UK Techno Legend Luke Slater at Alpha Box - Mar 1, 2007

Bigtime industry DJ Luke Slate r (Planetary Jacks in SL) dropped a live set at Alpha Box. Luke is one of the UK techno pioneers and the SL EDM crowd certainly knew it'd be a treat to have him spin in-world. The sim was full and it wasn't even an announced event. 40 people squished into a small 512 black box. Although the club build was a complete laggy hassle, filled with resource-sucking animations, large filesized pictures that never rezzed beyond gray, and overlapping rotating lights, the event was a treat and the people had a great time. Thank you Thinker Moy for producing this event. And thank you Astryd Moore for the heads up about this event; good lookin' out.

I really enjoyed the format of the show (with a studio/living room setting) that weaved from talks about A.M. Architect's music and influences to playing his original tracks mixed in with music to fit the same flavor of genres.Lots of friends and familiar faces came out...

I happened to venture to a party in the late afternoon. DJ Dark Mac hines Hax was droppin' some HUUGE heavy breaks. I'd never been to Le Cube http://slurl.com/secondlife/Solchan/142/1 05/52/ but the place was happening, and the DJs obviously have skill. It was a very refreshing experience, proving that SL is a great place to find true DJ talent from across the globe. Elecktro Newman seemed to be producer/promoter of the event. After Darkmachines came another resident DJ, STEED Schlesinger. He immediately caught my attention as well with his booty breaks and funk joints.I was thuroughly impressed with the fact that these DJs broadcast a video feed as well. I would love to do this myself, but can't manage to get enough bandwidth goin' for me. I'm glad to see more and more RL professional DJs are making their way to play parties in SL.

DJ Pits Yao at the HUB Club

I hopped over to the HUB Club Feb 12th for some drum-n-bass. Pits selects some excellent tech-step & dark-step for the show. The tracks he pick are perfectly avant-garde in the beat play. I really really like the www.audiocourses.com build, possibly one of my favorites in SL. I was called in a few hours prior to the event to DJ a prestigious mechinima movie premier after party at Nemesis. The film was produced by Robostudios and featured the important aspects of Second Life living and business. Some important SL heads came out including Prokofy Neva, Hiro Pendragon, Sitearm Madonna, Pheonix Psaltery, Rik Riel, Boliver Oddfellow, Moo Money, & more. Not many stayed around for the afterparty, but the tune played on none-the-less.

Biffy Berjis Drops some HUGE tracks at Muzik Haus

It was late Friday night on January 27, 2007. I just finished DJing a RL gig and headed home. I popped on SL and soon after heard about a gathering at Muzik Haus (owned by Mr Widget, built by Hern Worsley)http://slurl.com/secondlife/Braun worth/167/198/180/Biffy Berjis immediately impressed me with some Basement Jaxx. Following that was a very cool Joy Division mash-up. Very cool eclectic tracks kept coming. One great tune after another.I would have to say Biffy's set made my night. Her track selecting and ear for great electronica is one of the best I've heard in a long time.
