2006-08-08 20:15:13 Apple’s world wide developer conference kicked off today and Mr. Steve gave the keynote. Apple released the much anticipated Intel based Mac Pro. Check out the specs on this thing. The Xserve was updated top sport the Intel chip as well. They also showcased there upcoming Mac OS “Leopard” and reduced the price of there 30 inch cinema display. damonledet.com site redesign
2006-08-06 20:12:09 I decided a few weeks ago to give my website a little face lift. Over the pass couple of days I have slowly ported all of my pages on www.damonledet.com to my new design. My hope is that this weekend I will update my blog to version 1.12 and give it the new refreshed look as well. As for the vacation I took this weekend I can say I had a great time. I got very sick Friday (something I ate I think) and spent most of the night and day Saturday in a very ill state. To make matters more interesting Delta was suppose to get me back to Atlanta at 10:14 PM Sunday night, but as luck would have it I did not get in until 1:30 AM Monday morning. I was not happy with them to say the least; I had to train Flash video Monday morning. That was the bad, the vacation however was great. 2006-08-06 20:12:09 After installing Blog CFM 1.12 and seeing how much I had changed and how little it had changed I decide to stay with the current version I am running. I have now completed my transformation of both www.damonledet.com and blog.damonledet.com. I also decided to set myself of a MSN spaces account today as well at http://damonledet.spaces.msn.com/. that time of year again
2006-08-06 20:12:09 Alright boys and girls it is that time of the year again. I know I am a couple of days late, part of the joy of having Tivo. Big Brother 7 started Wednesday night. This is the only reality television show I have ever got into. Well really I am not a big television person, the only shows I enjoy are Deadwood, any Law and Order, and of course The Sopranos. Even though I would have liked Jee to return from Big Brother 4; there is enough “old timers” that I remember to make it very interesting. Let the back stabbing begin. Coldfusion 7.0.2 update available
2006-08-06 20:12:09 Adobe software engineers have been hard at work. Adobe yesterday announced the release of both Adobe Flex and Adobe Flash player 9. Also this morning the coldfusion 7.0.2 update was posted, mostly flex integration. I of course have updated the webserver this morning. Of course the server needed to be rebooted, so this is what caused my slight downtime this morning. Superdawg
2006-08-06 20:12:09 I had the opportunity yesterday to visit a Chicago landmark. I was channel surfing Tuesday night in my hotel room when I found a show on the Travel Channel about hot dogs (Hot Dog Heavens). The show mentioned a place in the Chicago area called Super dawg. I am not one to explore much when I am traveling for work; I mostly just hang close to my hotel. Wednesday however I decided to do a google search for Superdawg, and to my amazement it is only five miles from our Chicago classroom. I decided I would give it a try. Farcry CMS - Friendly URLS
2006-08-06 20:12:09 I have been playing around a good bit with Farc ry CMS a content management system for coldfusion. I have it up and running at http://www.ledetfamily.com (not really much up there mostly a domain that I use to play with stuff for the time being) I have now set it up successively with both mollio and the friendly url plugin under IIS 6. Mollio was pretty straight forward using the directions here. As for the friendly URL plugin it was a little more work. I started by following all the directions here, but they leave out one important point you need to install an ISAPI Rewrite plugin under IIS. I just installed this per the directions at the site here and created an IsapiRewrite4.ini file in the same directory as the plugin and added this code:# friendly url rulesRewriteRule ^/go/(.*)$ /go.cfm?path=/go/$1 [L,PT] That was it, seems to be working like a champ now. Road Trip
2006-08-06 20:12:09 I am a little excited today, this afternoon I get to take my car on its first road trip. I will be driving to Louisisna after I get off of work. If you remember I have been tracking my TSX Avg MPG since I purchased the car back in December. All of the 8000 or so miles I put on the car so far have been in the Atlanta area. I am really interested to see what kind of mileage I can get on the open highway. Of course I will update my TSX Avg MPG page as soon as I get back to a computer might be a couple of days, it is a vacation right. More About: Trip , Road Trip , Road
Weekend in Louisiana
2006-08-06 20:12:09 Had a great time on vacation this weekend in Louis iana , if you know me well you know that Louisiana is not my favorite place to visit, however visiting my girl makes it great. I was a little sad to drive back today; the time always seems to pass by a lot faster when you are having fun. The wedding I went down for was beautiful (Congrads Kim), and it was nice to spend the afternoon in Baton Rouge. Now for the gas mileage, I have nothing against my gas guzzling brethren, but I had a big smile passing them today knowing that I was able to get 500 miles on a single tank of gas. I am very impressed with my TSX Avg MPG. I was able to get what I think is a very respectable 31+ mpg doing mostly 77 on the interstate. This car is still amazing me. More About: Weekend , Week

Mini vacation - "not soon enough"
2006-08-06 20:12:09 It has been a while since I posted, but life has been kind of crazy. I went to California two times last month, so spent a lot of the month in the air and less of the month doing things to blog about. The flights are long, but how I do enjoy the skymiles. Leaving for Louisiana tomorrow, for a much needed break, for my birthday, and to visit close friends and family. I am going to try to surprise my dad for father’s day. I have not thought of what I can do for him yet, but I am a last minute type of person when it comes to stuff like that. Side note: BlogCFM 1.12 is now out. 2006-08-06 20:12:09 I was laying out pine straw around the house today, not my favorite thing to do as that stuff makes my arms itch. As I am throwing this stuff out I am startled as a little bird flies right for my head. I do a little investigating and I was surprised to discover this little bird nest right on the side of my house. Grabbed the camera and snapped a couple of pictures. La Bayadere - Russian National Ballet
2006-08-06 20:12:09 A little tired today; I went to see The Russia n Nation al Ballet perform La Bayadere at the Fox Theater. We were fortunate enough to have seventh row seats orchestra left. This is a wonderful story of love and sacrifice. Being my first ballet, I was a little skeptical at first, but I enjoyed it immensely. Of course, you are not allowed to take pictures during the performance, but I snapped a couple of shots of the pre show “Mighty Mo Pipe Organ” performance.
Adobe Flex 2 - ACFUG
2006-08-06 20:12:09 Had the opportunity to learn a ton about Adobe Flex last evening at the Macquarium. I went to the Atlanta Coldfusion user group to hear Ben Forta speak. Ben did a presentation on Flex 2 integration with Coldfusion. If you have not discovered Flex yet you will be impressed with all of the examples up at http://labs.adobe.com/. I did not know, but found out last night that yahoo maps are done in Flex. More About: Adobe Flex

Little Women - The Broadway Musical

Maureen McGovern (Marmee) and Susan Spencer (Jo) were excellent. Going to the Fox Theater is always an exciting experience. Cirque Du Soleil Delirium
2006-08-06 20:12:09 I went to see Cirque Du Sole il Deli rium last night at the Phillips Arena. I have always wanted to see Cirque Du Soleil. I must admit the show was fantastic, but at the same time a little strange. It was very abstract and very busy. It was hard to keep up with all the sites and sounds; sensory overload would be an understatement. In my opinion the best part was when theses people hung down from the ceiling in what looked like sheets. They did a great aerial acrobatic performance with these sheets that was truly breath taking. Apple DVD Studio Pro Tutorials
2006-08-06 20:12:09 After 3 flights and a very bumpy ride. I made it to Minnesota. I started my morning at 4:30 AM today and slept my first flight leg Atlanta to Detroit, however I made use of my other 2 flights and created 2 Apple DVD Studio Pro tutorials. First one I call play all script. It is a DVDSP project with 4 video tracks and 1 menu on the menu you can choose to play the tracks individually or select the play all button to play all 4 tracks.Second one I call random play script. Zoo Atlanta
2006-08-06 20:12:09 Spent Easter Sunday at the Atlanta Zoo, this was my first time to the Atlanta Zoo. It was a little small compared to the Audubon Zoo, New Orleans, LA (the zoo I grow up next to), but I had a great time none the less. I really enjoyed the company and the Giant Pandas. Of course I have a few pictures of Zoo Atlanta.
3 new tutorials
2006-08-06 20:12:09 I have been busy the last week or so creating 3 new tutorials. I created a Final Cut pro Lower Third with luma matte tutorial last Sunday on my way to San Jose, CA. I have also been meaning to create two using some CSS tricks I discovered. One is a three column layout using CSS (I use a variation of this on my own site).
