2007-04-16 12:23:00 Sorry i didn't post about this earlier. No Comply has been doing some mad arse exhibitions while they've been in town. They get a whole lot of great street artists and get them to decorate and make objects. There's the skateboards in fed square. the plastic men at central station records and the new wooden toy store. I've managed to get down to each of those and they've been real good, there's also been free drinks. And dude i can't get enuf of Benzo's stuff. I know i've got reason to be bias, but quickly got over that thought and accept that i just like it cause it's great work (look out for the plastic space odessy man that lights up (above), and the cookoo clock skateboards)They're still running some more events that go until the closing party on the 28th of april. check their myspace for details and locations.

2007-04-14 05:11:00 Yeh so i stumbled through these guys through them being in herve's top 8 friends list on myspace when i was browsing. And damn! I got immediately hooked when i heard their track Yeah Yeah Yeah, 'shit was off the hook. Turns out that Dead Soul Brother s comprises a duo of Herve (how many side projects and other names does he have!) and Seba (Not to be confused with Sebastian Teller who's in their top 8).Their sound is like something really cool and different too. You've got the track Yeah Yeah Yeah which is like a herve style fidgety house sound, with a big arse rock edge to it, but still all too fit for the club. Then you've got Come On Now which has even more roots in rock, with vocals that feel like they're some sorta radiohead, 70s, alternative coldplay hybrid, but still with a phat bubbly bass line hovering throughout, and a kinda squeaky house beat. 2007-04-07 05:51:00 BOH! BOH! BOH!Ok so here's a dubstep tip with a difference. This is the first mixtape released by DLI, so ima be all like EXCLUSIVE! (gun fingers in the, bratt-a-tat-tat style).DLI as you may know is a melbourne dubstep producer, which is a rarity in itself, and man i like the tunes. But this is the mix (does include a track in there as the intro).Basically what i really like about this mix is it sticks true to his DJing style that i've been experiencing here and there. Dubstep is pretty heavy stuff, it's loaded with bass, sounds so nice with subs, and is a sorta half-time drum n bass mixed with dub kinda genre. DLI often takes all the best bits of that, throws in some sorta "this ones for the dancefloor" influence, crunches bass, and makes it so much more palatable for the not-too-seasoned dubstep listener. Like i'm into listening to dubstep, but i don't really download it, and every set doesn't send me crazy just cause there's some mad track in it, so i feel like i'm a lis... Cousin Cole hooked me an email with it, and it's acting as the promo mix for the EP, Tougher Than Featherz (picture) that Cole and Pocketknife have out. 2007-03-31 05:32:00 I'm really weird when it comes to Chromeo. Like they're good, but i find it hard to get into a lot of their tracks, i just never fully while-out. However that ain't ever true with remixes of their tracks. Some remixes i fully love. This is one of them. It's a Thomas Barford remix, and yeh it's well mad, that synth sends me kinda crazy.Anyway what was strange is that the synth reminded me of this track i made ages ago. Like ages like a couple of years i spose, when i used to use Reason, and before i really new anything about production. It's weird going thru all them songs, i was in a strange place at the time, and i dunno, they're like, omg, soooo last year. And yeh, it was pretty killa, in too many forms of the word.I ended up getting there pretty early, and the place was like completely empty, we were seriously like the second people to get there. I dunno why the fuck no1 was there tho, cause Paz was playin some pretty wikkid tunes along with Ransom too, those guys have big, pumpin record collections. They do real tight sets, check em out on saturdays at revolver if ya get the chance.Low-b came on at like 1ish and the place was pretty packed by then, but still spacious enuf to get down and funky and not sweat from the balls. They got lotsa air cons in there tho, and I got a nice spot under a fan too most of the night so was pretty cool (bad da bum ching?).
