest

For all of you graphic designerd out there who want to show off their skills, now is the time.  The Showdown has launched a contest to design a logo for the band.  The logo will be on the front cover of their CD, t-shirts, stickers, guitar cabs, bass drum heads and basically all over the face of the earth.  The prize is not definate yet, but will run along the lines of cash, a guitar, band gear, Mono vs. Stereo gear, Peavey gear or maybe a combo of all of the above.  Entries may be submitted to theshowdownlogo@hotmail.com.  The contest ends Sept. 24 so you had better get to work.  Head on over to their MySpace and check out their music.  Maybe it will inspire you.

Oh! Gravity

Switchfoot has finished their new album and is preparing to hit the road full force.  "Oh! Gravity"  will be released on Columbia Records on December 26th.  The tour will kick off October 17 in Bakersfield, CA and ending November 22 at the House of Blues in Las Vegas.  Switchfoot will be playing at smaller, more intimate venues in order to connect with their fans more.  The first single off of the new album, ?Dirty Second Hands,?  will be digitally released September 19th.  As for the the rest of "Oh! Gravity," the band says they have developed a harder rock edge for the overall sound of the album.  Check out their website for a sneek peek at the album art and ticket info.     Not quite, but about as close as it gets without that wonderfully meshed dozen and a half sounds.  The lead singer/guitar player for the band Thrice , Dustin Kensrue, has started his own little acoustic side project.  Without being on any type of label and the few recordings he has being live, it sure is like candy for the ears.  He is however supposed to be working on a record this summer (How is yours going by the way? Greaaaat, glad to hear it.)  and we can all own the full Dustin Kensrue collection, til date anyways.  You can give him a little preview listen at Myspace  and be sure to leave us and him feedback on what you think.
