cologne on camera

Ok so here is the first batch of pictures I took a couple of days ago (all with my mobile phone so please excuse the quality): The first picture shows one of the most unique and expensive department store. The whole building is formed in the shape of a wale. The second one shows the Cathedral of Cologne . So does the third one. The fourth picture is a (sadly) dark photo of the car free shopping zone right in the heart of Cologne.

five sisters

Before buying the new Scissor Sister s Album Ta Dah! I have decided to grab a copy of their debut album called Scissor Sisters . I have two single bought on their release day but never the whole album because I was kinda worried that I wouldn’t like all songs, but to my surprise is the music much better and as experimental as I though. Of course as with every album are two or three songs a bit weaker, but in the end the whole album was very satisfying. My favorite songs are the ballad “Mary” and the other two singles “Laura” and “Take Your Mama”, but even the rest is great. Its a very strange mix of 70s music, electronic music, dance and pop. afterwork shopping

Yesterday I was shopping after work. At least I tried to go shopping because the whole city was so crowded that I skipped lots of stores and in the end I shopped online later that evening. Anyway, I live in Cologne and the whole inner city is kind of a gigantic outdoor shopping center. Only a couple of weeks ago one street was named the most frequented shopping street in Germany with some ten thousand shoppers per hour. The whole inner city is car free (at least the shopping areas) and you can find literally hundreds of shops, smaller shopping center’s and two huge four-floor department stores. It’s really fun to go shopping in Cologne because you can spend days and haven’t seen all shops there are. Anyway I have decided to start a third photo series. Beside pictures from my various trips to the US and from this years vacation at the North Sea, I gonna show you pictures of Cologne and of everything that is interesting or worth to be shown here.

Today my attention was brought to a brand new(?) promo video from canadian underwear producer GinchGonch. The video showcases their western themed underwear and features beautiful guys… and okay there are also some girls in it. finally microsoft brings it home

I was really disappointed with the Tokyo Game Show “Bringing It Home ” because Microsoft promised new content for the XBox Live Marketplace on a daily basis, but most of the trailer and demos were only available for Japanese gamers. Now with their own convention called X06 in Barcelona they have really added some serious content. Yesterday a Sonic demos was released (plus some great trailer for upcoming games like Project Gotham Recing 4 or Halo Wars) and today even more stuff is added to the Marketplace (including a WWE Smackdown Vs Raw demo). If you own an Xbox 360 Console than check out the downloads as soon as possible, because most of the content will be taken off the marketplace on September 29th!

brief or no brief??

There has always been a huge disagreement wheather briefs or boxers are better and I don’t know about you, but I prefer Brief s or Hip Briefs. I do have lots of Boxer Briefs or Trunks in my drawer though, but Briefs are still the best. Its mainly because I like the way they are shaped, the form of them and how they hold everything in place. Especially during sport I don’t want to wear Boxer Shorts because they don’t give the support I need. And besides did I mention that I like the form and shape of a Brief? On the other hand I feel much more free when I wear a Brief. A Trunk kinda restricts my freedom of movement. This might sound silly at first but just think about it for a moment and if you have a different opinion feel free to post it. Another reason why I prefer Briefs are that most companies make more unique Briefs than other pants. My favorite hip brief at the moment is from Calvin Klein, but I also love wearing Aussiebum for instance. The picture at the top...

sinfull experience

Yesterday evening I have been watching Sin City for the first time. I did not get the chance to watch it at my local theater and I must say that I have missed out an opportunity to see one of the most amazing, stylsih movies of all time on the big screen. The atmosphere and the whole setting is really unique and I don’t know how they have done it, but even though it is an episodic movie with three, actually four different story lines, it grabs your attention from the first moment. The unique black and white style, only with some color (usually the color red or yellow) is very different. Also different is the film noir setting in a comic strip super hero city filled with dark secrets. There was not one thing I didn’t like about the movie. I actually liked all the actors though Elijah Wood didn’t make so much sense for, plus everytime when I seem him I see him as Frodo from the The Lord of the Rings. no more rings for me

Yesterday evening I have been watching “The Ring 2″ which was not very satisfying because most of the potential the first movie had wasn’t used. The whole idea of evil Samara taking revenge on Rachel and her son was quite interesting but the realisation was more or less dull. One thing I missed the most was the idea of the video cassette which was only used for the first 10 minutes or so. Even the occasional shock effects didn’t satisfy me. However Naomi Watts was (again) at her best and very believable. If you haven’t had the chance to see King Kong than check this one out because she is a really great actress. On the other hand The Ring (2002) is one of the best adapted J-Horror movies of all time. The story is great and the movie has one shock effect after another. Shopping in Holland

Today I have been to the Netherlands to go shopping. They have near Venlo a great outlet shopping center and although I didn’t get much, was the day a lot of fun. The sopping center is completely outdoors and build like a small village. You guys in the US know what I mean. I have bought three pairs of Calvin Klein undies, a CK swimshort and some muslce fit T-Shirts from CK. Not much I know, but better than nothing though I planned on buying new Vans shoes. Check out CKU and look for the 365 undies if you like to know what I bought. And in sheer frustration I have bought some stuff from Aussiebum this evening as well.

fear brought home from tokyo

Microsoft promised to release new content for the Xbox Live Marketplace on a daily basis during the Tokyo Game Show and they actually did, but most of the content was only available for Japanese user’s which made the whole idea of a “bringing it home” event useless for everyone else. I must admit that after the second day I didn’t even bother to check what was released, but as Major Nelson reports today has Microsoft released something special: a Fear Demo! That nearly makes good for the lack of content of the last days though I haven’t been able to go online with my Xbox360 yet and cannot confirm if the demo is already available!

HD ?Speed?

I have been watching speed lately and never wrote about it - what a shame. I know it is an old movie, but this time it was shown in HD and there comes nothing close to the crisp and lively HD picture. I was really surprised how clear and detailed the picture was and how many details I had missed out on DVD. Especially Sandra Bullock looked amazing - I always liked her because she is a sweet girl, but in HD she looks way better (Keanu Reeves as well although I am not his fan). If you ever get the chance to see Speed in HD than do it, even if you don’t like to movie - can someone not like Speed? The whole movie experience was much more intense and I afterwards I had to get from my ever growing collection of movie soundtracks the CD and listen to it again.

The photo shoot is done in front of a white wall without a proper lightning, but the outcome still looks stunning. Crazy Radio

Today a friend borrowed me his Basement Jaxx CD “Crazy Itch Radio ”. While I didn’t expect much I was really surprised how great Basement Jaxx’s music is. If you have never listened to Basement Jaxx than check’em out - it’s kinda crazy stuff but with style. A unique and sometimes wired style admittedly. One of the best tracks is Hush Boy. If you watch MTV on a regular basis you might have seen the video but didn’t realise that it was Basement Jaxx. The video playes in a retirement home were the residents start dating and dancing - pretty funny and unique. Of course the CD has also some weaker tracks. One of them is “Run 4 Cover” - but the majority of the 14 tracks is worth every cent!

Today I discovered some new podcasts at Apple iTunes, well actually I knew of this particular one before but haven’t tried it until today. If you ever get bored while riding a train or being at work, why not switch on your Video iPod and check out the Aussie bum podcast with videos of their underwear and swimwear models posing and showing off what they have. Maybe you find something special you would like to buy… okay you still would have to wait until you are back home to shop online, but I think it is a nice idea to waste some time!

Here are more pictures of the tideland:   The first picture shows a real living clam. The long part moves in if you get close or touch it. The second one could have been made in the sahara desert, but it is actually the tideland in close-up. If you get lost because of fog or nightfall you can feel the structure of the sand and find your way back to the beach. The last picture for now shows one of the many security stations. They are actually cages on stilts with lots of survival equiptment like signal pistol. If for any reason you won’t be able to get back to the beach when the flood arrives you can get into one of the cages, attract attention to yourself and wait for a rescue team. More pictures of my north sea vacation will be added shortly!

Here is another batch of pictures I took during my short vacation up north. This time they are from our walk through the tidelands. As you know because of the tides the water leaves for six hours before it comes with the flood back (for roughl another 6 hours). During the low tide you can safely walk out into the tideland. So here are four pictures I took that day:   The first picture shows the north sea before the low tide and obviously the second picture shows the tideland after the water moved away. On the third picture you can see one of the various tideland inhabitants. This small crab burried itself deep into the tideland after it spotted me. The last pictures shows a view back to the beach - not very special but you can see how far we went out into the tideland. More to come soon!
