70s DISCO Party TOP 20 Songs & Fashion Tips
2007-03-12 16:19:00
When I was writing about hand jive, suddenly I had the urge to pull out all the TOP 20 DISCO PARTY songs from the 70s.Yes, let’s take a stroll back to the 70’s, where everything was groovy and vivid back then. Since I’ve to wait for the 20 songs to complete uploading, here are some tips on the 70s Disco Fashion , if I can remember it well. I remember those days where we have to dress-up or we won’t be able to enter into any Disco clubs. For the ladies and probably some guys too, the hot pants look and spandex tops were cool back then. To capture the lights from the disco balls, a gold lame, leopard skin and stretch halter jumpsuits and white clothes that glowed in ultra violet lights are a must. For the actual guys, stain jackets that reflected the light and a medallion resting on a tanned chest (hairs on the chest were accepted those days, it makes the guys look macho) in an open neck shirt with the collar turned up were de rigueur. If you don’t get it, just watch “Satur...

Remember The Hand Jives
2007-03-12 14:56:00
Last Saturday, I was at my cousin’s party and they started to play Otis's number, 'Willie and the Hand Jive '. Yeah baby, it was the HAND JIVES time!! And I got up and started showing-off my jives. While I was busting the floor, a young chap approached me and said, “That’s a cool Macarena dude….never seen that before”. Macarena?!! What in hell was he talking about? Doesn’t he know I was jiving with my hands? On my way home, I thought, “probably I didn’t do it right”, and as soon as I got home, I grabbed my old “Grease” movie and started searching for the part where John and gang performed the hand jives. “Yeap, looks like I did ok”, probably those youngster need some lesson and realised this would be a great topic for my memories. So, here’s a minor lesson in hand jives.History: Hand jives are set sequences of hand and arm movements performed mostly while sitting down in theatres that emerged in the 1950's. In particular it was done to Johnny Otis's n...
Please Read This Blog Rules and My Principles
2007-03-11 00:18:00
I guess its time to lay down some straightforward set of rules and explain my standing on this blog. I made this blog for the sole purpose of entertaining everyone by introducing the artist and their music/videos which I enjoy from my personal collections. Some of the videos you view here might be sourced from others, but I can ensure you that ALL the music in this blog belongs to me through many years of purchasing LPs, CDs, Carbon Tapes and Musical Videos. I spend a great deal of time converting my LPs, VHS and Carbon Tapes to MP3 & CDs. Sometime I hate new technologies, but we all got to live with it. Frankly, I probably could buy a brand new car with the amount of money I spend on music. I can ensure you that they are all legitimately purchased, originals and copyright paid. Some are also inherited from my parents and friends, which are quite rare nowadays.I consider this blog as my home and I treat it as part of my living room. Anyone is welcome here, which makes you my gue...

Britney Spears (The Brat vs The King)
2007-03-09 19:53:00
Couple of days back, I did an article about The King vs. The Killer and here’s the update version of The Brat vs. The King. Yeap, I mean Britney Spears . This will be one memory I will never forget or should I say one nightmare? Anyway, since she went “kojak” lets see what the future brings her. I feel The King’s looks don’t suit her. We need to recommend her a new look. Any suggestions, other than those below?Gwen Stefani is the sartorial Midas: Everything she touches achieves style gold. A high-concept platinum 'do could impart a hipper-than-thou glamazon sheen on Brit-Brit's white-trashy pate. Can the woman who sang "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" ever truly be street? Prolly not, but rocking a nappy 'fro featuring an artfully-placed hairpick a la the Roots' ?uestlove might nab her an award for Most Follicularly Creative. And that's something. If Kelly Clarkson can find her way onto the emo-tastic Bamboozle Festival lineup, then surely Britney can get away with the...

Great Guitarist
2007-03-08 19:03:00
I am a guitarist and it was the first musical instrument I even picked up and started learning. The person who taught me to play my first 3 chords (C,F,G7) was my dad. Eventually, I ended up playing those old numbers from the 50s and 60s. He was a guitarist for his army band back then. I still remember the first song I played, Jambalaya. What a great song and still is, but it took me almost 3 weeks to learn the chords even though it was easy, just only 2 chords, but I was strumming like an idiot with no sense of getting anywhere, I was a dum-ass. Probably, I’m not a natural guitarist and had to slog as my fingers were stiff like planks. Oh, I still remember having those cuts on my fingers, really hurts and I almost gave up. But I was too determined to rock like those great guitarists, and gradually I started learning the guitar on my own after my dad gave-up on me. Probably he realised that I was hopeless. After so many years of struggling and suffering, today I think I am an acce...

The King vs. The Killer: Who should have been KING?
2007-03-05 20:36:00
Who is the real KING of ROCK n ROLL? Yeap, I am referring to the two legends, Elvis Presley the King and Jerry Lee Lewis the Killer . One is known to move like the devil and the other turned gospel into boogie-woogie and claimed to have sang for the devil. When I was young, through the influence of my parents, especially my mum, most of the time I was listening to Elvis, because my mum fancy him. When I got older, instead of Elvis, I started to fancy Jerry. I just love his musical style and expressions. Not for the scandal of him marrying his third wife, Myra Gale Brown, who also happened to be his thirteen-year-old second cousin, Jerry would have given Elvis a fight till “hell breaks loose” for the title “The King of Rock n Roll”. Someone quoted, "Elvis might have the title, but Jerry is King of Punk Rock. He is Punk Rock before Punk Rock". Well Jerry, I hope you are happy with the title “the killer” and I will always remember you as the raw and wild one. As for Elvis, t...

The Queen of Booty Shaking
2007-03-04 05:55:00
Whenever I watch all those booty shaking girls on MTV brings to mind how the legendry Tina Turner did it in the 70s & 80s. I proclaim her the “Queen of Boot y Shaking”. To prove my point, I went digging for my old videos and I came across this clip of Tina shaking her booty with her energetic sexy back-up singers during the 70s. This is one of her best live performace. I like the way she moves and those wonderful legs. Isn’t that one of the sexiest pair of legs you ever seen from one foxy lady?! I hope you will enjoy this clip of her singing “Proud Mary”.

Why do Pirates wear Earrings ?
2007-03-04 02:49:00
As promised, here is the article I read about pirates wearing earrings. This article was written and submitted by Lauren Kuehl of Levittown, Pennsylvania. Thanks also to Amy Kelly of Cleburne, Texas, and Douglas Watkins, Jr., of Hayward, California. I always thought pirates wore earring because of the cute babes, never knew it’s more towards improving their eyesight. Don’t know if medically proven. Anyway, if your eyesight sucks, get earrings, because now you might have a more reliable excuse. Before we start reading this article, do you think Adam Ant looks like a pirate? He was kind of trendy back in the 80s, but you would never see me looking like him, because the pirate look seems a little nutty. He had some cool songs. Check out one of his song I posted at “the article box”. Whenever I hear this song, it reminds me of “Adam the wanna be pirate punker”!Why Did Pirate s Wear Earrings ?A famous portrait of Howard Pyle's depicts the notorious Captain Kidd, clearly wearing...

Still remember those earring years
2007-03-03 17:35:00
The finest reason of being young is to have the opportunity to discover many fresh and unique fashions. When I was a young man, I was way too contemporary, and one of the most fashionable things I ever did, probably one of the stupidest or the craziest, was the moment I pierced my own ear. Yes, I did it by myself with a pine needle. If you are wondering, yes it was one hell of a painful experience. Don’t do it yourself unless you are desperate, like I was.I think the trend of men’s ear piercing started through the influence of the most influential punk rocker, Billy Idol. His songs like “Rebel Yell” and “Mony Mony” together with his musical videos played a big part in changing “how men should express and display their appearances”. He was so trendy back then during the early 80’s, and like him, I was one of those young punks, trying to make a statement about my tastes in fashion and more importantly, about myself. I feel, Billy’s songs (music) are very influentia...

Listen to Sassy Songs from the 80's
2007-03-01 01:39:00
Sassy!!The music from the 80’s is awesome. Even though the 80’s are way behind us, we still can hear those sassy tunes frequently played in clubs and radios. It also reminds me of the era where we had some fashionable clothes and hair styles. I think the 80’s played a part in the Gay-man/woman’s revolution. What you think? I will tell you more about my memories in my upcoming posts which relate to this compilation. So come on, get sassy with my songs.

Hi everyone, a warm welcome and thanks for dropping by to share my memories through music, regardless if they are those heartbreaking or joyful ones. I feel there is always a song(s) to harmonise with any reminiscences. One of Nirvana's most memorable songs, “come as you are”, by the late Kurt Cobain, sounds right for this weblog. You can hear the song at the “Main Menu – Article Music ” and I will always remember this weblog through these words…“Come as you are, as you were, as I want you to be.As a friend, as a friend, as an old enemy.Take your time, hurry up, the choice is yours, don't be late.Take a rest, as a friend, as an old memoria...Memoria...Memoria...Memoria.... ”Please bear with me, as I am still working on this weblog. By the way, you can call me Ed, your disk jockey (more appropriate, blog jockey), moreover your entertainer for the next couple of hours. Don’t worry, I am not a psychiatric, and please don’t ask me to cure your brain, cause I might ma...
