USA vs. Canada: Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, & PS3
2007-11-24 23:46:00
I want, wait no, I need to put an end to all of these cross-border shopping maniacs claiming everything is 'SO much cheaper!' As much as I'm interested in spending money so that I feel good about saving money, I'm not really sure I would be saving money at all given the 2 hour drive (not including a 2 hour border wait), duties paid (I am an honest tax payer after all), and that sneaky 2% charged when I convert funds from loonies to greenbacks at either a bank or directly on my credit card. read more

Get rich from using the TTC in Toronto
2007-11-24 21:44:00
I love the TTC. That's right, I love the Toronto Transit Commission. Even on days when I'm stuck in between stops underground because of delays at 'whatever station' or when I conveniently get that seat next to the smelly guy who is asleep on my shoulder drooling, I can still still say that taking the TTC was a good call. After all, the TTC is making me rich! read more

The high price for your cup of joe
2007-11-17 22:08:00
The problem with drinking coffee every morning is not that your breath stinks afterwards or that your teeth will turn yellow over time. The real problem is that your morning coffee is making you go broke. That applies to you too orange-juice drinkers, tea sippers, hot chocolate gulpers, and smoothie swiggers. But that's not possible! I mean, it's only a coffee and bagel, right? Wrong! Taking a trip to your local Tim Hortons every weekday morning will set you back an ugly $780 annually. That's right, a simple buck-fifty for a coffee and bagel each every morning is making you broke. What's that you say? You prefer the finer things in life like biscotti and a caffe machiatto? Well I hope you live with your rich uncle, 'cause otherwise you're headed to the poor house at a cool $1560 annually. That's enough guilt-tripping for now, so how can we solve your caffeine-addiction? Have you considered going cold trurkey and not drinking coffee at all? OK, sorry for mentioning it. That's...

Save big money by using free computer software
2007-11-12 04:24:00
No, I'm not suggesting you pirate software. Instead, why don't you try using an open source copy of your favourite software program instead? When software is referred to as "open source", it means it is free for anybody to use, copy or distribute. Open source software is usually created by a large community of people from all over the world. The goal of this community is to produce a high quality product to meet their needs - not profit. Therefore, open source software is free to use. read more

Therefore, open source software is free to use. Just because the software is free doesn't mean it is inferior though: many of the largest websites on the Internet operate on open source software. You've probably never heard of open source software - that's because they usually don't have marketing budgets to publicize their existence. So I've taken the liberty of compiling this list of commercial software and their open source equivalent. It costs nothing to try open source software, so don't be scared to download any of the software packag...

You can instantly save 5-25% off many purchases by just doing a Google search for the words "storename + coupons", or "storename + discounts" before clicking the checkout button. Make sure to limit your search to Canada only, as while there are many coupon websites for Americans, very few of the discounts transfer north of the border. Hello & welcome to Stinking Rich Canadian .ca! What's this blog about? The purpose of this blog is to help fellow Canadians become stinking rich. Why Stinking Rich Canadian? There were a number of reasons why we choose the name StinkingRichCanadian.ca. First off, we felt it is important to identify ourselves as Canadian, as this blog is specifically for other people from Canada. Secondly, we didn't want to support domain squatters, and therefore wanted to use a domain name which hadn't been registered yet. Finally, why aim to become just rich when you could become stinking rich? Who are "we"? We refers to Josh (me) & friends - Josh being the head writer and moderator of StinkingRichCanadian.ca, and others being, well, all other contributors. Are all the contributors stinking rich Canadians? Well, that all depends on how you define "stinking rich"... :) In an effort to always provide the highest quality content possible for this blog, we will not prevent someone from contri...
