Two tracks here on an electro / ghetto tip. First up we have the Michna (aka Egg Foo Young) remix of Freaky Bitches by Andrea Parker. Late last year Touchin' Bass revisited a 2002 ghettotech collaboration between Andrea Parker, Dj Godfather and Assault releasing two stellar 12s of electro remixes. Michna's interpretation is by far the most club orientated and while on your laptop speakers it might sound a little straight forward, trust me when I say it really kicks on a big system. Well for anyone who was there thank you, for the people that were not, you missed out big time. Last Saturday was pretty much one of the most rad gigs I have ever been a part of.The party started at around ten with Lewis Cancut (aka Bobby Sock Girl) opening things up. The little fella walked out, threw his hands in the air, yelled some abuse at the crowd, then proceeded to play one crazy as fuck world/hip hop set. I play at the ESPY a lot and have never seen that many people getting down to the first dj, pretty much as soon as he started. Kudos Lewis, Kudos.The venue just kept filling up more and more as Mat Cant & Paz hyped the dance floor. Both dudes know how to kill a party (in the good sense of the word). Mat was on his b'more, party town vibe making people sweat, whilst Paz tore up the world/club joints to a salivating crowd. Lewis CanCut signing in for first time blog duties. I'm the last of the Scatterblog posse to post and as an introduction here are three tracks that lately i'v been playing out at every opportunity. Coincidently all South American style. This joint is everything I Love about Kuduro, super clean, bouncy and full of structure yet somehow still really minimal (how do they do it?). Well what a weekend, i was busy as hell and traveled way too much than i wanted to but it wasn't all work and no play. On Sunday i hit up the Good Vibrations Festival in Melbourne and had a rad time, big Paz was rocking the Jager tent playing his much loved Soca music, chest hair and all, just for the ladies. Damn, two bits of heat to post today, and two tracks that have become staple in my sets if I do something hip hop or bass. The man in behind them is Andy H.He's been a DJ for 10 years, and is quite the turntablist. He co-founded First Word Records, and is a regular at what looks like and has been revered as the hottest mid-week hip hop and drum n bass night in the UK, Tuesday Club in Sheffield. Check a snippet of andy doing his thing at the club in this video.So onto the tunes... Andy's track "Kick Kick" is a fine bit of 110bpm hip hop bliss - filled with a big n dope bass line which i love finding in tracks at this speed (hands up to Danny Breaks on that tip also). Very deep sounds this Saturday 07/02/09 at F4. I know AC23 and Kammo rule dubstep in Melbourne, so it is great to be on a great bill like this. Deadbeat is mainly from Canada but part of him has partied in Berlin, so he has a very dub tech streak. This is one for the bassbins alongside a cross section of Melburn's premiere minimal heads Mike Callander (somehow Mike and I are on the same Melbourne label called Freakshow Disco) and Dave Pham, and the new dad Declan Kelly, and bP, who holds tight a world bass sound. I really like the photo session by Lars Borges for Deadbeats press shots.I posted an old Deadbeat track somehow titled Melbourne Round Midnight. Well it looks like Melbourne is becoming the second home to Baltimore club music. Recently we have had pretty much every big name including Scottie B, Dave Nada, Bird Peterson and Sammy Banana's hit our shores skooling the youngins with a loose your shit, party fulled club sound. Although Baltimore club has been around since the early 90's, it's todays b'more performers that are flipping it into a sound that everyone seems to be hyping on. It was really trippy how it came to me, cause some dude i didn't know had mentioned the Mario track to me like the night before in a club. No real specific point to this post except the tunes in it are all staples in my set. Some have been in rotation for eva and a bit, others are new to the party jam bag. The first is a Tre Black tune which is pretty much one of the most versatile hip hop songs I use. Been rocking this one for a long time and cant believe I'm giving it up now (Lewis you can stop bugging me for it). It's old school booty and party as hell. Ninja Tunes is about to drop The Qemists album "Join The Q". There are also mixes floating about by A1 Bassline, Elektrons and Subscape but the remix favorite would have to be the crazy quasi dubstep joint from King Cannibal .
