Two of the smartest things I did this year and one stupid thing...
2008-04-12 04:06:00
I did two smart things so far this year. I finally started a Roth IRA for a my wife and myself. I went with Fidelity, because of the relatively low start up fee and my 401K is with them (even though in hindsight Vanguard is the place to be). I dumped a lump sum of $2,500 into FLATX (which is emerging market Latin America/Brazil) for my wife and FSEAX (China) for myself. This could of had a lot

Personal Finance advice from my dad
2008-01-16 18:45:00
A few months ago I emailed my dad a few questions about money. (I asked about life insurance, who handles the finances, investing and a few other things). I trust him very much and he has done well for himself. He is a partner in a law firm and has access to financial advisors for wealth management. I thought he might be able to provide some valuable advice and I was right. Here is part of

So do I. First let's visit last year's to see if I did what I set out to do. Does Google have a monopoly on online advertising?
2007-12-18 21:16:00
Seems that Google is penalizing people for using Text Linked Ads and Pay Per Post as income streams. Although there are other advertising programs Adsense seems to be the most widely used. If is fair for Google to use their influence to promote their revenue?

* VIDEO: Financial Checklist for your 20's from Kiplinger's PF
2007-11-15 15:51:00
Check out this video and tell me what you think?I agree it's important to have goals both short and long term. If your considering buying a car - definitely go with a reliable used one. Think hard about graduate school, don't apply just because you can't find a job. Be sure about the career path you are taking and make sure you love what you're doing when you get there. School loans have many recent graduates including myself starting out in a hole. Don't pile on more debt. Many companies will pay for you to further your education. I agree with having fun, but not going into debt because of a month long vacation through Europe. Do you like videos? type yes or no in the comments and I consider incorporating more in the future if the majority says yeah.Add your two cents

Lose your mind lately?
2007-11-11 15:35:00
Or maybe you just forgot where you put your car keys. If you are searching for a holiday gift this season and want to do some good at the same time, consider checking out the Alzheimer's Foundation of America Estore. If your loved one suffers from this devastating disease then you know why it is extremely important that we give scientists the funding necessary to develop a cure. Being a psychiatric nurse I have taken care of Alzheimer's patients and know how it can destroy families and cause a lot of hardship and stress for caretakers. The people affected with Alzheimer's deserve quality care and the Alzheimer Foundation seeks to educate and raise awareness about the disease. Alzheimer's can cause a person to become violent and dangerous. Certain kinds of forgetfulness are not a regular sign of aging, many people do not realize this. If you notice that an older person who you love is forgetting a lot on a regular basis, or having trouble sleeping, becoming aggressive or a...

Get Money for your Business Start-up Sponsored by PayPePost
2007-10-20 03:36:00
When starting a business, one thing most people need is some startup money. If you want to build a successful business start with a good model and then take action. If you are not good at something, pay someone else to do it well. Don't be greedy, share your vision, passion, and energy with others and collaborate. You'll reach your goals much faster and be more successful if you surround yourself with a team of smart individuals. Develop your talent and utilize the talents of others in areas where you are weak or inexperienced. This will save you a lot of time and frustration. So you just developed a great new blog widget that will sell your goods on every page that the code is installed. How do you get your product out there? Hire some marketing experts and a street team to push your product and reach the customers you are targeting. Don't try to write advertising campaigns yourself unless that is your strength. Don't focus your time and energy on something that othe...

Was it just reading the One Minute Million aire, or did something else inspire you?How did you meet up with your mentor? What are your plans when you reach your goal? Where do you see yourself in 5years? Hi Marshall, Thanks for your enquiry. I would like to explore opportunities to work closer together with a strategic alliance. I am planning to add rss feeds of other sites like yours to my website, perhaps this is something you would be interested to do on yours? Could I interest you in adding an rss feed of my blog to you site? Anyway, here is the info you asked for. Reader's Question.
2007-10-16 13:12:00
Here is a great question I received from a reader yesterday followed by my answer. Any other suggestions you would offer. Hit the talkback button and speak your mind.Sir,I've never been without... meaning I could always do what I wanted to do, eat where I wanted to eat and go wherever I wanted to go, however, as long as I can remember, I've never had a savings account with more than 1k. I have a little more now, I've cut back on a lot of frivilous spending, but I still don't know how to save/invest/plan for the future. If you could suggest 3 immediate steps that I can take within the next 1-3 months, I'll see about getting right on it. Thank you.Dear Reader,The best thing you could do is set up an appointment with a Certified Financial Planner at your bank. Figure out what your goals are and take a list of questions that you have to the meeting. I am not a professional financial planner but the following are a few things I've learned and implemented within the past year...
