Track: Duality - Keith Kramer, Keith Kramer, David Taylor, Gottfried Stoger, Lisa Lee, Wei Tan, Ching Chen Juhl, Clara Lee, Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, Keith KramerExtract from IODA:Casual Dualism is a celebration of dichotomy and the relationships between all things. The external musical experience reflects the music that we hear, while internal music is that which is experienced in the musician?s soul, accompanying the external.Duality, a work for soprano saxophone, bass trombone and string quartet, presents a journey of possibilities for the different colors of the ensemble to interact throughout the four movements of the composition. Jon Irabagon's Outright! - Jon Irabagon's Outright!
2008-04-17 15:12:00
Track: Groovin' HighExtract from IODA:The music changes drastically from track to track, and there is a hint of something for everyone, while wrapped in the most free and breathing group improvisation. References to the music of Steve Coleman, Dave Douglas, Ornette Coleman, Wynton Marsalis, Tim Berne, Myron Walden, Peter Brotzmann, and even Squarepusher and Aphex Twin might be heard, as the music is created from the realm of todays New York jazz scene. The songs in this debut CD appeal to not just to the avid jazz lover, but to anyone who is interested in hearing forward-thinking music built on spontaneity and excitement.Personal opinion:Some more contemporary jazz, great sound and ideas. Track: SheExtract from IODA:Music resulting in apocalyptic cleansing for the listener who is awakening or awake.Deeply textured and vocally enchanting Trip-Hop and Downtempo excursions into varying levels of consciousness. This is a mild way of describing the far reaching effects of the album 'School Of Sorcery'. It is unique in character in it's influences, resource material and content and somehow brings a somewhat melancholic cohesion to it all.Personal opinion:Very nice stuff, check out more about Sublimatus at Myspace HERE.Sublimatus "She" (mp3) from "School of Sorcery" (Cyberset Music) Buy at iTunes Music Store Buy at mTraks Download More On This Album

Trevor Pinnock - Bach: Six Concertos for the Margrave of Brandenburg
2008-04-15 15:05:00
Track: Brandenburg Concerto No. 1 in F Major, BWV 1046 - 4th MovementExtract from IODA:The Brandenburg Concertos While we know that Bach finished a sumptuous manuscript of six concertos (for ?plusieurs Instruments?, as he titled it) in March 1721 for presentation to the Margrave of Brandenburg, it is not certain when Bach actually composed these works. Some might date from the weeks immediately preceding the dedication, but the existence of early versions of some pieces suggests that Bach may have compiled much of the set from a pool of existing works. His aims in revision and compilation seem to have been to present six entirely disparate solutions to the instrumental concerto genre, a genre which was by no means fixed and which could imply many instrumental combinations. This attitude of attempting an encyclopaedic survey of a musical genre and also of perfecting and refining the best of what he had already written became a major compositional concern for Bach over the last three d...

2008-04-14 16:17:00
Track: NeverendingExtract from IODA:Porpoise Corpus is an exciting contemporary ensemble under the direction of Peter Whittingham Award winner of 2006 - Dave O?Brien. Few stylistic stones are left unturned as they create compositions of logical yet unpredictable narrative, and improvisations of dramatic power and beauty. This young band of progressive musicians does a great job to lead the listener through this complex journey, by the clarity and sensitivity of their playing.Personal opinion:Some cool contemporary jazz performed by Porpoise Corpus and you can get more info HERE.Porpoise Corpus "Neverending" (mp3) from "Porpoise Corpus" (F-IRE Recorded Music Ltd.)
