Various Artists - Yoga One
2008-02-17 14:44:00
Track: Cosmopole Artist: CantomaExtract from IODA:Yoga One is a collection of world, dub, and chillout meditative grooves consciously chosen and sequenced by experienced yoga teachers to enhance yoga and life. Each track was selected by Yoga One founders and owners Amy and Michael Caldwell to follow the arc and flow of classes at their downtown San Diego interdisciplinary Hatha yoga studio.Personal opinion:Think about Yoga and you have the mood of this tune. This is mellow and also close to the New Age genere.Cantoma "Cosmopole" (mp3) from "Yoga One" (Quango Music Group, Inc.) Buy at Napster Buy at Amazon More On This Album

Track: New York Stories (Live) Extract from IODA:Orquestral jazz is one of the passions of Jazz Terrassa, shared for the last five years with seventeen jazzmen of different nationalities and proven expertirse. Unique repertories, many of which are unpublished in this country, and collaborations with masters such as Slide Hampton, Frank Wess, Dick Oatts, Randy Brecker and Gary Smulyan endorse the project.Personal opinion:All right, some big band jazz with this nice song. Brisa - Synchronicity / 10,000 Miles Away
2008-02-16 14:38:00
Track: Synchronicity Extract from IODA:Nite Grooves continues on its journey for the dark and deep soul tech. Enter Brisa. Previously known as half of Agora Rhythm, responsible for amazing remixes of Joi Cardwell?s ?Be Yourself?, as well as having 3 of their own delectably techy instrumental EP?s on Nite Grooves, Brisa issues his first solo project and it?s sure to be just as well-received. ?Synchronicity? is an epic head-nodding excursion bound to please the deep and the tech dancefloors alike is followed by ?10000 Miles Away?; a straight up 4x4 synthy funk track that?s just as heady and smooth.Personal opinion:For today let's close the "dance" part with this 8:56 min. long track, start to move.Brisa "Synchronicity" (mp3) from "Synchronicity / 10,000 Miles Away" (Nite Grooves) Buy at iTunes Music Store Buy at Rhapsody More On This Album
Time Promises Power - Tomorrow Grieves Today
2008-02-16 14:24:00
Track: I Dream of HovercraftExtract from IODA:With Tomorrow Grieves Today , Time Promises Power delivers an album that unrepentantly drifts from the smokey dance floor to the adjoining rock club upstairs, and then to the headphones of the stereo set. Produced in New Orleans soon after the horrific wake of Hurricane Katrina, this 13 track release abandons the concept that an electronic album or band needs to be strapped to a specific genre. From the dub-influenced "NINEZERODAWG", to the Kraut Rock inspired "Tonight the Stars Revolt!", TPP brings us songs that reference a familiar universe while laying their own unique and mysterious foundation of synth-injured hooks, solidly fumbled beats, and atmospheric hypnosis.Personal opinion:Quite hypnotic track, this could be used even as a dance tune. I would suggest to play it during the night time 'cause has a bit of dark oriented mood, anyway it's enjoyable, nice beat and atmoshpere.Time Promises Power "I Dream of Hovercraft" (mp3) from ...

Track: ShiningExtract from IODA:As one half of Vienna`s phunkiest, Kruder unfolds his own answer to Dorfmeister`s off-piste Tosca activities with an entirely solo project. Unsurprisingly Kruder has produced a veritable feast of down beat delights, served up to mouth-watering perfection. Like the Thievery Corporation, Memphis Industries and Pork anything with Kruder`s name associated with it has a seal of quality.Personal opinion:Something quiet e mellow where Kruder soundscapes go in another direction , worth a download!Peace Orchestra "Shining" (mp3) from "Peace Orchestra" (G-Stone Recordings) Buy at eMusic Buy at Amazon More On This Album

Bob Mintzer Quartet - In The Moment
2008-02-15 16:14:00
Track: Straight AheadExtract from IODA:In the Moment " is the first small band recording Bob has done in six years."In the Moment" was digitally recorded by Mick Guzauski (Eric Clapton, Yellowjackets, Earth Wind and Fire) and Neil Dorfsman (Paul McCartney, Dire Straits, Sting) and mixed by Hal Winer in 24-bit/96kHz at BiCoastal Music in Ossining, New York on December 16, 2004. Bob is joined by the current rhythm section for his Big Band which includes Jay Anderson on bass, Phil Markowitz on piano and John Riley on drums.Personal opinion:Another Jazz tune, this time Bob Mintzer show us his point of view for this kind of music, anyway this should be considered quite standard jazz genere (at least I do consider it like that) played by great musicians. An extraordinary artist, previously unreleased who has supplied a 16 track masterpiece for release on iTunes.Xurba brings the fine qualities of Boards of Canada ? the sublime sentimental and off tune melodies; the subtle atmospheric chords that fade into the background; the addictiveness that sends you into that familiar ?Boards of Canada? hypnotic state; combining them with the glitchy yet mellow ways of Arovane and Autechre.Personal opinion:"Quiet" track, if you are into Boards of Canada and/or Autechre you should check this out. Track: 3rd MovementRecorded live in Orchestra Hall at Symphony Center in Chicago , IL on May 10, 11, 12 and 15, 2007.Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 7 in E major is one of his most popular Symphonies. It was written between 1881 and 1883 and revised in 1885. It is dedicated to Ludwig II of Bavaria. The premiere, given under Arthur Nikisch in the opera house of Leipzig in 1884, brought Bruckner the greatest success he had known in his life. Charlie Hunter Trio - Copperopolis

Cueball Bobbin'Extract from IODA:Now together for over 5 years, having toured the world (and beyond) the Charlie Hunter Trio follows up 2003's "Friends Seen and Unseen" with Copperopolis, same 3 guys, but different in one big way - IT ROCKS. literally - "I was just feeling rocky i guess" says the band leader. And the addition of John Ellis' playing both the wurlitzer and melodica opened up alot of space for charlie to simply shred. HUGE sound - a genre-busting combination deeply rooted in jazz and rock, while clearly indebted to funk, electronica and eastern influences. David Byrne: "Fuzzy Freaky" from the album "The Visible Man"
2008-02-08 14:47:00
Extract from IODA:In the course of making the Feelings CD, I naturally came in contact with various re-mixers, artists, beat addicts and audio hackers whose work excited me. I approached some of these to do ?remixes? of the songs, and some others approached me. DJ Food, whose remix of ?Fuzzy Freaky ? is a work of perverse art, I met at his ?home? at Ninja Tune records in London, home of Coldcut and the Herbalizer. Mark Walk had produced a record I love, Ruby, and we had been talking for ages about working together... here he showed me how ?Fuzzy Freaky? might have sounded... as a hit single.Personal opinion:Here you have a track by David Byrne a great artist that never stops to amaze me. Steve Reich - Music for 18 Musicians
2008-02-07 16:17:00
Extract from IODA:His era-defining opus, Music for 18 Musicians , one of his most enduringly popular works with its creamy orchestration and trippy patterns, has found new roots in the heartland. A band of regular Michigan students and volunteers led by Bill Ryan has devoted the last year to perfecting it; in the process, turning it into something of a lifestyle.Personal opinion:Decided to give a nice twist on classical music, and today, I'm going to expose Steve Reich (if ever needs to be exposed) one of my favourite composer in this genere. I think that would be a nice chance to get closer to "minimal" music and honestly I must say that if you never heard this kind of stuff it may be difficult to get it but you should give it a try you'll never know...much better to be open-minded then not right? Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey - "Fourth Aye"
2008-02-07 15:12:00
Extract from IODA:Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey "Self is gone" is an introverted examination into new millennium mysticism through free form organic space jazz.Recorded in two afternoon sessions, one in chicago and one in sunny l.a., self Is gone is a powerful dose of electric free-jazz first takes.Personal opinion:In "fourth aye" you can listen to the trio jamming in a kind of free improvisation. Even if this tune doesn't has nothing in common with the "classical free jazz style" (at least to me) and a good example of that would be one master piece by Ornette Coleman "Song X", here the grooves and phrasing are more approachable for the listener and the sound (especially keyboard) reminds me Chick Corea sounds in "Return to Forever" (another great piece of art) which gives that '70 mood to the tune.Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey "fourth Aye" (mp3) from "Self is gone" (reapandsow, Inc.) Bobby Previte - "The Ministry Of Truth"
2008-02-06 15:08:00
Extract from IODA:Some of the best musicians in the so-called ?jazz? world have traded in their tradition for this electric experiment in old fashioned rock and roll. Charlie Hunter puts down his 8-string guitar and picks up a Fender Telecaster and a Fender Bass for the first ever on record; Steven Bernstein and saxophone magician Skerik blast through the Sex Mob trumpeter's horn arrangements; Stanton Moore (Galactic) lends his deep New Orleans percussive funk; Jamie Saft produces and records all this magnificent noise, adding his own voice on various organs, guitars, and basses; and, underneath it all, Previte's tough drums propel the Coalition ever forward.Personal opinion:Now this is a great tune and I can say the same about the album 'cause I have this one and it's a pleasure to listen this kind of music. In some way you are projected in another time...it seems to go back in '70. Enjoy this instrumental rock tune played by some great musicians. If you are interested to know ...
