2009-05-11 07:56:00 Let me introduce you to Rod Kashani, a 21 year old producer from California who goes by the name of STICKY K. This guy has been killing it for me lately and with his debut EP signed to Dubsided records he's got a bright future ahead of him. His Bandari Funk EP is a straight up party banger, bass heavy egg on your face shit that i just cant get enough of at the moment. Sticky K has plenty of remixes out there on many other blogs but its his original tracks that really show off his production skills and make you sit up and pay attention, especially his track called "The Wierdo" that is now available to stream on his myspace page. Look out for Sticky K doing a guest Mix on Kissy Sell Out's BBC Radio 1 show in the future with promises of new original tracks and remixes of artists Larry Tee, Maluca and Diplo. 2009-05-08 04:45:00 To be honest, I struggle to get exited about full length albums because so often there will be 3 or 4 great tracks and then a whole bunch of filler where the artist tries to demonstrate how overly eclectic there production skills are. Having got that off my chest though, when I do get exited about an upcoming album its like a kid counting the sleeps before christmas. Now not to say that the Major Lazer project needs another person hyping it up but we're talking about auto-tuned babies, Nora Dean samples, air horns, surf guitar and of course and truckload of lasers. If non of that sounds remotely fun then your probably beyond the help of modern medicine. Getting to the point of this post though, last night in the club I caught Mu-Gen mashing together Hold the Line by Major Laser and Wha-La-La-Leng by Poirier which just struck me as one of those happy, nerdy coincidences given that an official version of the mash had turned up in my mail the day before. Not only that but with each release his style develops and his production get tighter (anyone in doubt should check his Three 6 Mafia remix). More and more I'm hearing "have you got the new Douster thing" as a conversation starter cause there always seems to be some new heat floating about the nets. This track has been out a little while now and just keeps finding it's way into my sets as a mid-tempo transitional record. 2009-04-21 07:37:00 A little more than a week ago I had the Saturday night off and so headed down to the laundry to catch Sydney producer Harmonic 313 doing a DJ set upstairs. I've been a fan of his work for a few years now but wasn't sure what to expect live (we all know great producers can often play very lousy DJ sets). Safe to say though he tore the roof off and did it with a sound that was party, but at the same time ultra futuristic! He has recently released an album on Warp which comes highly recommended but at the very least do yourself a favor and check his website, it's a color matching game that allows you to win unreleased tracks. Sins On Sunday All-Stars

Sins On Sunday has been killing it for the past 6 months down in geelong and it just keeps getting bigger and better, there is nothing on a Sunday in Melbourne that comes close to this party! This Friday the Sins crew have joined up with The Late Show and are holding an All-stars night at mine and everyone's favourite venue Revolver. The Late Show Fridays at Revolver lately have been amazing, its seems to be getting a lot of hype and anyone that was there for the Trevor Loveys gig a couple of weeks ago will know how much of a party it is. Not long after I caught the guy painting on a WCA production with a pretty unique, liquidy 3d style. Since then I've followed his work, forever impressed by a consistent evolution of style. Today was no different, except that his new 'Revok' piece absolutely floored me. It's balance of design elements to letter structure is next level. He has an individual sound and take on bass, party and fidgety music, which seems to be developing in every new track or remix that he does. Although i've been following his tracks, and blog, In Robots We Trust for quite a while, it was after he did a remix for Digital Manges that i really fell head over heals for his sound, and really took notice of his talents. His take on "Manges" is basically a really smart remix - but is so without losing anything in the party department. He's used the original samples in a new way, cutting them up, changing them around and re-sampling them to delight. He's re-interpreted the breakdown synth pattern with his own bit of wobble and done plenty more. The track vibes, and has been sending peeps wild whenever i drop it.
