This somehow has managed to go under the radar, it's pure classic Blaqstarr heat. He's all over the dirty-as lyrics hidden by smooth, love-serenade, RnB style vocals. I gotta say i'm not always into it- can't say i've been playing bang hard, but usually it's totally on point. Blaqstarr usually is all over the production too - i think that's his first love, but apparently on this one he's handed over the credits to Diplo & Switch, so i'm all like fuck yeah! They've gone for what sounds like some mini-moog warmth for the bass synth, then some Timbaland-esque synth strings. Cool vocal chops and chants - totally bmore just completely chilled out. This one has shot straight up to one of my favorite tracks of the year. I'm a big hater atm, but these i love. Totally yes, love.Mumdance seem to throw out a gem every now and again, this is def no exception. I can totally handle the bloc party-esque vocals, although i usually don't. It seems that when they're coupled with an eerie, ethereal synth-bell harmony, and then flip into a main part that is just balls-out hard and dancey that they take on a whole new piece of cool. I'm not sure if i've mentioned this like 3 times or not at all yet. So i'm just mentioning it anyway.Me and Mu-Gen, aka Mu-Gen and scattermish are... Slap & Dash are supporting Pase Rock for his Melbourne show this Friday. We're spinning on 4-decks, and have a pretty rad set so far. Expect us to play and sample about 3000 songs (in good taste tho, good taste). Pase Rock should be sick too, as i've heard a lot of good things from his tour - he'll be DJing and MCing. This was gonna be one mega post with the last, but i thought it would be better to break it up into two. It's a great label that's always innovative and has broken a lot of great names. With the latest release, we've got a stormer, by none other than the label owner himself, Daniel Haaksman.The EP is called "Who's Afraid Of Rio?", and features some top talent from Rio on vocal guest spots; SD Boys, MC Jennifer and MC Betta. Trumpdisco are two local kids from Melbourne, who came straight outta left field with this one!It's their first "real" production and it's an ace of spades (hahahahahahah)."Supermassive" starts off with some king filtering and an ethereal vocal break to get peoples attention, then flips into a heavy, fidget rave tipper. Nice cuts, cool sound, and an awesome track.These guys have taken a year off their studies and real life duties to focus on producing this year, and i'm all for it! PANCADÃO DO MORRO is an attempt to amend previous wrongs from the label, which was the Sou Funk EP that gave the world Baile Funk during a very dry spell. No need to dwell in the past, investigate further if you want, but their new project is helping the baile's of Sao Paolo. Im not going to post a track from the CD, but from one of the artists called Mc Gringo, who is German, living with wifey in the baile 'burbs. Ok, so due to a grindin tip, worked out how to update all my colours properly and change over to the new version of blogger.The layout and colour is slightly different than what it used to be but not that much.I've added a couple of features in the form of fun Widgets (anyone know a good place to find some more, or know of some good ones?)a: the poll - i figure i might make the odd poll for people to vote for. the current one is if anyone will be bothered doing it. I did like 4 different versions of this remix b4 i came to one that worked and i liked, and when i got going on it i completed most of the thing in like a day or 2 (which is good for me, i linger). Got the parts for "Just Can't Hold Back " and "Hold Up" (hence the vocal sample in there) from detboi ages ago, so i could do a remix for a bit of fun.Fun Fact is that the bassline was made by chopping up his original bass, then when it changes about half way thru, that's from me freakin around with Auto Tune, trying to do that T-Pain voice thing for a bit of fun. I first came across "Bad Ding" which is my favorite track of his (i love "I'll Be Around" too) in Bones' "Inside The Barnyard" mixtape.So i searched him out on myspace, and found his page with 4 dope tracks. Only thing is that he's only been logged in once, when he joined, and that's all that can be seen.The producer if you haven't caught on yet is Sharkslayer, and he has some seriously heavy sounds. If anyone has any info or contact or something, hook me up cause i'm in need of another hit!
