THE WOODEN BOWL
2007-11-08 11:24:00
I was meaning to post this but kept on putting it off until now. I first read this story last Monday, November 5 in David Jeremiah's Turning Point. Then I saw it again. It broke my heart and had tears welling up my eyes as I read on.A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and four-year old grandson. The old man?s hands trembled, his eyesight was blurred, and his step faltered. The family ate together at the table. But the elderly grandfather?s shaky hands and failing sight made eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth. The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess. ?We must do something about father,? said the son. ?I?ve had enough of his spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor.? So the husband and wife set a small table in the corner. There, Grandfather ate alone while the rest of the family enjoyed dinner. Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two, his food w...

My husband loves Air Jordans. He'd go gaga over a pair of rubber shoes like I would on sandals. Haha! You should have seen him when we were at the mall glancing over a handsome pair of Nike's. Anyway, have you ever tried online shopping? I have friends who did and so far they have good things to say about the whole process. The experience I had thus far with using my credit card was making an online donation. Well, I guess when you come and think about it, both had the same security risk. It would be best if those of us who does e-shopping often to shop only on secured websites and make sure to review their privacy and security policies before making any purchase. Now that I have Paypal, most likely I'll give e-shopping a try soon and see how it goes. Maybe I'll buy myself some... I'd let you know! =DTHIS HAS BEEN A SPONSORED POST
POT OF GOLD
2007-11-07 13:31:00
I was craving for fettuccine last night while watching HBO. Good thing Jen just lived in the other building so she cooked for me and brought me some pasta. I really admire people who can concoct a meal from whatever they have in their cupboard. I always wonder how on earth do they do that?An hour or so after feasting upon my pasta, Jen and I talked about her concerns in life. I was kinda surprised of myself when I started giving her advices. I can sense some maturity in me already which I knew never existed before. I shared with her a part of a preaching I've heard that morning. It was said that wherever we are now, even if we don't understand why we're going through whatever it is we're going through now is essential to where God wants to place us. We can be sure though that God only wants the best for us. If we want our pot of gold, then this is the route we ought to take. Along the way there would be lots of pruning. I remember the verse in Matthew 7:13-14 which s...

GOD, I CHOSE YOU
2007-11-07 11:57:00
I have been praying for some things and believing God for a breakthrough, but not everyone around me is supportive. Some would just blurt out unkind remarks inconsiderably. The thing is, I'm not even asking or am I interested in their opinions. But just the same, these people just had to put their two cents in. It's so easy to get disappointed when you absorb all the world has to offer. I've learned that I don't need to accept everything that I hear because if I do, I'd be so depressed. God already gave me His Word regarding the very thing I'm believing for. But that doesn't mean that I'll be spared from all negativity around me. Negativity is here to stay but it's up to me if I'd take it in and permit it to screw my life or I'd reject it the moment it presents itself. The choice is mine. There are two standards in this world that we can choose to side with - the world's or God's. I chose the latter which sadly is the least popular. But this I believe is the only one tha...

If blogging about places could really take me there, it'll be so much fun. But hey, I can always use my imagination for now, right? So, from Spain, we now go to France!!! Bonjour! Wow! The Paris Fashion Week! They already have the Spring 2008 Runway Fashion Collection. Have you seen them? I'd love to have my picture taken at the Eiffel Tower (inset photo). We can't possibly missed out having a taste of their exquisite wines which they're famous for. It'll be nice to have a glass of Vins de Pays De L'hérault with my favorite Chinese dish. Don't forget Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa which is housed in the famous Louvre in Paris. They have here so many hotels to choose from too. Try hotels in France. Nice hotels like the Ambassador Hotel. You can also try hotels in Paris like the Hotel Alane.Beautiful country too, huh?*Snap* Oh! Got to go back to work now. Till our next trip! =D

I Signed Up For PPP
2007-11-06 07:17:00
I have long wanted to join PayPerPost but I couldn't because of the limited features offered by PayPal in some countries like ours. But thank God they finally opened up to us last September 30. When I did sign up for PPP a month ago, I thought my blog wasn't approved because it was just today that I got an email from them. But yey, I did!Paid blogging came to mind only recently when I've noticed some of my blogger friends were also into this. I was thinking of other ways to earn, aside from having a regular job, and so paid blogging caught my attention. I asked two of my blogging buddies, Drea and Tiny, who they considered reliable paid blogging companies and they gave me a few names, of course PPP was one of them. Thanks to Jean and Ester who left me a message on my blog informing me about the wonderful development from PayPal. Once I confirmed it, I immediately signed up for PPP! I was so excited because finally I had the chance to join in. I thought to myself that this could a...

Scents N Candles
2007-11-06 07:07:00
Everybody who's close to me knows that I don't want to go back to school anymore to have an additional degree. Not that I don't want to learn anything new, of course I still do! But I guess not in a school setting. After my friends and I graduated from college, they were very enthusiastic on getting an MBA. On the contrary, I wasn't a bit interested in joining them. You see, after our graduation ceremony, I was so happy I was even humming, "no more teachers, no more books..." I was just overjoyed that finally I was done with school! Yay!!!I love to learn new things, don't get me wrong, but more on things I can use for business. Things that stir up my interest. Things like foreign language studies, making herbal soaps, soy candles and the like. Private labeled soy candles make wonderful give-aways, by the way, for weddings, baby showers or for companies on Christmas. They are made with the natural oil from soy bean plants so they burn cleaner and emit significantly less...

Too Sexy For My Hair?
2007-11-06 07:07:00
Oh my gosh! I'm still in a state of panic! I was in front of the mirror combing my hair and I noticed how thin my hair is now. I can't believe it! I tried everything from changing my hair brush to a comb, from changing brands of shampoo and conditioner - I've tried all kinds of brands that has "hair fall control" in it. I've altered my diet a bit - no junk food, lots of water, milk and only FRESH fruit juice drinks. I tried to sleep at least eight hours a day - I'm not always successful though. And last but not the least I get a hair spa once a month for scalp massage. What else am I suppose to do to stop my hair from falling? Then I also thought of resorting to wigs when it gets worse or maybe an invisible hair extension? I've heard how complex this procedure is but as they say, desperate times call for desperate measures unless of course I've already settled within myself to go bald which I haven't! Anyway, I came across this natural hair loss treatment while surfing ...

Till The End Of Time
2007-11-06 06:45:00
It's almost December, my favorite month of the year. Aside from the fact that it's Christmas time, it's also the month hubby and I celebrate our wedding anniversary. When I think about our wedding day, it doesn't feel like we've already been married for five years. It's as if we've just been married yesterday. Although we're going through some rough roads, it's not always going to be that way. There's always a rainbow after the rain. Weddings have always been one of my favorites. I love attending to details. I made sure everything was in order for our wedding, well at least I tried. With some help from my closest friends, they managed to keep me grounded to reality and from going insane from trying to make everything PERFECT. I loved looking for some unique wedding accessories I could wear for our special day. I was excited about the photo and video, my gown, our reception... But of course, I didn't have everything I wanted because we were on a budget. That was five years...

Mint, Anyone?
2007-11-06 06:45:00
I have like six different credit cards that are all active today. Four of them I'm trying my best to zero out my balance. Two of them I'm done with paying. Yay! I've decided not to use those two until I'm done paying with at least two more of my credit cards. Out of those six cards that I have, I like two of them the best because they give me the best options so far in paying my balance faster with a fairly good interest rate. Credit cards are good to have around only if you can control yourself from using it abusively. And it is best to know everything the credit card company has to offer you. I especially like those that offer no interest on balance transfers and has low rates. I read about Mint credit card's features and benefits and they're interesting. Imagine, 0% on balance transfers until 1 December 2008 (2.5% balance transfer fee), 0% on purchases until 1 May 2008, 0% bonus offer until 1 August 2009 on balances transferred during February 2009 (2.5% fee) and no annual ...
Strolling Down Memory Lane
2007-11-06 06:45:00
I used to spend a few weeks in my aunt's house together with my cousins during summer vacation. Inside the music room just beside their huge cozy living room, we'd play the piano, watch television, play video games or even take a nap in the afternoon. It's actually our favorite spot inside the house. In front of it, beside the staircase, was a mini bar. I didn't know it was a mini bar back then. All I knew was we'd go there to get some chocolates and chilled juice drinks. I remembered seeing a hanging wine glass rack and wondered why they're stored that way. There's also this interesting looking criss-crossed wine rack. I was curious why they put bottles in each hole instead of putting them inside the mini fridge just below it . I didn't know those were wine bottles. I never really asked. Of course now I know better.Outside the house, in the garden, lies a Nipa hut where we'd play house. Sometimes we'd go to the park for a walk or we'd go biking and come home ...

Me, A Pack Rat?
2007-11-06 06:43:00
After I got married, I moved almost all my stuff to our new home. It wasn't much though because I left the rest at my mom's house. My mom used to tell me to throw away the stuff that I think I wouldn't be needing anymore. Well, that's the whole point, I mean, I still need them. They're valuable to me - letters, cards, pictures... stuff. And I got tons of them. My mom thinks I'm a pack rat. My stuff I left in my mom's house were neatly packed and they're not lying around the house in a mess. Well, they take up a little space though which I think was the reason my mom's annoyed. Haha! Anyway, I wish we had what they call garage cabinets like what I see on TV. They're definitely a neat idea for storage. Unfortunately, we don't have that. So stuff like mine sits on one corner of the house eating up space and my mom didn't like any more extra cabinets around the house. Oh boy...

DON'T LET THE ENEMY STEAL YOUR JOY
2007-11-05 10:08:00
Do you have joy in your heart? You see, with all the things that's happening in my life right now, God gave me joy in my heart. I heard this small voice that said "trust me" while I was still in bed one morning and was crying my heart out to the Lord. The words that were spoken to my heart were so clear. I knew it was from the Lord. It gave me great comfort to know that He hasn't forgotten me yet.I used to fear laughing out loud, you know, being really happy, because I believed then that if I laugh so hard or if I'm too happy, I'd be crying later on. And I don't want that. The enemy made me believe this lie for years. I've learned that it is God's will for me to be happy, to live a victorious life. God wanted me to enjoy my season. But of course, the enemy didn't want any of that. He wanted to make sure he steals my joy. You know, he almost did. Yesterday I was on the phone with my friend Paz. I was telling her how tired I was with life. I started questioning ...

Party Pop
2007-11-03 15:23:00
I thought of all the parties I've attended in the last five years especially those of my friends' kiddos. They were all great in their own way. They had all sorts of party gimmicks much to the the delight of the kids and the parents too! There's the old fashion cotton candy machine or an ice cream stand or sometimes a bubble machine. There would also be clowns and lots of games and prices. And how about adding a popcorn machine to the fun? Wouldn't that be great?

No Pain No Gain
2007-11-03 15:22:00
Back in my high school days, I've always been referred to as the cute, white, skinny girl. I was even called Casper at one point. Haha! But ever since I can remember, I was always the skinny one in the family and in school. My mom would let me gobble different kinds of vitamins so that I'd have better appetite according to her. It was probably frustrating for my mom because I never really gained weight, and for me too because I had to take them even if I hated the way they all tasted! Would you believe that my heaviest back then was only 90 lbs.? As I got older, I noticed how easily I can put on weight and how doubly easy for me to lose them when I decided to. My friends would always ask me how I manage to maintain my svelte figure. Honestly? I don't know. I just eat and eat whatever I feel like eating and when I see that I've gone a little too far, I would just eat less to shed those extra pounds. Oh, don't envy me. I had problems with gaining weight as a kid remember? That ex...

A Pocket Of Knowledge
2007-11-03 15:22:00
In one of my previous posts, I wrote about an experience I had with real estate. I had little training on Philippine real estate, Queensland real estate and Phoenix real estate to name a few through Century 21. There were so many things to learn to be a licensed real estate agent which I didn't pursue. It's just not my cup of tea. I didn't take them seriously but I'm glad I took those seminars because at least I won't be a dumbo in this area.

Daydreaming...
2007-11-03 15:21:00
As I lie on our bed watching television, my mind goes off somewhere in neverland. I looked out the terrace and saw how beautiful the day was. I said my prayer and read my Bible. I stayed there for a while flipping the channels and my mind went off thinking about LCD's and plasma tv's. I imagined how perfectly either one will be in front of our bed. Wow! It'll really look good mounted on the wall maybe using a plasma lift or something, anything to put it in place securely. Well, I was just imagining it. I got up the bed and went on to prepare some breakfast. Good morning everyone!

Coincidence?
2007-11-03 15:18:00
My goddaughter, Jane, told me this morning that she had a weird dream last night about camping out in the woods with her friends. They were setting up a canvas tent with the help of some older boys and they also made s'mores by the camp fire. She also said that it could have been a nice dream, if only the tent didn't fall flat on her face. She woke up bewildered. After a while, she got a phone call from her friends asking her to go with them on a camping trip next weekend. Coin cidence ?
Stop, Look And Learn
2007-11-03 15:16:00
I'd been tutoring English as a sideline for a few months for two hours everyday after work. This has helped me a great deal financially and I'm truly grateful. Lately, my tutee has been really busy with his business and so am I with work and some other stuff. We still meet once in a while although not as often as we used to anymore. Before I got into teaching again, my friend Paz introduced me to online tutoring. She has been into this, teaching Koreans the English language for years now. I was all for it except for the schedule so I didn't pursue it.Tutoring is not new to me. Back in college, a neighbor asked me to tutor her younger sister and she said she'd pay me monthly. Not bad I thought. I taught English, Science and Math like basic Algebra and Accounting. It's more like a homework help sort of thing.Come to think of it, tutoring requires a lot of patience and patience is something God's been dealing with me. Isn't it ironic? =D

Hola! Buenos dias! From the Land Down Under - Australia, we now go to the beautiful country of Spain!I love the Spanish language. Ours here in the Philippines - Filipino, mostly, came from Spanish words. One of my favorite places here which is Intramuros, where hubby and I got married, was built by the Spaniards in the 16th century. This is why anything Spanish is close to a lot of people in my country. They have been here for more than 300 years. There are so many hotels in Spain that you can lodge in and are fairly priced if you decide to visit this beautiful country. You can choose from hotels in Barcelona and visit Sagrada Familia, La Boqueira or the Gothic Quarter to name a few. Or you can choose from hotels in Madrid and drop by the Prado Museum, the Royal Palace (inset photo) or their lovely Botanical Gardens. Véale allí!

THINGS TO DO...
2007-10-31 08:42:00
We have a long weekend starting tomorrow. Some would be going out of town, but I'm staying home! So if that's the case, I need to make a list of things to do and make myself a little busy this weekend or I'll go crazy with boredom.Let's see, I'll wake up at 10 a.m., I'll clean our unit, watch DVDs, have longer quiet time (Oh, God! I need to talk to You about something I did... again!) and yeah, it's Job's birthday tomorrow - Paz's youngest son. What else... Hmm... Hey, that list is just for tomorrow. How about Friday, Saturday and Sunday?Oh man! this is really gonna be a looooong weekend... =(

CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT EXCHANGE
2007-10-28 14:09:00
I joined the 2007 Christmas Ornament Exchange hosted by Kathleen over at The Open Window. This, I think, is one way to strengthen the friendship between bloggers and to know each other more which is wonderful, don't you think? I'm really excited to be part of this for the first time this year. To all bloggers out there, come join the fun! I'm sure it'll be one great experience for all of us. Here are the rules:1. The drawing for names will be on the 16th of November. This gives you plenty of time to find or make that perfect ornament. Kathleen will be making a list and each person will be given a number. She will then use Random.org to see who gets who. Once she knows she will email you the name and addy of the person you have.2. An ornament can hang on a tree or be a decoration on a fireplace, mantle, or a figurine to decorate the lawn. It's your call. If you want to play Santa and include other little goodies as well, that is also your call ?3. Once the drawing has been compl...

ENJOY YOUR SEASON
2007-10-27 13:04:00
I often hear this phrase - Enjoy your season. I received this same message not just once but countless times from a very close friend of mine. I didn't understand what she meant by it, but I prayed about it and somehow God revealed to me what it meant to enjoy my season. Often times I would stomp my feet out of frustration and blurt out, "I'm tired of waiting! Why are you doing this to me, God?!" Then I would cry buckets. After bawling like crazy, my problems were still there. It didn't go away. Same old frustration would present itself to my face.We have God's promise and we recieved it with open arms, with praises on our lips. After that we wait. Now that's the hard part, right? It is! But we are sure that His promise will come to pass and we can trust God for it. And before we get to our promised land, how do we wait? Do we wait impatiently and miserably or do we wait joyfully? Now that is up to us.To enjoy our season is to enjoy the journey He prepared for us to get to our ...
