Silas Maner de GEORGE ELIOT (Cap-5)
2008-04-04 01:00:00

1 de abril [From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia] April Fools' Day
2008-04-01 19:56:00

Diversifying your investments.
2007-08-08 15:45:00
I am sorry for not posting in a while. I was off to Luchnow for the last 4 days. This brings me to the topic of this post. It's common knowledge that investing in properties n real estate can earn you huge returns and thus your portfolio should include real estate investments. However, the saying that 'never put all your eggs in one basket' also applies to investing in properties. That is, you shouldn't just be investing in property in one area of the city or even one city itself (Not many can afford to invest in property in Mumbai anyway!!). If the prices for property in that area/city goes down or even increases too slowly, you are hit very badly. The reason for visiting Lucknow which you may have already guessed was of course to buy a couple of flats in the Nirala Nagar area. So, I now have investments in Vikhroli (Mumbai) and Lucknow. I won't quote the exact price here but the flats are a lot more affordable than in Mumbai and you know that the prices will double someday and...

New Mining Laws to increase India's Gold Production!
2007-08-02 21:00:00
According to reports, India's gold reserves are estimated at 14,000 tonnes but the country only produces three tonnes of its total annual demand of 800 tonnes. We import a fifth of global output to meet the shortfall. What a waste of natural resources this is! Exploration of gold and diamond deposits in India could however now get a major boost if the cabinet approves a new mining policy, which aims to cut dependence on imports. I sure hope they find time to approve such important bills. "Under the existing rules if any entrepreneur invests money and finds gold, then he must apply again for mining," said T. Subbarami Reddy, junior mines minister, at a weekend seminar. He said that under the new policy any investor who finds gold will automatically get permission to begin mining. So, let me also spell out the obvious here, Gold will an extremely good investment if the bill passes. Know this before you even begin investing.
2007-07-25 10:29:00
We know that investing in equities gives the highest returns at least in the long run. But before you cut money aside for investing based on all the hype, there are a couple of very important things to consider. Let's face it, investing in stocks is inherently risky. As they say, there's no such thing as a free lunch. So, one important thing to always keep in mind is that you must never borrow to invest in stocks. If you make the wrong call and invest it in the wrong shares, your principle may be down the gutter and the interest meter on your money would start ticking. A very simple difference between savings and debt is that while one saves to consume at a later date say after retirement, one consumes now in hopes that one will be able to pay back later with his/her savings or if lucky surplus in future. So, savings and borrowing never exist together. Ideally one should repay all debts and then invest any surplus in equities. But there are a couple of things to consider even afte...

5 money-saving tips
2007-07-22 11:39:00
It is important to save money for a rainy day, everyone knows this more or less right? but are you always able to avoid wasting money and save it? the answer probably might be a no. If so, keep reading. First, realize that by simply not wasting money, you will end up saving a lot and the first step in not wasting money is to be consciously aware of the money you are spending. Once you develop this important awareness move on to these tips :-Avoid using credit cards:- Sure, it does not pinch paying by card at least at the time of paying up but remember that you do have to pay the money back. Whenever you go shopping bring an estimate of the things you 'need' to buy and the amount of money that you are going to be spending for it. Stick to this list only and resist impulsive buys. Don't get in to the habit of spending money to have a good-time:- This may sound like an old sages' advice but it is oh-so-wise!! Maybe you don't need to go on a spending spree just to be able to rela...

And it's not any E-Book it's the famous "Principles of Marketing" by Philip Kotler. Building on the success of the first European Edition, the authors and the publishers are to be congratulated on taking the opportunity to both update material and enhance the accessibilty of the text. The new chapter on direct and online marketing is particularly welcome. You download it from this Rapidshare link. I found on the cool net.xciting blog which has a lot more free stuff you may want. Just check out archives. Enjoy!!Note that it's not hosted on my servers. I am just linking to great free stuff here and yes I don't think I am promoting piracy and don't need any un-wanted advice about such things. Thank you...

A quote that really holds true!!
2007-07-19 10:10:00
Next to inflation, majority rule is the most ingenious scheme ever contrived by government. Most people have never dared to question the basic morality or logic in the assumption that the majority should have power over the minority. A majority of the people in the South once believed in black slavery. Did that make it moral? A lynch mob is majority rule stripped of its fancy trappings and its facade of respectability. In a community where homosexuals outnumber heterosexuals, should the majority have the right to outlaw sex between married partners of the opposite sex? In a community where atheists outnumber non- atheists, should the majority have the right to outlaw the practice of religion? ... a dictatorship allows only a small number of people to interfere with the rights of others, a democracy makes it possible for great numbers of people to impose their will on others -- through the force of government. Is an act of aggression more right if carried out by the majority than by ...

4 questions to ask to not end up buying what you do not need...!
2007-07-17 22:41:00
Have you ever come across situations where friends and family close try selling you a financial product? How often do you say 'yes' for buying a product, when you should have actually, said a firm 'no'? This is a problem we all face in our life almost every second day. If you have come across it too and have suffered quite a lot but do not know how you can say no then this article's for you.Basically, you need to start with asking the person doing the selling and yourself these four questions.Do I really need the product being sold?Is the person giving me the complete information about the product s/ he is selling? There are a lot of instances where we come to know some important things about the product only after we have purchased it. Sometimes we are put in a discomfort due to this.Is the person genuine in her/ his intentions? Analyse from where s/ he is getting his revenues (Salary, Commission, etc). If there are two products which a person is selling and the commission tha...

While I myself am a great believer in insurance but I had neglected to renew the insurance on my car (Tata Indigo) and now I am paying the price for it. Day before yesterday I was returning home and I didn't notice the big-bad stone lying smack in the middle of the road because I had to pick up this call from a friend. (the authorities perhaps feel that such obstructions and open pot-holes complement beautify the Indian roads very well and hence let them be or maybe this is a covert conspiracy by the Chidambaram-n-gang to get you to invest more, maybe in unit linked policies!!!!!) I went straight over the f*****g stone and it cut the power-steering fluid cable and the A/C coolant fluid cable running below the car. The coolant also cools the engine and so is a must along with the the power steering fluid. When I tool the car to the nearest Tata service centre, I was told that the repair will only cost my Rs.2500. (If I had rammed one of the tyres in to the stone, it would have been a...

PM's panel sees economy growing at 9% WooHoo!!
2007-07-17 07:56:00
The PM's EAC or the Economic Advisory Council thinks that inflation would be contained within 4% and the economy would grow at 9%. The council added that the growth would be led led more by investment rather than by consumption. “The fundamentals of the economy are so strong that 9 per cent growth seems achievable despite the monetary measures taken by the RBI,†council member Soumitra Choudhury said.In its Economic Outlook for 2007-08 released here today, EAC Chairman C Rangarajan bet on a reasonably benign monsoon and conducive external conditions to facilitate growth of 9 per cent for the third consecutive year.On a lower forecast of inflation inflation, Rangarajan said, “The pressure from petroleum product prices have already been factored in while setting the target of 4 per cent of inflation level. If oil prices do not increase, inflation may go below 4 per cent.â€With a GDP growth rate of 8 per cent, the work force will become equal to the labour force by 2010.“A st...
