NEW TOYS
2008-12-09 07:24:00 Well in the past week I have gone a little mad sorting, loading, cue-pointing and all sorts of digital crap to a whole lot of new tunes. It's kinda driving me nuts but at the same time makes me excited like a kid with something new to play with. Not going to say much after the giant xrabit post, except these tunes are all new from the "digital sort out" and all rad for totally different reasons. The first is a Filthy Dukes track remixed by Si Young of Plastic Little fame. I love the whole Plastic Little crew's vibe and this track ain't no let down. I would just like to say to them "hurry up and finish the new album".Filthy Dukes / Tupac Rock (Si Young Remix)Filthy Dukes / Tupac Rock (Si Young Remix) (ysi)The next one is from a new artist to me, An-Ten-Nae. I just brought his Acid Crunk Pt 2 Ep online the other week. His stuff seems to be on the world/dub tip but this one is a nice little hip hop burner remixed by one my favourites Ghislain Poirier & Face T. Check it out and b... More About: Toys
XRABIT IS KEIILIN EM "EXCLUSIVE"
2008-12-09 01:50:00 First up XRABIT is a dude, straight up dude. Our knowledge of XRABIT all started with Paz mentioning him at a music swap day at Scatterts a while ago. I had no knowledge of the him at this stage, and feeling like a bafoon I ended up ordering what i could on wax at the shop after checking some tunes out online. The only thing I could get my hands on was a white label twelve of "killing em" that contained an instro, remix and the album version on it. I then played this to Scatters who messaged XRABIT. XRABIT got straight back to us with some tasty treats. Turns out he has been into the blog for a while and ended up sending the exclusive pre-album drop on "Killin Em" to us. The following is the lowdown on a producer who we all think is gonna make some big waves in the next couple of years. He got signed to Big Dada a couple of years ago with a different MC from new jersey, but unfortunately the whole thing fell apart. Big dada stuck with him, though and so he was on the look out for fre... More About: Exclusive
Scatterblog fan page @ Facbook
2008-12-07 15:02:00 For all you facebookers out there (which is supposedly everyone these days right?), we've gone and created a facebook fan page. Basically it's another avenue for all things Scatterblog related, and might be a nice way for you to keep updated. It's gonna feature:- i spose the most fun part, is that it will feature posts (or "notes") of exclusive stuff that isn't on the blog. This will include info on releases by artists we're big fans of, and also things like tracks and mix tapes that we get sent that don't make it up on the blog.- events: so we'll be creating facebook events thru there, so you can see where your next Scatterblog party is.- news on what we and the blog are up to- also a little p.s. i'm gonna put some of the archives of posts that have been wrongly removed up there, so you can see them if you missed them ;)So if you're on facebook go and become a fan and invite you're friends.Scatterblog Facebook Fan Page

I Ain't Wid It
2008-12-03 11:21:00 There's a brand spanking new Palms Out Sounds (POS-005) release. It's by fellow Melbournian Digital Primate and the EP's taken on an almost-all-Melbourne playlist. There's 3 original tracks on there with a lot of remixes:- I Ain't Wid It with remixes by Scatterbloggers Paz and scattermish, along with more by Mikix The Cat (you check his Outlaw track!?), Dee Dee and Acid Jacks.- I Don't Give A Fuck with remixes by Boody B, Resin Dogs and Harmon.- On Da Radio with an Andy Van Damage & Ooh-Ee remix.Digital Primate is getting his hands real dirty working on projects under some different monikers. He's started his Turntable Spoilsports label among other things, so keep an eye out for all that.Since we're proud bloggers, we got the ok to hand you up our two remixes from the EP. Paz's one is drumtastic, filled with hollas and rolls, and my one is me doing a hip hop thang, with vocal spills, a bunch of drums and some serious bass. I reckon the mastering got fucked up a bit on m...
taking the hard road to clubsville
2008-12-02 12:15:00 These are just some fun tunes i found in the last couple of days. A new gem from a definate scatterblog favorite, Bird Peterson up first. I was played this track the other night at revs (show was dope btw, big party) by our boy Mat, and have started nagging him for it. It's kinda a classic bird tune, but then again completely different to what his tunes sound like. It's real synthy, but on the higher end, it's a bit glitch, has some signature claps, kicks and vocal chops, and is a big bit of fun - def a kinda hard bugged out thing for freaky clubbers - and it sounds that much better when played out.Bird Peterson - Shooked (alt link)The other one is a take on the infamous Crookers remix of Kid Cudi, which i still here played all over. Agent X takes a bassline tamper on this, by flipping the bass and drums, but keeping all the same notes. I think this'll be my flip trip to use for this tune as the crookers one, although a gem, is a bit too played out by now ;/Kid Cudi x Crookers -... More About: Hard , Road , Taking
SLAP AND DASH AND PAZ AND MATT AND...
2008-11-27 23:19:00 It was really unfortunate that Detboi cancelled his tour down under, word is that he might try again in the new year. The good news though is that we can headline Slap and Dash , the 4 Deck mash up between Scattrmish and Mu Gen. The Late Show is my regular every Saturday and I will be filling out the yards after my fellow scatterbloggers, and the now Melbournite Matt Cant is with us before hand, as well as Team Opulent. Slap and Dash rip together all the genres that the Scatterblog boasts, but there is exceptional talent putting it toghether. You will hear Slap and Dash on a regular basis at Revs and I know how hard they work at getting the sound tight, because they promised me a remix before December but they have been too busy... Anyway we will rinse out the front room, and the backroom takes on Chi town house legend Rahaan with all the Late Show regulars.More info and music at: THE-LATE-SHOW.BLOGSPOT.COMThe Scattermish remix of RHYS - HOT SUMMER (in a previous post) is a serious c...
Santogold & Bass Heat......
2008-11-26 01:55:00 With all the vibe about Santogold going on you would think that there would be a mass of remixes hitting the interweb but no, well yes but the quality is definitely sub standard. Especially with my favourite track off the album (Creator) I have been supremely disappointed with the efforts of the remixers until now..I work at a record shop in Melbourne and ordered a 12" a couple weeks ago hoping for a shinning light in all the Santo remix crap floating around. UK dub/grime newcomers Dub & Run have finally delivered on the Santo re-touch and put my hate to rest. Its a dubby delight that does not move too far away from the original but a sweet touch up none the less. Check these guys out as they are remixing all kinds of goodness like the Beatles, Young Folks and many more. Looks like they are doing it all the old fashioned way on vinyl too. So if you want more then I guess you will be using one of those big black round things to play it. If anyone out there has the acappella ... More About: Heat , Bass
He said it was a girl thing
2008-11-20 06:48:00 Damn, Mark Meny popped straight outta left field for me on this one. Only ever heard his DJing b4, not his beats, so this was totally an explosion on to my radar. He did it as part of the A1 Bassline remix comp for "Girl Thing " and got a notable mention on A1's new blog. A1 was down with the second drop, but it's ALLLL about the first one for me. It's a real smooth sound, but oh so bouncey, my shoulders start popping instantly. Def check this one - it's some bass fun, but subtly done and well pronounced.Upon looking, it's looks like Meny has been getting some hype around the blogs, and has also just gotten 3 more remix jobs for us to look forward to in the future. Also peep him as part the Peer Pressure crew.A1 Bassline - Girl Thing (Mark Meny Remix).(alt preview link)Check out the post at A1's blog for remixes by Disco Villians and Pirate Soundsystem (who did the winning remix. This beat's got heat
2008-11-15 10:14:00 Here's my latest remix for you. It's been used as the club song/promo or something like that for the release. The tune is by RHYS, who got his shot at fame as one of the finalists on so you think you can dance. I think the tune is gonna get lots of support, and be featured on channel 10 as their summer song apparently. Hopefully the remix does well too. Post it, share it, play it do whatever. Gimme some feedback if you like it.I basically stripped down the vocal, and just kept the chorus, and cut up some of the words and had a play.I resampled the drum loop, and made it push and suck. Then layered them a lot to give them a bit more of an almost African swing (yeah i been listening to way too much Buraka), beefed them up something too.The bassline is totally scattermish, except this is one i didn't make, and decided to use a preset for once. But as they say, "if the glove fits".And yeah on top of that there's another fun synth i had in my head at the time, that's a bit more big ... More About: Heat

DJ JEM - CHICAGO - TAKE 2
2008-11-06 02:11:00 I wanted Chicago 's Dj Jem to feature a bit more on the site, so I asked him to host a spot on the scatterblog and post some stuff that was typical Chicago. Jem makes crazy club fashioned tracks and remixes, and unfortunantly our first attempt at this post was pulled down via the new Blogger tough's because of one of Jem's great ghetto twist on Lady Ga Ga's new hit. I thought I would try a revised edition. I let Dj Jem do some of the talking:Dj Jem- Chicago, Illinois.Born and raised in Evanston, Illinois (a north Chicago suburb) to Belizean parents Dj Jem a.k.a. 2008-11-03 07:48:00 This is the remix i did of Kelevra and Bryan Cox for Crux Records. Mastered version, it's been getting some play by some DJs to good response. It's one of my flip mixes which is a thing i do with some songs where i try and make em change throughout, kinda like a mini mix - but extra flowing, so it's not like the song changes completely or anything, just evolves.Anyway play it, share it, do whatever the fuck you like with it ;) The rest of the release can be bought here if you want it. The mastering turned out weird, but the song has value at times.I'll put up more tunes soon enuf, i reckon you'll like some of the new tings.Kelevra ft Bryan Cox - Leanin & Swervin (scattermish Flip Mix) (alt link)
Re-edit
2008-11-02 07:14:00 damn, even this post got taken down!! i thought i'd re-post it, cause every thing on there was approved and legit. The only thing i thought they might have a reason to take down the post for was the frank sinatra chew fu remix, as it was a bootleg. So here's the test repost without that song to see if it was that, or wheather the RIAA are just being a totalitarien regime, let's hope they don't take down the whole blog ay.Got a takedown notice from DMCA via blogger the other day, which was strange above anything. They've been getting at blogger, and making them take down posts on blogs. it's happened to a bunch of blogs, but what's real weird is that it's been happening to posts with 'approved for posting' songs. So songs that have been sent by artists & labels to blogs, with the intention of them being posted. All the blog gets is a letter saying the post has been deleted, doesn't even tell you which track is in question (in the case of their being multiple tracks).Ano... More About: Edit
DAVE NADA and NADASTROM
2008-10-27 23:35:00 Melbourne street zine Zebra asked if I could interview Dave Nada about his pending tour to Australia and the Stereosonic festival. He is the amazing middle generation of Baltimore Club acts heading to our shores this summer. We just witnessed Rye Rye, the Unruly Scottie B is here for NYE and Nada and his jacking beats will be here November the 29th. He hinted at maybe some sideshows, and I was hoping to get some exclusives for the blog before he lands, but until then, educate yourself with his Nadastrom project (Dave Nada 'N' Matt Nordstrom).Estelle - American Boy feat. I wanna get it off
2008-09-05 09:53:00 This somehow has managed to go under the radar, it's pure classic Blaqstarr heat. He's all over the dirty-as lyrics hidden by smooth, love-serenade, RnB style vocals. I gotta say i'm not always into it- can't say i've been playing bang hard, but usually it's totally on point. Blaqstarr usually is all over the production too - i think that's his first love, but apparently on this one he's handed over the credits to Diplo & Switch, so i'm all like fuck yeah! They've gone for what sounds like some mini-moog warmth for the bass synth, then some Timbaland-esque synth strings. Cool vocal chops and chants - totally bmore just completely chilled out. This one has shot straight up to one of my favorite tracks of the year. Big up to Highness for this one - it's a top blog that started up when we did, i only found it the other day tho.Anyway check this song, it's not on a party tip, more of a listener, but you'll listen over and over and over.Blaqstarr - Get Off (production by...
Mixburn Vol. 4 - Mat Cant
2008-09-04 01:06:00 When your in Australia you view new music via the web, but get a hell-of-a-lot of influence from other cats around you. When you live in Shepparton (rural Victoria) I don't know how you keep on point, but I have to beleive the hype as Mat Cant is getting on the radar with his nifty edit work and tight mixes. This one crept into the scatterblog email, and I have to give it up to the cat, he has layed down the hype on this one. Mat gave us the down low...Im 23, been djing for 4.5 years, for the last year and a bit under the name Mat Cant. 2008-09-02 17:48:00 I'm a big hater atm, but these i love. Totally yes, love.Mumdance seem to throw out a gem every now and again, this is def no exception. I can totally handle the bloc party-esque vocals, although i usually don't. It seems that when they're coupled with an eerie, ethereal synth-bell harmony, and then flip into a main part that is just balls-out hard and dancey that they take on a whole new piece of cool. Throw in a "Jump Around" drum sample and we're alllll gooood.Maths Class - Branches (Mumdance Remix) (alt link) [1977 Records]Ok so i did a post on Sharkslayer a while back, and was all like "who the, what the!?!" Slap & Dash support Pase Rock!
2008-08-27 01:20:00 I'm not sure if i've mentioned this like 3 times or not at all yet. So i'm just mentioning it anyway.Me and Mu-Gen, aka Mu-Gen and scattermish are... Slap & Dash are supporting Pase Rock for his Melbourne show this Friday. We're spinning on 4-decks, and have a pretty rad set so far. Expect us to play and sample about 3000 songs (in good taste tho, good taste). Pase Rock should be sick too, as i've heard a lot of good things from his tour - he'll be DJing and MCing. On top of that, $15 ain't half bad. It's on at Roxanne, y'all know that place now yeah? - China Town, down the dodgy lane way, and up a few flights of stairs. I think you might be able to hit up Opulent to get on the cheep list. Might see you there, don't be shy...Oh also, on the Saturday, come see me play after K-Oscillate at revolver. I'm on 4-7am.
