I Saved $250 Just By Asking For It?
2008-03-26 11:30:00 I got my cable bill a couple months ago, and noticed my rates were jacked up over $20 more per month. Needless to say, I was less than pleased. In my opinion, no one should have to pay over $100 per month for basic cable and cable internet! So, I did the only thing I could ...
XM and Sirius Satellite Radio Merger Approved - But It’s Not a Done Deal
2008-03-25 12:54:00 Yesterday, the Department of Justice approved the merger between XM Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio. However, this is only the first step before a merger can actually take place. It still needs to be approved by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The merger was officially proposed over a year ago, but faced several legal roadblocks - the main one being the ruling the FCC gave when they issued XM and Sirius operating licenses. It stated they were not allowed to merge due to anti-competitive reasons. However, the two companies have been losing money for years (have yet to turn a profit, actually), and proposed a merger in order for both companies to survive. They argue they are currently at the point where they need to merge or die. Is the XM-Sirius Merger Good For Consumers? Pros. It will now be possible for subscribers to get access to all the major professional and college sports packages, as well as access to the most popular DJs who are currently locked into exclusive,... Would You Like Some Life Insurance With Those Cheetos?
2008-03-24 11:29:00 I went with my wife to the grocery store yesterday, and when we made it to the checkout line, there was a large display selling financial products. I was a bit surprised to see a grocery store selling financial products. I assumed they were there from a third party and the store was paid a fee for setting up the display. But I was wrong. These products were sold by the store under their own brand. Kroger has a finance site where they sell a multitude of financial products ranging from loans (credit cards, mortgages, HELOCs), to insurance (auto, home, renters, life, identity theft, specialty, and even pet insurance), and gift cards. I took one of each of the brochures so I could read them more closely; don’t worry, I will recycle them when I am finished with them. After reading the details, it seems that most of the financial products (loans) are underwritten by divisions of Kroger, and most of the insurance is offered through a third party. My guess is that it is easier to get... More About: Life , Insurance , Life Insurance
