Market will open positive today - Ease concern on sub prime
2007-08-30 00:00:00
Market seems to open on a positive note taking cue from the US and the Asian market. All are up. As the US economic report ease the concern from the losses of sub prime lending issues that might slow the growth of the home loans and the largest economy as a whole. ``The market is going to be led by sentiment on the U.S. subprime situation and data confirming a stronger or weaker economic picture,'' said Jason Teh, who helps manage the equivalent of about $6.5 billion at Investors Mutual Ltd. in Sydney. ``The reassuring earnings results across the board may help combat some of the influence from the U.S.''Source: www. bloomberg.com

Slow down tension - Market up a bit
2007-08-30 00:00:00
Sensex was up 246 points as the leaders are eager to find a in between solution to keep the current govt. on the issue of Nuclear Treaty. Starting from the chief minister, foreign minister to the prime minister, everyone has taken initiative to find a solution. As everyone has some fear to loose the Chair if there is another Assembly Poll. So yesterday the market was up but in a range bound mood. No one has to do nothing with this uncertain market. Even Udayan was not sure in which was the market might turn. In the morning call in TV18 I watched that show :)

Political Tension cause the market to fall
2007-08-30 00:00:00
From the last ten days a political tension arised between the UPA govt and its major supporter CPIM on the due course of Nuclear treaty with the Bush govt. And the tension was so acute that even the withdrawal of support was thought by the CPIM leaders. Another poll was on the verge of the Indian Constitution. Market reacts quickly...a 600 and 450 consecutive fall seen in BSE. In addition mixed market results and the down US market iced on the cake. Major sell off was also seen by the FIIs from the Indian as well as from world emerging markets. But the notable thing was that the future discount is reduced which was quite high at the beginning of the month of August. The position is perhaps carrying forward or fresh buying is happening.

Slow moving of Trading Terminal expected
2007-08-30 00:00:00
It would be certainly a boring market. No one has to do nothing in this market. Especially the retail clients. Prior to the Indian Independence day, its wait and watch. Independence day is the holiday and what will happen in the US market overnight...no one knows. Moreover home sales data is about to publish there. The impact is expected to percolate through the world. And people are more concerned with the US and other markets mortgage data. Lighter position holding is expected. At the end of the day NSE turnover volume will speak the rest. Overall it will be a dull market.

Do the Broking houses provide less intraday limits?
2007-08-30 00:00:00
In this volatile and range bound market do the broking houses provide less trading limit to play for the intra day? Perhaps the answer is YES. Now the Indian stock market is quite internationally linked due to the FII factor and open market/globalisation scenario. Moreover the US market's future figures are coming live. So whenever there is some big discounts in the future, the Asian market falls along with an impact in the Europe market. And at the end of the day there might be a spillover effect here in India also. Market may fall, and clients could be defaulter or at least in a loss. So the trading limit on the margin amount might be less for this type of market.

Hedge Fund
2007-08-30 00:00:00
Hedge Fund is a pool of money, like Mutual Funds, which is invested in financial instruments to make positive return at the minimum cost and in a most risk free method. It is a private investment fund often managed to increase the value of the fund on behalf of the investment firms. As the Hedge Fund s are a private pool of managed assets, and as the government commonly restricts their public access, the hedge fund managers have no incentives to release their private information to the public. Against the managing of the fund the Private Investment managers charges a performance fee.The main objective of most hedge funds is to reduce the volatility and market risks while attempting to preserve capital and deliver positive returns whatever the market conditions.Advantages of Hedge Funds:1. Don’t have to register with the security board.2. Hedge funds are not requiring making periodic reports.

Curb on ECB and the consequent effects
2007-08-30 00:00:00
From the last couple of months the raising Rupee value was really a big concern for the exporters, IT companies and also for the Government. The revenue of the IT companies reported a declining trend in the first quarter result. Small exporters made huge loss. In addition the inflow of foreign cash flows to the economy made the inflation more worsen. The cash inflow in terms of External commercial Borrowings (ECB) did the icing on the cake. Govt. intervenes to fix two things first. 1. To control the level of rising Inflation and 2. To protect the currency for further rise so as to protect the exporters and their corresponding earnings.Reserve bank of India has announced some restrictions on the ECB's. A company can raise money from abroad, where the rate of interest is lower in comparison to the domestic borrowing market, but restricted to 20 million dollars. This restriction will reduced the inflow of dollars to the country and might help to improve the US$ vs. INR exchange rate.
