Ham radio operators have fun, help keep communities safe
2007-11-18 14:38:00 Recently I read a article that really reflect our position as Ham Radio operators that could benefit our self and to our society and community.Fort Atkinson — No electricity? You still have options. No electricity and no phone line? Well, there’s still ham radio.More overHam radios aren’t dependent on commercial electrical power or telephone services. They can be operated on batteries and generators. Whether ham operators prefer communicating in Morse code on old brass telegraph keys, talking on hand-held radios or sending computerized messages via satellite, they all share an interest in global happenings and reaching out to help others in times of need, Rybicke said.Very well said there! when there is no electricity, Ham radio come alive.Enjoy the article HERE More About: Operators , Safe , Communities , Unit

Would you go Satellite communication?
2007-10-21 09:49:00 Now that, our astronaut is back to earth, there ain't no more 9W2MUS in Space to communicate. Since our astronaut in ISS, and we heard that he will contact with students using amateur radio and there on every Malaysian ham radio operator hording to the band with all their set, antenna and etc available to get a chance of hearing the voice on the band, and some step beyond to transmit using downlink frequency from ISS - that which I don't know why? They don't do it in local Repeater! Why ISS frequency then?Anyway, the Astronaut QSO become the talk over the repeater, "Hey tonight 9W2MUS will qso at this time and this date and which frequency" and so on, thus some how or some where inspire some one to go beyond of their daily repeater QSO towards space communication monitoring and accessing it. Good publicity to promote Satellite and Space communication.I have made several QSO via satellite before our Astronaut into Space. Very Interesting! I have yet to QSO with NA1SS. I did more t... 9W2MUS 4th QSO with Malaysian Students
2007-10-18 18:12:00 4th batch of students again in front of mic asking questions to our Mala ysian 1st Astronaut Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, 9W2MUS.AOS: 15:41 UTC, 323.6° North LOS: 15:51 UTC, 145.3° SouthNA1SS Signal 5,9Downlink Freq: 145.800 (Mode: FM)I still and still use my double 5/8 omni-directional antenna as receiving. With height of 25feet from ground. Here is what I able to copied and recorded during the pass.I unable to copy 9M2RPN signal, but If you hear the answer from 9W2MUS, you able to guess what question students ask for this pass. Before he sign off from the band, this what he said"Do take ham amateur Radio, is very fun and is very exciting you can communicate with astronaut on space, and go take the exam, is very easy....." Well to those who will be sitting this coming November 2007 Radio Amateur Examination,Good Luck! and Study hard! Is very exciting, healthy Hobby!Enjoy it!73 More About: Students , Malays
How many contacts our Astronaut will make?
2007-10-18 13:00:00 There is poll on at ISS Fan Club website, the question is "How Many Random contacts do you think the Malaysian Astronaut will make?" - Click HERE I Voted "NONE"! Why? Example: yesterday at UTC 15:23 (17/10/2007), there is no school contact conducted at 9M2RPN and I take this opportunity to access NA1SS! CQ call and no response. That's is why I voted for "NONE" For this pass the elevation is about 15degree, I'm using YAGI beaming towards ISS, plus further to get more chances of getting downlink signal, I have another rig connected with omni-directional antenna as receiver. Yet no voice being heard from space! ISS occupants making less contact compare to pervious expedition some of the Crew Ham Operator active in DXCC getting more countries into their log at space and ham operator on ground happy to have NA1SS call in log too. Now I guess crew enjoy more in School Contact then individual DXCC! What do you think? More About: Make , Contacts

9W2MUS 2nd QSO with Malaysian Students
More articles from this author:2007-10-15 18:28:00 2nd attempt of getting signal from ISS achieve with little disappointment for me.AOS start from: 16:06 UTC, NorthLOS at: 16:17 UTC, EastNA1SS, Signal: 5,9Downlink Freq: 145.800 (Mode: FM)2nd batch of student, apparently wanted to have QSO with 9W2MUS this early morning, but with QRM from others station who love to break in to get a chance of contact has making this event a disappointment for students who stay up to midnight to get a chance of contact with our Mala ysian 1st Astronaut. Here is the recording of 2nd batch Malays ia Students Contact with ISSLess than 10 student able to have contact with our Astronaut compare to the 1st batch where utilization of the time and none QRM from other station interfere the QSO.I hope tomorrow there would be no QRM from other station. Giving more opportunity to students a chance of their life time to ask our astronaut and experience of what Ham Radio is.73 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 |
