Founded in 2003, the ensemble presents a diverse repertoire, from Renaissance to modern works, to its audiences. Similar to the other chamber ensembles at West Point, the group performs for audiences throughout the region, as well as at official military functions. His career has taken him from the pioneer who established the trombone as a solo instrument to the world famous virtuoso to whom the most prominent contemporary composers have devoted more than 80 trombone concerti. He is today regarded as THE trombonist of the 20th century and one of Sweden´s foremost international musical personalities. Recently he has parallely established himself as a conductor and is now the chief conductor of two Swedish orchestras. His early experiments with writing music for his own instrument have developed him into an internationally sought after composer with commissions from orchestras such as Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Scottish Chamber Orchestra. There are few other musicians who can show such versatility in their activities as Christian Lindberg and who do so many different things on such a high international level. More articles from this author:2006-08-06 19:15:01 Friday evening, 12th of May 2006, outside Vienna Rathaus, more than 40000 people could watch and hear Tine Thing Helseth, a 18 year old girl from Norway , perform the first movement of the Haydn Tumpet Concerto. Tine was one of the finalists in the "Eurovision Young Musicians" Competition Contest. 18 young musicians from all over Europa participated, but only seven were chosen by the jury for the Final. For the first time, the Final of the competition was organized as the outdoor grand Opening Event of the prestigious Wiener Festwochen with a live audience. The event was also broacasted to most countries in Europe.The winners were:Winner - Andreas Brantelid (Sweden, cello)First runner-up - Tine Thing Helseth (Norway, trumpet)Second runner-up - Dmitry Mayboroda (Russia, piano) Tine has also participated in other competitions, both in Norway and abroad and done very well.
