keeping myself busy.

the lobby has really hit a low this past few days. the number of lounge lizards hanging out in the soft seats could be counted in one hand. last night, I hung out at the lobby with the guru, and harrison ford. that was it.I did my rendition of bashing president bush in a debate with the guru. other than that, we pretty much just twiddled our thumbs. the talent was pitiful.brian piccolo, zorba the greek, dutch callahan, and timberwolf made cameo appearances.earlier in the night, I met up with harrison ford and the watcher for dinner at the sizzler. the watcher lended me some of his dvds to view over the songkran holiday. april 12-15.da brain left. he should be back in the states by now. the same with duece bigalow.received emails from the sarge.if I wasn't at the lobby, I kept myself busy updating my new notebook with all the windows updates. it took me over 2 hours to update my notebook with all the windows updates. you can imagine how seriously I went about backing up m...

was going to go out and shop around for provisions. but as it turned out, I ended up staying home all day. what the hell, I thought. I still have 2 days to go before songkran. so, there is still time.since many lounge lizards were going home soon, I thought about planning a going away dinner for everybody. but when I sent the text messages out, nobody replied except for harrison ford. so, it will be harrison and I doing the sizzler tomorrow.oh. another lounge lizard, hawaiian bob, did do the courtesy to reply, and said he was reserving tomorrow for his honey. makes sense.in about 20 minutes, 10pm to be precise, duece bigalow plane should be taking off back to new york.the lobby will probably be very quiet tonight.as for me, I am going back to playing my supreme commander and then, calling it a day.

moo ka-tat, moo ka-tat, moo ka-tat. the only people visiting from out of town at the moment seem to be dirk bonapare, randolph scott, brian piccolo, da brain, duece bigalow, and crusher gomez. that's it. I guess april is not a good month for visitors.of course, all the lounge lizards who live here are still here including myself, hawaiian bob, hawaiian bill, mike jagger, the watcher, timberwolf, dutch callahan, zorba the greek, bronson, general patton, and myoung-ho.in a few days, all the visitors will be leaving town for other pastures.yes, last night was a slow night.oh. almost forgot, jacques cousteau just arrived. how could I forget that???as for today, woke up at 4pm. took my merry time getting out of bed. da brain called me up. he was in pattaya today. just got back about an hour ago. asked if I would like to join him for another "moo ka-tat". what do you think my reply was?anyway, it is about 7:30pm right now. ..talk about slipping.crusher gomez invited me over for lunch at the great american ribs restaurant over on sukhumvit soi 36, and I missed out. yeah. sunday started out with my maid coming in at around 9am to clean up my place. I pay her about 200 baht to come over every sunday to clean up my small apartment. and like clockwork, she is here at 9am cleaning away. during the approximately 2 hours that she spends cleaning, I keep myself busy playing computer games, and surfing the web.after pond left, I went back to sleep for perhaps 2 hours. da brain called to invite me to eat a late lunch at ramen tei. in my opinion, this is the best ramen in bangkok. there are 4 branches in town. we met at 1:30pm. da brain brought along his friend - beautiful.http://www.eguide.co.th/company -97249-ramenteirestaurant-Thailand,Asia.h tmlafter lunch, da brain had to meet up with somebody. so, we parted. the temperature outside is what is the norm for this time of year - HOT. the last couple of days I haven't had the desire to do much. and after thinking about it, I think it is because of the heat. ugh!da brain called me up early in the day, and we met over at the bug and bee for an hour or so. he showed me this new internet browser named maxthon.http://www.maxthon.com/index.htmm ade by some chinese company. the first thing I noticed while looking at it is - it has a built-in screen capture utility. will I use it, you ask? well, someday maybe. but not now. my experience with new things is - they usually have bugs. it was going to be another lazy day at home doing nothing. da brain called me up around 3pm thereabouts. invited me to dinner somewhere. but I was still somewhat sleepy, and declined the offer to meet. I went back to sleep with only the desire to curl up in bed hugging a pillow.around 4:30pm, harrison ford surprises me with a call. dinner at the food courts over at the emporium mall. feeling better, I decide to meet up with harrison. it took me like an hour to clean myself up. but I make it to the mall at the appointed time - 7pm. haven't been to this mall in a long time. at least a year. many changes. I get this feeling I am surrounded by yuppies. the food courts which used to cater to your average thai have all been remodeled. the chefs at all the food stalls look like culinary chefs dressed in white with white chef hats even. the prices of the food even reflect the upgrade in appearances. my khao mun gai rice plate costs me 50 baht. at any other food court at mo...

yesterday, I didn't do anything. just stayed home and vegetated. didn't feel like doing anything. had thought about going to pantip, and doing some window shopping. but the afternoon came and went so fast, the place was closed by the time I was ready to go. same thing happened when I thought about going to the lobby. zoom, zoom, zoom. and then, it was 2am.here it is, it is already noon the next day. wonder what I should do today?zoom, zoom, zoom.

I've been waking up at odd times of the day lately. I usually go to sleep at around 4am or 5am. but I wake up at around 7am or 8am. stay up for an hour. and then go back to sleep until about 3pm. am not sure if it is normal. but it is my routine now - for close to 4 months.maybe I should get a new girlfriend?yesterday started out at around 3pm. da brain called me asking if I would like to go to the fish head restaurant. and of course, I replied, "sure, why not?". the meeting time was set for 6pm. played computer games for about an hour. then, cleaned up, and left my apartment to take the skytrain over to the meeting place. got to fish head's at around 6:15pm, and sat ourselves down for a meal. we had a steamed fish, some crab cakes, a dish of morning glory, a seafood plate, a tofu soup, and rice all around. we ate until our stomachs were full. ahhhh.to top it off.. da brain paid the bill. what a guy.afterwards, da brain dropped me off at the nearest skytrain statio...

yesterday errol flynn and dennis the menace went home. but in their place the mighty thor came into town. I heard in the grapevine that kilroy the stud, and keannu reeves are leaving today. the silver surfer is leaving tomorrow. mike jagger is back in town from hanging out in pattaya for a week. harrison ford should be arriving into bangkok from pattaya.another slow day for this lounge lizard.the highlight of the day was when da brain and I went to the shabushi restaurant over at the central world mall for dinner. after dinner, we did some window shopping for furniture. had a cup of coffee at starbucks. then, took the skytrain to the loooobby. at the lobby, we met some new guy from singapore. he says he sees me all the time there. but for the life of me, I don't ever recall seeing him around. if I see him again, I'll knight him a lounge lizard, and give him an alias. da brain spoke to this guy for about 2 hours. the next thing we knew it was midnight. re-evaluating the big T.

nothing much to report. woke up late. around 3pm. called da brain to see how he was doing. decided to meet up at the big T at around 9pm. for about 5 hours, I played computer games, watched tv, and surfed the net.at 8:45pm, I was at the big T. da brain was early. we ate chicken wings and chicken fried rice. the big T was sort of slow. more people than usual at this time of the day. somchai tells me that the midnight closing hour is going to be permanent. ugh!we left the big T at around 10pm. went to the beer garden hoping to hang out there. but was surprised at the crowd. no seats. so, we went to the starbucks next door. drank a coffee. and then, went to the parking lot to see how the scene was there. hmmmm?.... it appears that the scene has relaxed a little.hung out at the parking lot until 2am thereabouts and went home. ended up playing supreme commander until about 5am before going to sleep.

didn't do much yesterday. pretty much spent most of the day doing research on my upcoming trip to china.the only time I got out was to meet up with da brain for lunch at pantip plaza. after lunch, we walked around looking at the latest offerings at pantip. from pantip, we went to the bug and bee restaurant to shoot the breeze a little.around 5pm, we parted, and I went to fortune town to check up on the repair status of my lcd monitor. had dinner at mcdonalds. than, took a bus to get home.da brain and I had thoughts of maybe going over and hang out at the big T later in the night. but I felt tired at the witching hour, and decided to check in early.received email from the sarge and one from my buddy in hong kong, the fist. fist tells me that, in his humble opinion, the best place to live in china is near the hong kong, china border. so, I am currently focusing much of my research on the internet in that area.starting next year, there is a good possibility that I will be alloca...

I call it the thai bbq all-you-can-eat buffet on my blog. great fun if you really want to literally eat until you cannot eat anymore.last night, I got together with some lounge lizards and we ate and ate and ate. FUN! some of the things on the menu include baked fish, pork chops, dim sum, shrimps, fish balls, vegies, fruits, etc.the occasion - one of the guys is leaving soon.anyway, we started eating at around 6pm, and finished at around 8pm. I found something out about the thai retirement visa today.for those of you who are not familiar with the visa, you need to be at least 50 years of age to qualify. and you must show either 800,000 baht in a bank account here, OR proof that you are receiving at least 65,000 baht a month from some source.once you can satisfy the age and income requirements, you can get a retirement visa.the only other requirement that one must adhere to once they get the retirement visa is - you need to report to thai immigration every 90 consecutive days you are in thailand.so what happens if you leave the country temporarily, you ask?the 90 consecutive days reporting starts up again on the day you return into thailand.example, I came back from a trip to the philippines recently. the exact arrival date was like feb.12. 90 days from feb.12 is may 11. may 11 is when I have to go to the thai immigration to do the 90 days report.changing the subject...after returning from thai immigration this morning...

yesterday started out slowly. ..stayed home, played computer games, surfed the net and watch tv until about 7pm. then, I got out of bed and went to meet up with da brain for dinner at limoncello over on sukhumvit soi 11. we went there once before for italian food about a year ago if I recall. it's amazing what happens in a year. this place went from a 50 seat restaurant to maybe triple that now. the pizza was great. reminds me of north beach pizza in san francisco except the pizza crust is thin here.after dinner, we went to the loooobby to hang out. da brain only stayed for maybe 30 minutes and then he went home with a friend.I stayed on, and had a great time shooting the breeze with a number of lounge lizards. first, the silver surfer, and kilroy the stud. followed by errol flynn and dennis the menace. then, the watcher and mike jagger. much later, hawaiian bill, and hawaiian ben. and at the end of the night, I chatted with keannu reaves a little.talk, talk, talk...confirmed going...

in the lobby, the main topic of the night was the current developments in the usa. many of us are worried what the near future holds for us. and we pretty much showed this worry in our discussions. personally, I am making contingency plans for various scenarios that I might encounter with all the changes happening all over the world. right now, I think everything is still ok. but you really just can't expect that to continue with the way things are going.keeping my fingers crossed...earlier in the day yesterday, I went to fortune town with my non-working lcd monitor. instead of pantip plaza, I decided to go to the acer service center at fortune town.after dropping off my monitor for warrantee work, I spent some time window shopping in the IT section of the mall. then, went to the lotus department store to buy some groceries. ate lunch at the food court at fortune town.got back home at around 5pm. as soon as I got home, received a phone call from da brain. dinner at this ne...

a day of surprises..

the day started around 10am when dennis the menace sent me a text message inviting me to eat at shabusushi restaurant over at central world. wow. this would be the first time that I have seen the bay area boys since they arrived here a week ago.errol flynn, dennis the menace, x-man, and I met at shabusushi at around 1:30pm. and we had a great time eating. during the meal, db cooper spied us eating. he was with the lone ranger. we finished the feast at around 3pm. from the buffet, we all went to get foot massages at 99 massage over in the pratunam district of bangkok. 139 baht for a hour foot massage. you can't beat the price around this area.afterwards, we parted, and I started walking home. guess who surprised me as I was walking home? hawaiian bill. we chatted a little. I went to his apartment to retrieve some tools I lended him. I then continued back to my apartment. got back around 5:30pm. my maid woke me up with a knock on the door at around 9am. with my hair in a mess, I opened the door to allow her in to clean up my small place. she left at around 11am. where then, I went back to sleep. at precisely 1:30pm, da brain calls me up. we decide to meet up for a late lunch at sizzler. at 3pm, we engage at sizzler and eat until we are so full that we become sleepy. hoping to wake up from the buffet, we wobble over to coffee world across the street, and waste an hour sipping on caffe mochas. around 4:30pm, we part. I take the underground at silom MTR and go to fortune town out in rachada. spend like 2 hours window shopping. looking for a cable to connect my pc to the tv. located the acer service center at fortune town. when my feet start to hurt, I decide to get some groceries at the connecting lotus store before boarding a bus back home. bought a roast chicken and some yakisoba noodles. boarded a 73 bus, to go home. traffic was light. so, it only took like 20...

I really got on duece bigalow tonight. normally I'm your normal mild mannered clark kent type. but tonight, I became somewhat of a redneck and got on duece bigalow a little.duece, if you are reading this, sorry.so what happened to get me in this unusual disposition, you ask?..there is some sort of crackdown currently going on in bangkok. normally, places were closing around 2am or 3am. now, many places are closing at midnight. not wanting to give everybody a negative feeling of what happened, I won't get into details. let's just say I was human for a moment.anyway, so what happened tonight?not much. besides shooting the breeze with duece bigalow, I chatted with the silver surfer, dutch callahan, craig constantine, general patton, and chip.the frequent police crackdowns are starting to depress the night scene here. if the purpose of the crackdowns are to get rid of tourist, I think the authorities here may get their wish.da brain is back in town from a short visit to issan....

lately, I have been getting really lazy. tonight, I was going to go to the lobby, but for some reason I got caught up with surfing the net, and watching tv. I guess I felt too comfortable to get up.anyway, so here I am. it's about 1am. and I really have no desires except to lay in bed and stare at the ceiling.could it be? I informed them that I will be in the looobby tonight. but it seems they might not be able to join up with me tonight for a chat. oh well, guess it'll have to be another day.today was another day of just relaxing at home, watching tv, and surfing the net. I played some supreme commander. but after 10 hours of it in the last few days, I decided to take a little break. even a hardcore gamer like me can get tired of a good thing.tonight it will be the looobby. something different to change the pace of life.

had lunch with clint eastwood and his family yesterday. went to this all-you-can-eat buffet. saw the little one. she was big. when I asked clint how big she was at birth, he replied quote, "over 10 lbs". BIG.her name, you ask? ..big eyes betty.big eyes betty was one cute baby. she stared at me with these big brown eyes. and had this big smile when she looked at me. ..now, let's see how she is in the laughing department. time will tell.clint is in bangkok only for a couple of days. he came to get big eyes betty her usa passport. then, it is back home they go. no time at all even for hanging out. clint is the total family man now. good for him. I wish him many happy memories.after the buffet, I watched clint and his family walk off into the hustle and bustle that is bangkok.I went to see that movie - 10,000 BC. it was ok. but the story line was sort of simple. what I liked about the movie was the special effects. seeing a herd of mammoths stapeding was pretty cool...

well, I went to the lobby last night. had fun hanging out with everybody. but I got lazy tonight. didn't go. decided to just play "SUPREME COMMANDER". so, what's the latest, you ask?...the handsome man is leaving tomorrow. but will be back in june. the skyman left. saw quick draw mcgraw last night. but only for about 20 minutes. I didn't have a good reason to get up. so, I stayed in bed another day. when I felt the need, I got my dose of the internet. surfing to my hearts content. will I get up tomorrow and pop outside to see what is happening in the world?again... only the shadow knows...on the other hand, there is a good chance that I will venture out tomorrow. my frig is getting pretty empty. and even this lounge lizard can't live without food.well, so much for the latest on me. time to get back to sleep.later, everybody.
