It's frustrating when your vision problems start to interfere with your computer usage. This week's (April 30, 2007) BusinessWeek cover story caught my eye: the headline is "Wal-Mart's Midlife Crisis ," detailing the retailer's slowing growth and diminished prospects. I, for one, am not really surprised at this revelation. You see, our Investor Advisory Service newsletter followed Wal-Mart until nearly two years ago, June 2005, when it was recommended for sale from subscriber's portfolios.

My notebook computer recently bit the dust, and my only effective option for replacing the machine on short notice was to buy a computer with Windows Vista . While I expected to make the move at some point during 2007, I had been hoping to postpone the inevitable as long as possible. Here are some notes on my initial observations while installing and using our software programs on the new computer.

Dear Doug: Most of what I've read suggests forming an investment club as a General Part nership. However, many members of my group have a great deal of experience with Limited Liability Corporations and would prefer organizing under this structure. Does the software for purchase from ICLUBcentral handle the accounting for LLCs or is it specific to General Partners hips? If it doesn't handle the accounting for LLCs, are there software packages available that do? - Dan S.

In February 2007, E*TRADE announced the launch of a new program that offers electronic stock trading on six foreign stock exchanges -- the Toronto Stock Exchange, the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Euronext Paris, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and the London Stock Exchange. The company also offers broker-assisted trades on 36 other global exchanges, with the ultimate goal of offering online trades for each of those markets. But just because E*TRADE customers can now buy stocks on the Tokyo or Paris exchange, does that make it a good idea?
