A couple of bands this past year decided to liberally interpret a couple of classic albums (so-called) in their entirety and, to my mind at least, were very successful. Dirty Projectors Rise Above (black flag) From the album "Rise Above" and perhaps the best band name EVER.Japancakes When You Sleep(my bloody valentine) From the album "Loveless"You can have your Teagan and Sara and your Pipettes as well: Remember way back in "aught four" when Nouvelle Vague did a bunch of covers on the album "A bande Apart? Hmm French hotness singing new-wave, punk and post punk songs, mm-yummy. I'm not sure how this D.K. song could ever come off "un peu sexi" but somehow it does (I can hear you say "sexier than jello, but dear God how?") Maybe it's the coy delivery sung with a touch of embarrassed duress, then perhaps that's just my "dirty projection". Nouvelle VagueToo Drunk to F***and while we're on the subject of ironic coversand pretty girls singing with a certain "je nais se quoi" replete...
