Last Fidget Friday?
2008-03-06 05:50:00 I've got lotsa songs to put up that i haven't gotten round to as per usual. Some cool new stuff in the works. For now tho, come to this, tomorrow night at Loop Bar (Fri 7th March 08). Meyers Place place is up near the top of Bourke Street btw... If this night doesn't go really well, it's looking like it might be the last one at Loop, so why not come down and party it up a bit. Me and Emillionzzz are playing. If it doesn't go all that well tho, all is good, as Mu-Gen is trying to organise a new night at Eurotrash, which'll be a dope weekly thing, called NUMB. There's gonna be some live DJ flavour, plus we'll probably try out a 4 deck thing, and residencing the night, with some other cool guests! Also, if you haven't yet, get over to the scattermish myspace, or mu-gen's (an earlier version of the song is here) to check out our new track that's been getting some good attention from top cats. It's a remix of B.O.O.T.A.Y, from the Bangers and Cash EP, which we're remixing all ... More About: Friday
Uzela Boom
2008-02-24 08:31:00 I hope this ain't a release any one's looked over. It took me a few hints to actually get onto Danish group Fagget Fairys, and i'm def glad i finally came around. They're debut EP has been released on the Palms Out Sounds imprint... You should of course know these guys through there ever fucken sick blog, which has paved the way for many others, and is always an inspiration. They do mad parties, post mad tunes, and now have a mad label...So them awesome girls, FF where also the Palms Out first release, and they made sure it was a goodie. They did a vinyl release, which was packed with a remix from scatterblog fave, Drop The Lime and the track "Samo Ti" and the remix of that by Copyfokking and Rita Blue. Better yet, when you order the vinyl (for a cheap $10!) you get 5 extra remixes, which brings us to the hottness of this post...You all know by now that the scatterblog loves Ooh Ee yeah? Good, cause we're more than pleased to be able to post another one of his remixes, and this ... More About: Boom

The Count & Sinden - Beeper (A-Trak Rmx) [Domino]Jokers of the Scene have been killing it a bit too much lately, with one hot release followed by another, so I was of course all too pleased when they agreed to do the Guest Spot 10 this month... Their debut EP, "Y'all Know The Name" came out this month on Fools Gold Recordings, and man it's straight up one of the best releases of the year. Ever since first getting a listen on one of their Disconnected mix tapes, this track has been haunting me. It's got some serious sounds, massive bas...
Man Eat DJ and Jizm
2008-02-12 09:35:00 I'm so glad i came across these two producers. They're young (20 and 17 respectively), they're from Holland, they're into fidget, they got fresh ideas, and they've got some tracks free for signing, they be Man Eat DJ and Jizm. I found Man Eat DJ thru myspace and was well impressed with something that stood out so well among the friend requests. The dude has talent, and has produced a few slammin tracks now (check his player). You can grab some of them up on some download sites, check out Beatport, DJ Download, Juno Records thru Rizzardo Records (look out for his upcoming release on Rizzardo featuring MC Mego, called "Spin Them Traxx" with some extra remixes).Anyway i browsed thru his player and saw he'd done some fucken dope tracks with Jizm too. Make sure you check out the track "Let Me (preview)" it's damn well mental! For label peeps, it still ain't signed, which surprises me a whole lot... Also be sure to check out Jizm's tracks in his player, cause as i'm aware none o...
Mowgli Boot - February
2008-02-12 09:11:00 The next tune in the Mowgli monthly bootleg thing he's got going (last one posted when he did his guest spot). As promised they're gonna be up here each month. This time he takes on Benny Benassi's "Satisfaction" tune. You all remember that video clip yeah?Mowgli flips the tune around and makes it a more minimal fidget vibed thing. Sounds nice and Mowgli, can't wait for next months.Benni Benassi - Satisfaction (Mowgli Mix) (alt link) - cdr More About: Boot , February
CHIP CHEDDER
2008-02-12 00:35:00 Just copped this. Chip The Ripper. This beat is leaning, however he is from Cleveland Ohio.It would come more highly recommended if he didnt look like a joke, or his name was less assocated with bong heads, but Akon sort of gives it that G slant so more people can front to it while they dance. He has a new record out called Unplugged. Never heard it, can't recomend it, but I must say this track made me look twice. Although all I found was a few photos of him getting his photo taken.CHIP THE RIPPER -MYSPACECHIP THE RIPPER feat AKON - CLUB ROCKING (ALT LINK)
What is it?
2008-02-04 16:44:00 Just outta curiosity, are people actually reading thru them mega long posts like that future beats post, or just grabbing the tunes? Hell i can't say i read thru all the words of every blog i read, and if you're like me (which i'm sure most of you probably are in this respect) you have the consentration of a gold fish so quickly run thru stuff... anyway i'll prob keep writing like posts like that anyway, i think the words section of blogs are important, i'm not just meant to be whoring tracks out. i'm just wondering if anyone takes the time to read it? This post is gonna be shorter anyway, i've got lots to post, but not enuf time to be bothered right now, so i'll split stuff up.Riva Starr seems to be on a role of greatness at the moment. He's had some hot releases in the past, getting a start on Claude VonStroke's Dirtybird, then some more love thru Jesse Rose's Front Room Recordings, he has recently done an awesome awesome awesome remix of Armand Van Helden's ...

OOH EE IS BANANAS
2008-01-23 13:19:00 Local Flava merchant Ooh Ee Hooked me with a Great new remix he has done for Broken Beat collective "The Politik" (Bombe Segue and Marc de Clive Lowe). They currently have a remix competition and OOH EE has sent me his remix of "Turn The Light". You can check out the comp deets here. OOH EE is on point with his Nu Disco flava, but you can peep some of his slow jam remixs for Knofoowl as his alias Woozy Woo. Future Beats
2008-01-21 13:17:00 Ok, so i spose that's a bit of a pretensious title for a post, but fuck it, these are some future beats in this post. Some are made a while ago, some recently, but they're all exhibiting a form of bass music that i think is gonna keep evolving.I know i'm a little bit biasd, cause i love the bass, but i bassline fueled and focused music is taking over the club scene. I'm not trying to say it's never been there. I'm not gonna pretend that most big club tunes don't have either a massive kick drum or a thumping bass line, just they've never been this defined before, this prominant or this weird and interesting. What has really been intersting me as of late is the cross-relation of genres tho, and what new sounds we are seeing come about. Really the last 2 years especially have seen a big mash of genres, i mean no one can describe a song without the use of multiple sentences, and although that's annoying when writing flyers, it's dope when it comes to music. There's such a wor... More About: Future , Beats

Armand Van Helden - Je T?aime (Riva Starr remix) (Southern Fried)Mmm, them some tasty beats. Better keep your lips peeled. Mowgli (also check out his stuff as Minimow) has been high on my playlist over the last year, with is own form of fidget house. It's characterised by a sort of filtered squelch, with little bit of a minimal touch and smooth and chunky basslines with some nice stabs thrown in. Really well produced stuff that always manages to get dance floors going, kinda on a le... More About: Spot , Guest
2 jams for summer
2008-01-06 04:51:00 Although it might be below 0 for many of the northen readers, in oz it's hot as, and summer is in full effect (we're a bit into it now). Anyway here's a couple of essential jams to help your party this summer.First is a remix that keeps growing on me, from those sydney-siders, the Bag Raiders. I think i've said it before, but they really have that 80s teen drama sound down, ya know? This "Pr Nails remix", and "Fun Punch" especially, make me think of shows and movies like degrassi junior high, or teen wolf or something, you know, jocks in those football jackets they have in the states. Look out for the Kid Sister Remixes EP out soon, as well as a Bag Raiders 12", all on the ever improving, always awesome Fools Gold Recordings.Kid Sister - Pro Nails (Bag Raiders Remix) (alt link) - Fools GoldAnd since Kid Sister is owning it right now, (also there's word of a full-length LP coming in 2008) you should go check out the Pro Nails EP on beatport which has this awesome summer jam on i... The Mail Came Burning
2008-01-04 22:43:00 I'm not really a fan of those posts which just chuck up all the mail a blogs got, but i had to do one. Mainly cause most of these things i've been sitting on for a bit, and haven't found a post for them to fit into, or just haven't got round to posting them, but they are some dope choons.First one is a remix of that supa awesome group Bonde do Role, who released some EPs, singles, their first album, toured heaps (they almost got to oz), then broke up, ahh the kids of today with their Rock'n'Roll, Pacman video games and Hoola-Hoops. We all shead a tear and hope they reform as they once were (apparently Pedro and Gorky are staying together as the group, just no Marina, there's also rumors they'll reform however). Anyway, with that all aside, Smoke My Tobaco (if you've been reading the blog for a while, you may remember this post from aaagggess ago) have done a sick remix of their track Micose. I can't say i've heard the original, but the remix is a dope bouncey, beatsy, bai... More About: Mail , Burning , Burn
Top 5 Blogs 2007
2007-12-30 09:29:00 Ok, so i'm actually gonna do a couple of lists for this year. I was thinking how way too hard it is to do this kinda thing, (i'm never very good at distinguishing my favorite favorites from my other favorites, and usually end up changing my mind by the end of deciding) but this year i thought i'd take a crack. I've been meaning to do a top 10 albums for a while now, and really there are only about 10 albums i'd actually highly recommend from this year. I also might do a top 5 or 10 tunes for the summer if i get round to it.Anyway i thought the first list i'd make, which subsequently doesn't take nearly as much time as the other mentioned ones, is a top blogs list. Usually you might find this list jumbled in with a bunch of other ones, but i thought i'd give it it's own post. There are a few blogs i've got on my hot list these days, that i try to make sure i read all of, when i find the time. So it was kinda hard distinguishing the top 5, as there's definitely a couple mor... More About: Blogs
go hard?
2007-12-15 01:15:00 I'm about to head off to meredith music festival for the weekend (thanks to a certain mad cunt for hooking me up with a ticket), so i thought i'd do up a post before i leave (i've managed to finish it with seconds to spare, hah!). If you're headed to meredith as well, here are tips on dope acts that aren't the main attractions:DJ Mu-Gen - He'll be doing the next mixburn, so look out for that. Man has skills to pay bills, is a pro DJ. I don't meet many people who don't love his styles. He's gonna be doing a solo, then dual set on 4 decks with Ooh-ee which should be radballs.Town Bikes - A hot tip from one of the funnest (with a double 'n') people i know.Junior Reid - Reggae kingParis Wells and Thief - You might remember Thief from this post, i'm interested to see what this dual show is like.Midnight Juggernaughts - Keep getting bigger.Back to normal stuffs...I've been getting into German duo Alter Ego only recently. They have some how managed to slip under my radar for a... More About: Hard
Guest Spot 10 - Detboi
2007-12-11 23:44:00 Ok so i'm back on posting, got 3 dope posts lined up on top of this one, so get your read back on.This post is the first of a new segment which i'm gonna try and maintain. It's basically a guest-spot top 10 list. I spoke to diizy (sadly his blog just closed down) about the idea of something similar to this ages ago, but never got round to it, and just put up my own top 10s.Anyway the idea behind these lists is to show some dope new music that we may not know about, from a special guest lister, that changes each time. The idea is also to give you links on where to buy the music, so if it's been released you'll get the link. But, as it goes there's often unreleased tracks in these lists, so there'll be myspace links etc. Hopefully i'll get one up a month, or something there-abouts. (You know i'm not gonna commit to a regular thing, we don't wanna interfere with my lazyness)Anyway, the first list comes from one of my favorite producers atm, with a fun-arse original style, det... Mixburn Vol.3 - Young Steezy
2007-12-07 09:10:00 Before i go on with this mixburn post, i'm just gonna say that i'm not gonna post any more mixes, unless they're done for some special reason. So maybe if they're with some original beats, or made especially for the blog, or something like that, they're probably not gonna go up. Basically it's just cause i'm getting sent way too many mixes in the mail. It's not that there aren't good ones, just i don't have the time to go thru them all, really. So if you send me them and don't get a reply or a post, i don't mean any disrespect. Anyway, it seems there's tons of other blogs posting mixes, and pleanty of places for them to be spread.Anyway, enuf of that, and onto the Mixburn series. If you haven't checked it already, we're up to volume 3, and they're going well. Each mix is getting thousands of downloads too, so i'm glad you all dig them. Click the mixburn tag to see some more of the posts, otherwise there are links in the side bar.So Vol. 3 comes from the man behind Y... More About: Young , Burn
Killing It
2007-11-26 15:10:00 Photo: Holger PootenThere's a whole lot of artists really killing it at the moment, people who seem to be doing no wrong... I don't always get to post about every artist that's really doin it for me, so here's a post with a few more people that i haven't hyped enuf as of yet... or i have and have just forgotten that i've done so.Boy 8-BitBoy 8-Bit would have to be right up on the top of my list for DJ of the minute. He's got some cool older releases, but it's his latest releases that have been way off tap, aka super awesome, and in such an individualistic way. This guy is really making his own sound. It's kinda like house, bmore, grime, dubstep and hip hop having a party at 8-Bit's house. Definately a guy to keep an eye out for. His remix of Mika's "Lollipop" is like my favorite track at the moment (but i don't have a copy of it, so if anyone wants to hook me up with a reasonable copy so i don't have to wait till new years eve, please email me), this remix of Lethal Biz... This, is going, to make you freak
2007-10-30 03:08:00 Just some supa hot tracks that i got my hands on the last few days. I love good influxes of choons, i've had to pour through a lot of shit lately (i'm glad i get paid for DJing to justify all the time i spend listening through, and to music). Some gems are hitting through tho, and it's about that time of the season where a bunch of hot albums drop (i'll do a run down post on some shiners from the year so far in my next post probably).Anyway first up is a fucken fresh arse track i've been hanging for, for the last while and now have, courtesy of awesome blogger-buddies discodust. It's the Fake Blood remix of Bonde Do Role's 'Gasolina'. I'm loving the things Mr. Blood has been doing lately, he's really taking a good look on tracks, flipping them the fuck out, giving them his own distinctive sound that fits in all too well with rocking fucking DJ sets. He's using a similar big synthy sound that he has in two of his other recent remixes of The Black Ghosts and Armand Van Hel... More About: Make , Freak , Going , Goin

2007-10-23 15:56:00 Ok, i know i just did a hype post, but these guys need to be mentioned. They just released an EP, Acid Girlzzz throught flamin hotz records. You can grab in at Phonica. I think it'll be only released as a vinyl (like other flamin hotz things seem to be). It does however, come with a special DVD inside with all the audio in digital format for us digi-dj-hoes (hence the 10 pound price tag). It's a serious sound, big, belchy, fat and squelchy. They're describing it as "Tukky Bass".Big Stereo just did a post on them though, with a grand track and a grand remix. Cousin Cole also did a cool remix which is floating all over the web.Todosantos!! More About: Santo
Zzzzz
2007-10-23 14:30:00 I've noticed a couple of supa hot releases seem to have gone under the covers unnoticed (also some have been a bit more noticed but are still dope and need a mention). So here's a post with some hints...Hijack - Wobble EPfor my liking. The track "No More" is a big sleeper and is like one of my favorite tracks Really fidgety stuff, on the interesting side of it though, it keeps up there and un-minimal enufatm. The squelchy bassline drop is a must! "Trouser Jazz" is also definitely a fun track. Check the Hijack Myspace for some listening.Curses! - Hungry 4 Love (Vinyl)This would have to be my favorite Curses! release, and it just seems like it's been overlooked, and not shown as much love as i thought it should have been. The beat just keeps evolving and evolving, and gets heavier and heavier. It's got a driving synth, and hands up motion - definite killer in a big set to a crowd of lovers, something to finish with a bang and some more uses.Proxy - DecoyProxy is another sweet arti...

Lick It are putting up The Bloody Beetroot s this friday at the Order of Melbourne on swanston street, and i expect it'll be well pimp.If you haven't gotten onto the beetroots sound yet it's time to do yourself a favour. I'm sure if you read any blogs on a slightly regular basis you have most likely heard of them by now tho. It didn't take me too long to get obsessed with em, but i think it was the timbaland remixes that sent me over the edge. They just turned the tracks so far upside down and around it wasn't funny. What i really dig about them, is it's like some actually inspiring, fun-arse ravey stuff. I think i've said before that a lot of the nu-rave/indie-electro, gigantic synths and lotsa distortion thing is just being a bit kill... More About: Burger , Urge

DIGITAL PRIMATE
2007-10-09 02:48:00 Digital Prim ate has this TOP rankin killer package that more of the world should know about. He is well established in Melbourne , having started an intergral Techno/ Bass weekly called "Centriphugal" at Deep 11 during the 9T's. So much for History, it was great, but I feel Digital has progressed massivley from the "Techno" thingy and worked the bass end. He has recently dropped this Album called "Seige Mentality". It is a super Bashment Hybrid, with a mash of artists that toast and toast and toast over his beats. My fav track is "Career a Move Up" with Mad Doggy Dog from the Carribean. I have Mad Doggy on a few 7's but he spits and kicks on this. I was going to post it, but it looks like on OG Vinyl release through Bang Gang is sort of in the mix. Please bug them to release it or buy it here.So to keep it even more Melbourne, we have the infamous Macromantics with Digital Primate on the beats. Some heard the blog babble about Macro being hailed up by Lemon Red and the Tuntable Lab... More About: Digital
Mixburn Vol. 2 - Loot
More articles from this author:2007-09-27 10:37:00 And then there was volume 2. This one comes from Loot . You may have seen his name on flyers for the Leaky Holes In Your Brain nights (p.s. we got cup eve covered), i've been playing with Loot a bit lately, and damn straight he's a dope DJ. I first ran into him through the hollerboard funnily enuf. Saw his name there, grabbed his Spank Rock remix, and was like "this guy's onto something", then i saw that he was from Melbourne too, and was like w'oah. So thru a bit of net chat we did a couple of gigs together, turns out he knows like half the people i know (i know there's small world factor, but in melbourne it's completely ridiculous!).Loot always manages to keep very true to his own style, which is evident in this mix. He has some dope tracks in there that i'm really and sometimes play, yet it sounds totally different to one of my mixes. Kinda like when your best mate has all the same tracks as you, but pulls out completely different sets. It's done really smoothly and flawl... More About: Burn 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 |
