Radio Head's Latest Rock Album: In Rainbows
2008-02-22 20:55:00 RadioheadRadiohead is well known as one of the world's most important bands of today. While their debut was at the peak, they're road to stardom begun after the success of "OK Computer" - a success that few probably would have predicted when the five of them started playing together in the early 80s after meeting at Abingdon School in Oxford. Radiohead was among the most closely watched bands of the decade, getting some influences on different artists such as Queen, R.E.M., and Miles Davis. They were embraced as saviors of modern guitar rock, only to resurface in 2000 with a new sound heavy with electronics, minimal vocals, and few guitars.Radiohead have released a total of seven albums in sixteen years. The albums thet've released includes Pablo Honey, The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, Hail to the Theif and In Rainbows . In Rainbows received positive reviews, among the best of Radiohead's career. Critics praised the album for having a more accessible sound and personal ... More About: Radio , Rock , Album

We released two kick-ass albums from very different bands, DROID and MONSTER IN THE MACHINE. "Both albums are special for me. "I started ESR because I felt like there was a void in the music industry. I aimed to fill that by promoting more great music. I wanted to give these artists a channel to be heard. These records are completely untouched by industry politics and trends. They come from the respective musicians' hearts. They also are the beginning of ESR! I'd been wanting to start a label for a very long time, and now it's up and running! We're on the right track... "Last year was also fantastic for KORN. We released a great new album and toured the whole world with SLIPKNOT drum legend Joey Jordison behind the kit. I had a great time playing all of those shows and meeting fans at the ESR booth. Avril Lavigne settles lawsuit for her hit single "Girlfriend"
2008-01-09 22:13:00 Avril Lavigne TORONTO - Punky pop star Avril Lavigne has reached a settlement in a lawsuit that accused her of plagiarizing her summer hit single, "Girlfriend ." As a result, claims that '70s rock band the Rubinoos were ripped off have been dropped. Songwriters Tommy Dunbar and James Gangwer charged that Lavigne's boppy track sounded suspiciously like their 1979 single, "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend." Rubinoos lawyer Nicholas Carlin says a confidential settlement has been reached but could not comment further. A spokesperson for Lavigne could not immediately be reached. A settlement does not necessarily indicate an admission of copyright infringement. Lavigne has said she'd never heard the Rubinoos song, while her manager, Terry McBride, has said he consulted a musicologist who found no similarities between the songs. Still, McBride admitted he would consider settling the matter out of court to avoid a costly legal battle. More About: Avril Lavigne , Lawsuit , Single , Avril

Wait Is Over For Led Zeppelin Reunion Rock Concert
2007-12-10 21:52:00 Led ZeppelinThe wait is over for Led Zeppelin's reunion tonight (Dec. 10) in London to headline a tribute concert to the late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, in what has been billed as one of the most anticipated performances in years. The scene at London's O2 Arena is already frenzied, with a 500-strong line for merchandise and huge waits at the will call windows. At a soundcheck on Sunday, select lucky fans were allowed to watch Zeppelin trying out such songs as "Good Times, Bad Times," "No Quarter" and "In My Time of Dying." The three surviving members of the hugely successful 1970s group have rarely performed together since the 1980 the death of drummer John Bonham following a drinking binge. By their own admission, each reunion has been a flop, so anticipation is high that the 90-minute set will get somewhere close to the heyday when they were considered by many to be the world's biggest rock band. Rock Music History
2007-12-07 20:53:00 Origins of Rock Essentially hybrid in origin, rock music includes elements of several black and white American music styles: black guitar-accompanied blues; black rhythm and blues, noted for saxophone solos; black and white gospel music; white country and western music; and the songs of white popular crooners and harmony groups. Emerging in 1954?55, rock music was initially referred to as ?rock 'n' roll.? After 1964 it was simply called ?rock music.? The change in terminology indicates both a continuity with and a break from the earlier period; rock music was no longer just for dancing. After 1964 the music was influenced by British groups such as the Beatles. The 1950s?Bill Haley and Rock 'n' RollThe first rock 'n' roll record to achieve national popularity was ?Rock Around the Clock? made by Bill Haley and the Comets in 1955.
