2008-06-07 15:05:00 Radiohead held an online contest to remix "Nude" from their 10th album - "In Rainbows" This was quite a difficult task for all the electronic musicians that entered, as Nude is in 6/8 timing, and 63bpm. Most music that's played in clubs is around 120bpm and usually 4/4 timing. It's near impossible to mix a waltz beat into a DJ set. This resulted in lots of generic entries consisting of a typical 4/4 beat, but with arbitrary clips from "Nude" thrown in so that they qualified for the contest. Thom Yorke joked at the ridiculousness of it in an interview for NPR radio, hinting that they set the competition "for a laugh" and to find out what would come out of such an impossible task. I decided to take the piss a bit, as the contest seemed to be in that spirit. Based on the lyric (and alternate title) "Big Ideas : Don't get any" I grouped together a collection of old redundant hardware, and placed them in a situation where they're trying their best to do something that they're no...

2008-06-02 06:53:00 OMG it was an unbelievably crazy trip... Just one day before, I and my friend had decided to go to Fukui to see the Kireek's gig. And actually I have a lot of old friends there, so I really wanted to meet them again too. We ride on Dj Hi-C's car, and had arrived there around 5 PM on Saturday. We were enjoying the party till really late night... Any foreigners don't know about Fukui at all, I guess. Actually even Japanese don't know so much either. But in fact, there is a really deep and real music culture! Guess what, both Dj Akakabe (2002 DMC world battle champion) and Dj Yasa (2007 DMC world team champion) came from same hometown, Fukui! Can you believe that such a tiny town has produced two world champions! And even Techno, Rock, House, Break Dance, etc etc... those genres' level are very high too. A guy who got the second place of some big break dance world championship is from Fukui. You know Richie Hawtin's recent Japan tour was in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Fukui!! lol Anywa... Especially this "Adobe Media Player" has really nice interface, beautiful effects, nice contents and so on. I really recommend this! But we can't watch those MTV videos because of the region cord in Japan!
