5.30% APY Savings Rate @ One United Bank
2007-05-13 10:28:00 OneUnited .com is offering a 5.30% APY on their Unity Gold E-savings account. Minimum balance is $1000, and interest is compounded quarterly. OneUnited Bank does not run a hard credit pull, and is FDIC insured for up t0 $100,000. It’s a decent rate, but their page looks a bit outdated. Personally, I’d take advantage of FNBO Direct’s 6.0% APY promotion. More About: Saving , Savings , Ving

BentoBoxReview.com - A Little Bit of Everything
2007-05-12 21:28:00 So I recently came across Bento Box Review over at Ms Danielle’s blog. It looks like Rick is jumping on the John Chow contest bandwagon and giving away a Wii in exchange for some link love and publicity. Well, I’m always down for a free Wii, so here’s a quick review of BentoBoxReview. I really like the theme; it’s got a Web 2.0 feel to it without overdoing it like some of the more flamboyant Web 2.0 themes. Rick talks about a plethora of different things, including gaming, partying, clothes, and accessories, mostly targeted towards young males. He’s also got a video podcast as well, which is pretty nicely done. I also noticed that Rick has yet to put any ads up on his site; he’s clearly taking the advice of internet mogul John Chow and focusing on content before monetization. Rick also has a distinct writing style that helps bring out the personality in his blog. If theres anything that could be improved, I would say that his sidebar is a little u... Fed’s Decision Locks Interest Rates
2007-05-12 21:19:00 From the Clarion Ledger: With the Federal Reserve holding interest rates steady, rates on certificates of deposit are expected to stagnate or even fall a bit in coming months, Bankrate. com predicts. The nation’s highest CD rates are nearly identical to those in January, Bankrate.com found, although the 2.5-year rates are slightly down. Investors may want to keep buying short-term CDs for higher returns as well as five-year deposits to lock in rates in case the Federal Reserve cuts later this year. But economists surveyed by USA Today expect the Fed to leave rates alone this year. The recent Fed decision to maintain rates and recent reports that inflation is trending lower suggests that interest rates may have topped out. In addition recent cuts by many of the leading online banks similarly point to a plateau in interest rates. As a result, now would be a good time to lock in some high CD rates, or perhaps start a CD ladder to spread out the risk. More About: Interest Rates , Decision , Interest , Rest , Sion

They also offer a internet money market account with rates ranging from 4.97-5.18%, but I don’t know why you would chose this over the Desecret Money Market account. 5.25% APY Rate @ ING Direct Electric Orange Checking
2007-05-11 21:16:00 ING Direct has recently raised the rates on its $50,000 to $100,000 bracket from 5.05% APY to 5.25% APY. Unfortunately, the other rates remain unchanged at 4% APY for under $50k and 5.30% APY for over $100,000. ING’s Electric Orange Checking Account was launched earlier this year. There are no minimum balances or monthly fees. One thing should be noted about the ING Checking account - they don’t offer paper checks. In the age of online and electronic banking, this really isn’t that big of a deal. Still, traditionalists might be thrown off by their alternatives. You can either send them a paper check for free, which is a little bit of a hassle and might take a few days via first class mail. Or, you can send electronic checks online. The problem with this method is that they are required to give you account and routing number. While these two numbers are readily available every time you give someone a check (they are located at the bottom of each check) people may not feel comfo... More About: King , Range
